*Goooooood afternoon, everyone- I am back once more! What say we revisit an old friend, stir up some chaos?*
The large cocoon at the burrow's hearth stirs for a moment more, and then ceases once more, a final shimmering of slivery light flickering across its silk. That faint psychic presence from its sleeping occupant, while still somewhat weak, seems to be growing stronger. She's just woken up. If one listens carefully, and all outside the burrow is quiet, they can hear a faint scratching sound against the silk from within.
*Hey, Yvonne! Sorry for the late reply, I needed to take a nap*
Carnival copies the scratching from the other side.

Carnival takes a deep breath. "...okay..." She whispers.

*Alrighty then- let's make the most of the time we have! I've been preparing for this for a while...*
As soon as a single cut is made along the cocoon's side, a syrupy fluid begins to weep from the incision- entirely translucent and shimmering silver in the light. The silken exterior strains and cracks as it is pulled to either side, the cocoon's inner walls oozing that same substance, which is starting to pool at the floor of the burrow beneath. Its sole occupant, bracing herself against its walls for support and currently adjusting to breathing actual air again, weakly looks up and back at Carnival. The full-fledged fey takes one slow step forward, before her strength gives out and she falls into their arms for support, a short startled hiss escaping her.
Adeline's metamorphosis is now fully complete, her dormant fey nature now fully on display- if she wasn't more than an honorary moth before, she most certainly is now. Actually, it's a bit more than honorary at this point.
*Silkbeast Adeline is here! Physical description in the spoiler below*
The moth-spawn still somewhat resembles her more humanoid appearance, though her metamorphosis has changed her quite dramatically. Most immediately noticeable is her change in size- she's easily gained two or so feet in height and a small bit of weight. While her dress from the late Witch King was slightly oversized for her before, the combination of her now less spindly frame and the addition of ecru-colored moth fuzz along most of her body makes it fit just right.
Her face appears mostly unchanged, still clearly Adeline, though up close there are a few small yet notable differences. Lines of where chitinous plates link together are faintly visible on the sides of her head and along all her joints. The most notable of the changes are two small fang-bearing chelicerae on either side of her mouth, likely meant for injecting venom, though odds are they won't see too much use. The area around her mouth and jaw has several segmentation lines- a likely sign of more arthropod-like mouthparts hidden by her human seeming face. A few small black dots- additional eyes- can be seen, two near her forehead and one adjacent to each primary eye. Her hair remains its auburn hue around its ends, though it fades into an ecru color the closer to her roots it is.
The new moth fuzz is most visible around her forearms, legs, and in an especially fluffy collar-like mane around her neck like a scarf, though at the moment it is heavy and sodden with the cocoon's inner fluids. Poking through the slits on the back of the dress are her new wings- still small and creased, having just been exposed to air for the first time- and near those wings in the middle of her back is a blood-red marking in the shape of an hourglass. Like the widow spider her new form is inspired by, and perhaps even directly related to, though that is a questiom for later.
The second-most striking new features, however, is the new addition of two more insect-like arms, only marginally smaller than her original pair, that are attached to the body slightly below her primary pair. Her fingers lack nails, ending in curved chitinous claws reminiscent of those conjured by her Primal Savagery spell, though notably less sharp and caustic. Her legs have changed notably in their design, their joint structure seeming more avian than humanoid, with curved talons meant for finding perch in branches and muscles arranged more for climbing and pouncing than long-distance walking. It's clear her design is that of an ambush hunter, her nature seemingly more akin to beast than fey.

Carnival actually wakes up now, but barely. "Winter is over, Adeline."
They gently, carefully carries half-carries, half-leads Adeline outside. The snow is melting. It's spring. "The sun is out, and you are so, so beautiful."

