Cressida uses a bow that can split into two swords(runaan style). In a world where guns exist so much that pretty much every weapon is also a gun, it seems kinda outdated to use a bow. Cressida herself is stuck in her past, trying desperately to shake off her criminal history. But like the traditional nature of the bow, her past is part of her. And she's based on robin hood so it makes sense. Rowan uses a shield and a spear, fighting in hoplite style. This alludes to his inspiration, Hector of troy. But that's not the main thing. The spear and sheild can transform and slot together(dont ask me how its rwby logic) to form a submachine gun. The mechanism was designed by his girlfriend Andie, who is the only reason Rowan, a peaceful farmhand, is fighting in the first place. Serena uses a rope dart/meteor hammer. The fluid motions required to use this weapon have often been compared to a dance, which is fitting for serena, who is not only based on Giselle, but also uses dance as a way to connect with her unknown past. Additionally, the bulk of a rope dart, the rope, is traditionally made of silk, making it a stealthy weapon. However, that silk is only a vehicle for the steel at the end. In a similar way, Serena's quiet nature is juxtaposed with her beautiful yet INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AND VIOLENT fighting style. (Seriously rope darts and meteor hammers are scary) Eloise uses a dagger that can transform into a flare/canister pistol. Compared to her team's weapons and the weapons in this series as a whole, this seems weak and ineffective. A single knife and a gun designed for safety against a giant darkness monster? No way she's making it out alive. Eloise is also weak and soft and not good at fighting at all. But the flare gun, although slow and firing one shot at a time, fires canisters of dust(for non-rwby fans its like elemental crystals, really strong stuff) and the dagger can be poisoned with the same canisters. Eloise, though always a bit of a glass cannon, becomes a lot more powerful as the story progresses. And the dagger calls back to her inspiration, Juliet.
