I used to keep careful statistics on how long it took us to reach the goal, and my records show we have been rolling statistically more times than should be necessary to finish these later challenges. I had problems with my old computer and had to create a new gmail account when I got a replacement. That took about a year and the whole time we were rolling 4d8. So I was away from this thread for about a year and we didn't achieve the 32 in the 4-d8 challenge. That's crazy. I have only one first claim in all these challenges. But I enjoy the probability and statistics so much, I just can't stay away, but I can take a break.

4d8=20 WHAAT? Cadenza is MusicScout? Also @golden, that is correct.But it is not just a rough estimate, but the exact probability of rolling a 32 with 4d8s on any given roll. (well at least if you have fair dice, or a not broken dicerolling forum engine)

(1 x 4) / (8 x 8 x 8 x 8) = 1 / 1024.
This is because we require a specific number on each roll, so we have 1/8 chance of getting the right number for each one, but multiplied by 4 because the 7 could appear in any of the four rolls of the 8-sided die.
So, what are the chances of rolling three 8s and something else?
