It lets out a shrill shriek. “Mommy come here to apologize for helping Kronos and demigod kill her!”

“Don’t know! No see! Mommy say cover eyes!”

Maho is walking out of the forest with animal bones in his arms.
Kota is sitting near Neru, gazing in awe at Peleus.
She glimpses at them. “You can pet him, you know? He does not bite that often.” Her pitch black wings stretch, synchronized with the guardian dragon’s.
“I like your wings!” Kota walks over and pets Peleus.
His scales are slick to the touch. Kota’s hands slide from piece to piece as if covered by butter. “Thank you. I have not successfully flown with them though.”
“Really? How come?”
“I got them around a month ago. It’s like the opposite of phantom limb. New muscles that you need to learn how to control and sometimes forget are there. If I slept like a normal person, I swear I would’ve sprained or broke something by now.”
“Oh… that sounds uncomfortable. What’s your name? I’m Kota.”
“Hello Kota. I am Neru, of Hypnos Cabin.” She says her parent’s name with a sarcastic amount of swagger.
“Is Hypnos the sleep god? How do you have wings?”
“You know the saying ‘dreams take you away from reality’? The abilities my father gave me reflects that. Projection, the ability to put people to sleep, and wings. Who’s your parent?”
