You can judge a book by its cover. This is how I find books that I'd like.
Also, reading the blurb helps a lot.
I like dystopian books because it is often a glimpse at how the world could be if people were just a bit more stupid, but I agree that they can be horrible.
Not really, just my burning hatred for YA dystopian novels at this point.
i have not read much YA stuff despite being one, i dont think harry potter counts because it is well written.
Also in how many famous horror stories does the protagonist have some kind of disabillity like deafness, blindness, paralysis or missing limbs? becuase making a protagonist weaker in that manner should make a story a bit scarier since the main person is weaker yet i cannot think of any video game or move that goes in that direction
(that being said i have never directly consumed much horror media it might be right under me nose)

Harry Potter definitely doesn't count as dystopian.
It is a YA book series. The definition of YA isn't that it has to be terrible, I've read plenty of books that are in the YA section of a library that are good.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
I just feel like, stereotypically, YA is a lot of:
"I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding."
"I have to choose between my childhood friend and this mysterious dark stranger that's waltzed into my life."
"I'm not like other girls. I have a personality."
And, my favorite, "I'm so angry at the fact you're either cheating on me or hugging your brother that I need you to squeeze my hand tightly and stare into my cold, calculating, dark blue eyes that take your breath away to calm my rage while my ex girlfriend texts me non-stop."
Based on what you said, go to r/notliketheothergirls if you want to vent
nah dude that's not what I'm saying - I just think there are a lot of stories with so much potential that are thrown away because they're just poorly written. Badly written books just aren't my cup of tea but go off I guess
You need to start reading better YA novels. Try some fantasy books, like Eragon, some Rick Riordan/Brandon Mull books, or the Ranger's Apprentice.
Try reading DRAGONLANCE saga. Then, try reading The Hobbit. And after that, try reading DUNE ( the 4 books ).
If you didn't end with a rough headaching, then tell me what HACKS you used here. Hehehehehehehe.
well i would not call the hobbit an young adult book, it is more a thing that appeals to anyone who can speak, from small children to fully grown adults

Why would I have a headache? Are they bad?
I remember loving the Hobbit when I was little :) So I think you're right, it doesn't count

It seems I cannot read more than 3 books per day, or else my brain gonna suffer a rough headache. It's like if my brain could advice me about he's enough of INFO and he needs to rest.

I actually have read all of those! And I love them! The problem is that they can sometimes be hard to find :(

I read the Hobbit in 7th grade, after I finished Lord of the Rings.
Dragonlance is good, also there's this book called the "Misenchanted Sword". I really like that book, it's interesting.
