Hi! For those who are joining me again, welcome back! To those who are joining anew, the old thread was a decently large hit among a group of people, in which we battled it out, alliances were formed, and Tana won. Again. This time, we're upping the stakes. Here are the new rules.
Thread Rules:
- Nothing NSFW, nothing 18+, nothing inappropriate. Idk why I have to include this on a fighting thread but ok.
- EVERYONE is welcome here, regardless of who you are. Unless you start an argument and are extremely mean.
- No being mean or a bully.
- No finding and exploiting loopholes! You will be banned. Consider this your only warning.
- Mods: Me and Tana, looking for more.
- Put the word Gladiator in your first post to show you've read the rules.
Combat Rules:
You start at level 20, but here we're upping the stakes. No magic items of any sort. When you get down to 0 hp, you get healed to half your original hit points at the start of your next turn. If you get down there a second time, you get healed to a quarter. When you hit 0 the third time, you die. No saving throws whatsoever. You are eliminated from the game. Teaming is allowed and encouraged. Homebrew races, classes, and subclasses must be inspected by me first.
Your ability scores are, in any order: 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 12. This is including boons and ASIs.
Equipment:
You start with one armour with which you are proficient, and beyond that, follow 2014 or 2024 rules. I don’t care.
Lair Actions:
At initiative count 20 every round, I will roll a D12 and consult the following table:
D12:
1: Earthquake! The entire arena shakes, all fighters not in the air must make a DC 20 Strength or Dex save or be knocked prone. If you are on a wall, you fall and take falling damage.
2: The floor is lava! Platforms rise out of the floor, which then turns to lava. Until initiative count 20 of the next round, you must make DC 18 Dex saves at the start of your turn or when moving. Flying creatures are exempt to this. On a fail, you fall in the lava for 3d6 fire damage.
3: Tsunami! The arena floods, at the start of your turn everyone must make DC 18 Strength checks to keep afloat. On a fail, you sink and take 2d8 acid damage. This lasts until initiative count 20 of the next round.
4: Big boom! 2 3rd level fireball spells are cast targeting two different people, determined by rolling a d8. DC 18 Dex save, 8d6 fire damage on a fail or half on a success.
5: Blizzard! The arena is covered by snow until initiative count 20 of the next round. The air is lightly obscured, all flying creatures must descend, and everyone takes 3d6 cold damage.
6: Gong! An extremely loud gong rings, everyone must make a DC 18 Constitution save or take 3d8 thunder damage.
7: Landslide! A quadrant of the arena collapses, doing 3d6 bludgeoning damage and knocking people prone on a failed DC 18 Dex save. The quadrant returns to normal at initiative count 20 of the next round.
8: Curse! One random target has Bestow Curse cast on them. DC 18 Wisdom save or you must make a wisdom save to take an action. This lasts until initiative count 20 of the next round.
9: Sinkhole! The ground in the centre of the arena collapses. DC 18 Dex save if you are in the centre or you fall in, taking 4d6 falling damage. You must succeed on a DC 15 Athletics or Acrobatics check to get out, which costs an action. This remains for the rest of the battle, so watch your step!
10: Faerie Fire! One target has Faerie Fire cast on them. DC 18 Dex save or all attack rolls on you have advantage, and you can’t become invisible. This lasts until Initiative Count 20 of the next round.
11: No lair action! The arena is quiet for now…
12: Amp it up! Roll twice on the table and get multiple results.

The issue with this is the ‘no magic item’ part. At 20th level, plenty of classes have resistance, immunity, or ways to get it to most nonmagical weapon damage, as well as other types of damage.
It’s not impossible to destroy someone, but it’s difficult, especially if they’re built around being resistant to everything.
