I have the honour of posting here to present to you: Metric Beyond! It's a simple web browser extension that automatically converts all imperial units to metric units, on the D&D Beyond website. The conversion is based off the official translations of the rule books! Finally those of us unfamiliar with imperial units will be able to consistently play D&D in our favourite unit system: the metric system. This extension does its job while taking very very little space and resources, for the greatest of pleasure.
So without further ado, here are the answers to a few questions you may be asking yourselves:
What does it do exactly?
Well, simply enough, it will automatically convert all imperial units on the D&D Beyond website to metric units. In its first version, the extension is limited to character sheets and monster description pages. BUT! It will very soon be updated to work on the entire website.
But test it for yourself, you'll see how wonderful it is!
It also free and open-source, and it will remain this way forever.
How to use Metric Beyond?
Simply download the extension depending on where you want it installed. Here is the list of links:
For Safari on iPhone/iPad, it is available on the App Store
For Safari on Mac, it is also available on the App Store
Safari users, remember to enable the extension in the settings:
On iPhone/iPad: Open the Settings App > Scroll down and tap on Safari > Scroll down and tap on Extensions > Tap Metric Beyond > Enable Metric Beyond > Under Permission allow dndbeyond.com
On Mac: Open Safari > Click on Safari in the top left corner > Click on Settings > Click on Extensions > Tick the box next to Metric Beyond.
The first time you use the extension, it will ask for access to the D&D Beyond website, choose always allow. And you're done ! Now let the extension work its magic.
Does Metric Beyond work on the D&D Beyond app?
No. Metric Beyond is a web browser extension and thus only works on the supported browsers, i.e. Safari, Chrome and Firefox. It is not possible to modify the D&D Beyond app, only D&D Beyond themselves can do that.
Can I use it on my Android device?
Why yes you can, dear friend! As things are on Android devices, you will need to install the browser Kiwi on which you'll be able to install the Chrome version of Metric Beyond.
(NOTE: I have not tested this browser myself and I don't have any affiliation with them, I am simply relaying the information I found. So you are more than welcome to search for a browser on android, that supports extensions.)
I need more info, where can I get them?
Metric Beyond is free and open-source so I created a GitHub repository here where you can find the source code of the extension and check for yourself that it doesn't do anything malicious. On this same page you will also find more information on Metric Beyond.
That's all folks! I hope you will find this little project of mine to be useful, because that's what's intended. In the meantime, take care of each other.
Glad you like it ! Yep, just took a quick glance at those translations and they all have the same conversion rates, which are the ones that the extension uses. Actually thanks for that because I was wondering if the conversions were the same across languages, and now we know !

What a great resource thank you!
With the release of translations of the Systems Reference Document (SRD) into French, Italian, German, and Spanish I see they have metric within them; have you confirmed the same as the previous translations?
Hi there !
Glad you like it ! Yep, just took a quick glance at those translations and they all have the same conversion rates, which are the ones that the extension uses. Actually thanks for that because I was wondering if the conversions were the same across languages, and now we know !
I don't understand why wizards don't have these available in English, they have it available why not offer it.
I'm in Australia we've been metric for 50 yrs, I have to explain miles etc at the table with all new players it's annoying.
So thank you for your work.
I'm amazed it works with the source books!!! GREAT WORK!!
