Is there such a thing as this? Like thin almost like a poster that can lay on a table because portability and less intrusiveness above the table surface; and have something like a map shown on it? It would need to act like 2nd monitor for the PC in order for the stuff to be shown on it. So for example it wouldn't make any sense at all for me to take a standard LED 16:9 50" TV set and lay it flat on a table at our local game night hangout place of business. I have a generic grid laminated poster so far for drawing maps but I was hoping to get more extravagant without printing up dozens of poster sized maps. As that could cost as much as buying a screen/display of some kind if such a thing existed and then i could show as much as i want on it and save money in the long run.
In my home I have a TV on the wall. It has an Amazon fire stick that use to connect a laptop to and dual screen for maps and the like. It's all on screen and I can do maps along with my own programs.
Your pc can connect to a smart TV and do the same thing. So play with that if you have it at your disposal. So just have things in your pc that you need and then project it to the TV for all to see. If you don't have a smart TV then get an Amazon fire stick and you'll be able to project to that too the TV. It's simple. If you need help then I'll help.
We are going to give that a try, Avohei. A member of the group has a 35" 1080p LED TV unused. My main concern was bulk on the tabletop. Years ago I heard news of upcoming ultra thin displays, like TVs/displays almost as thin as a smartphone. This would ideally be what I was thinking.

You're correct and you're thinking of OLED displays. While still young they will eventually be capable to be rolled like a poster and carried around. They are coming around just not very fast.

Not really? Maybe get a projector that you can aim down at the table?
Yes you can do exactly what you want to do.