The new fey slowly follows while using Carnival for support, almost tripping a couple times, very much not used to her new anatomy. She takes in the sight of the melting snow, her large dark eyes soaking in the light of the sun, and it feels as if the air around them both grows as warm as a midsummer day. Adeline smiles, and tries to say something, but is surprised when a chitinous chittering sound escapes her lips instead. It takes some effort, but after a few seconds of adjustments...
"It's... beautiful. Thank you, Carnival." It's still clearly her voice, virtually identical to before, though her new vocal cords mean she'll have to get used to speaking in humanoid language again.

"It almost hurts... to leave all that pain behind... doesn't it?" They carefully sit Adeline down on a blanket that was already set up for the two. "It's like... making the goodbye final..."
Egregore coughs, sitting on the mound that the burrow's entrance created. "You've grown stronger. You have no reason to go back to that weakness. You exist before your pain, and you have proven that you are able to exist beyond it. Stand proud."

She leans slightly against Carnival once they're both seated, just like a few days prior. "Yeah, it kinda does... but it was a necessary goodbye. Now, I can leave it behind." There's a faint sound of approaching movement from the burrow, before Cinnamon practically leaps over into the new moth's lap, ecstatic to see her again. Adeline giddily picks up and hugs the stuffed familiar, just as happy. "I missed you too, buddy."
She sets the familiar back in her lap, still petting them as she turns to face Egregore. "Don't you worry- I'm not going to look back to that. I... I think I just need a little moment to take everything in. Metamorphosis takes lots of energy, after all."

Carnival leans back against her. "I'm jealous..." She begins oh-so-gently stroking Adeline's new wings, attempting to straighten them out. "I'm gonna be smol forever..."
Mother Moth hasn’t left the sanctuary since Adeline started her metamorphosis. Staring at the sun, rising on the first spring day of the year, she smiles. Then, Adeline awakes, and Calpe slinks closer to meet her, antennae twitching with worry and face bright with hope. “My child, my beautiful child…”

*I’m thinking of using Mother Moth in a worldbuilding/writing project as a folklore figure that may come up in some parts of the story.*
*That would be awesome*
*I'd love to read it if and when you feel ready to share*
*I’d love to share it eventually. Actually, I don’t currently have much for this world beside the genre and that I want to include Mother Moth and a couple of my other characters in it, so if you had any sorts of ideas (literally anything, I have almost nothing right now) I’d love to hear it. It’s going to be dark fantasy, mid renaissance time period, fairytale/biblical magic in the sort of way Lord of the Rings feels, but flashier.*

"When the dust falls, we'll be ready for it." She sounds very sure about that, though maybe she's just being optimistic.

Egregore nods in approval. "I wonder what that flower's gonna do now."

"Whatever it does, there's a lot here that can keep it in line if it tries to make things worse. I hope everything turns out okay."
As Carnival gently straightens out Adeline's new wings, she can see similar red hourglass markings on them, somewhat like eyespots. "Being small certainly isn't a bad thing, and if you really don't want to stay that way, I'm sure there's a spell or something for that." The moth looks away from the sun back at her, her smile almost as bright. "I'm just really happy you're here."

"Heh. If everything was always okay, I would be out of a job in no time. Dust always falls."
They look up at Adeline's face, then smile back. "I'm happy... that you allow me to be..." She hugs the moth-fey-beast-girl tight. Well, as tight as a muscularly underdeveloped strugel can.

The newly-official moth's face lights up seeing her mother, and she tries to approach to meet her halfway, though she's definitely not used to walking on talons. "Hello again, mother! It's so good to see you again." Adeline hugs her tight with all her arms, the aura of warmth around the moth-child burning a bit brighter now. "I missed you."

The aforementioned moth-fey-beast-girl hugs her back as tightly as her current energy can allow- the aura of warmth has helped dry off her new moth fluff, which feels like fuzzy blankets that were freshly dried. "Of course- you're always welcome. I wouldn't have it any other way."
"When the dust falls, we'll be ready for it." She sounds very sure about that, though maybe she's just being optimistic.

She wraps her enormous wings around Adeline, still enveloping her despite being larger now. “I was so worried all this time… how do you feel, dear? Oh- are you hungry?”
