The person will contuine, for another 30 minutes, after that will backtrack
After 20 minutes, you fall into a sinkhole...
And fall down into the Base Cave, taking 3 fall damage.

Does it seem neat
no, it's roughly carved. neat would be finely, carefully carved.

As you do so, a circular wave of sparks, like a drop into still water, shimmers from the point of contact, revealing intricate engravings that begin to gently glow with a warm yellow light; and in the process, an empty socket in the bottom of the basin is revealed.

You can tell that something should be there; on the bottom is an embossed tridecagram (13-pointed star), and the socket itself has 13 sides that bear a strange pattern of grooves and ridges.
