*how to train your dragon books. Essentially there's this mark that denotes someone's a slave or indentured servant, and it can never be removed. But when hiccup starts his revolution against the evil people, he changes the meaning of that mark, calling it the dragonmark and that it now means that they stand for good and loyalty.*
