Look. Based on the circumstances, I decided that cr 26 was suitable because of the capabilities of my party, the surrounding environment, and the fact that the sorcerer found a spell scroll of weird. It might not be a cr 26 creature in certain scenarios but that is just dnd. Imagine an adult green dragon in a desert versus an adult green dragon in a swamp. That’s my point (ish)
