"Well, that's one name for it that we have. There were some people in this realm's past that called the creatures 'Mara-Uul'. At least, that's what we inferred from the old research logs we found here: They said they found a rough image of the creature on an old-looking tablet along with the name , and hadn't found the word in any of the other texts they found, so they assumed it was a name for the creature. I wish I could have seen those texts myself, but I suspect the facility's previous inhabitants took them with them when they fled."

“Fascinating.” He jots that down in his notes. “I do so look forward to learning more about this Alarius.”

Lemm gives Stewart a pat on the back and an approving nod.

He is somewhat taken aback and fumbles for words, "Why -- why thank you! I am honored." He examines the pin and rubs it with his thumb before pinning it into the canvas of his suit. "I look forward to working on the team."

"And we look forward to that as well. I have a feeling you'd be interested in our research so far, and the nearby chasm still has many things to discover, no doubt."
Lemm looks out of one of the room's broken windows, which has a clear view of the chasm: A large ravine, about three-hundred yards from the camp, a riven red around its edges, slowly widening and contracting as if the very ground was taking slow, heaving breaths. "Yes, that chasm does hold many secrets. The creatures and environments up on the surface are bizarre, sure, but... some of the things down there are just... unnatural. It's all rather perplexing."

"My word," says Poliard as he observes the chasm, "It looks to be... alive." He turns his helmeted gaze towards Lemm, "In what manner are these creatures unnatural?"
"The creatures in the chasm... many of the don't abide by the rules of reality we're all accustomed to. That one, for example," Lemm gestures towards the partially dissected arthropod on the table; "can defy gravity without any clear explanation. There are animals that can fly through solid rock as though it were air, or can change the properties of matter they touch. We're... we're not even sure if 'creatures' is an apt description for some of them. Many seem to have... mechanical aspects to them as well."

"I had a feeling you would say that. There's an old shaft leading down into the chasm we discovered, and it's been our main way of entering the place. I've been down there a few times, but I never went into the deeper chambers." Ms. Quill points in the direction of the shaft, which you can see part of from the windows of the facility: A small concrete structure jutting out from the ground.
Lemm seems ecstatic. "Mr. Poliard, might I accompany you on your trip down? We might be able to find more as a team."

"I suppose we shall! I'll go grab some of my gear. It'll only be a minute." Lemm heads down the stairs, a wide grin on his face.
"Make sure to be careful. Not every creature down there is as gentle or flighty as the Paddlewings."
*No problem*
"But of course. I wouldn't have survived with most of my limbs... well never mind that. I have plenty experience with the more fearsome critters of the wilds. I know how to handle myself."

Lemm climbs back up the stairs with an old-looking film camera on a strap hanging loosely around their neck. "I'm all ready if you are!"
"Well then, off we go." He turns and begins to head to the Chasm. As he walks he looks at the camera, "Are you some sort of photographer?"
Lemm follows behind, keeping the camera in his hands. "Not exactly. It's for Death Cloaks." He takes a picture of the area ahead, towards the shaft entrance, and spends a moment studying the photo it creates. "Alright, the path seems to be clear."
