I take out a completely non-sentient magic detector which merely displays a scale of how closely magic readings it detects match a given other magic reading. I then take out a giant box of quartz, scan it with the detector for the first magic reading, put the box back in my splorf of holding, and scan the goblin with it. since the only input it gives me is how similar the magic is, it should be able to tell me whether or not the goblin has recently been exposed to quartz, and how strongly it affected him.
I return, entering through the hole in the wall. Hello, I am back now. As I say this, i return through the hole in the wall. I have gotten the thing i needed! as I continue to stand in place and explain things, I walk over to the goblin. It was a clone of me, you see! while those words exit my mouth, my eyes mutate slightly, becoming much more resilient to injury, and a large tumour sprouts from the back of my head. This way, I can learn about the goblin while retaining my sanity! The Clone proceeds to cast true vision, lengthened wakefulness, and continued focus, before focusing on the goblin.the Tumour is a miniature brain, to store the memories of this experience in multiple, smaller, digestible chunks, in case the clone ends up not in a state conducive to relaying its discoveries. and no, I do not care about the ethics of what I am doing. Let's see what happens!

I scan the goblin for lingering passive magic, to see if the quartz explosion indeed occurred or is but a rumor.
Madness? Bah, I worship beer! How much madder can you get? I turn back the truesight setting and stare deeper, deeper.
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Oh, Oh! This is nothing compared to what I have seen though! If only you could see, if only!
Ummm... what exactly did I see?
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Perhaps... It was the dark one...
I quickly share this to the wall. Since I can't see where anybody is.
