“Hey, are you okay?” Menda joins Jeremiah at his table.
"Hmm? Oh, yes, I am... *snort* Huh?" He rubs his eyes, then turns to Menda. "I'm sorry, I've just been very involved in a recent investigation. Is there something I can help you with?"
“Investigation?”
"Yes, I am the camp's head 'detective.' Although recently I've been starting to doubt my own skills."
“Really? You seem dedicated.”
"I am dedicated. And I believe that's the problem." He starts twirling his fork. "I get so invested in the cases that when it turns up nothing, it's hard to cope with."
“That’s horrible. What’s the case?”
"Two, actually: a scorched crater and mutilated carcasses. I think I know who's behind it, though, I just can't figure out why."
