As you walk into the next room, Thoruk doesn't seem to be following you, and looking back, he has disappeared, along with the foxes he & Jerry had tamed.
You step into a large study. The room is lit by a steady light coming from several glass orbs set into a chandelier of crystals hanging on silver chains. The carpet is rich but seems very old - the whole room gives off a pervasive fustiness as you walk in. Looking around, you notice with little surprise that the door you walked in through has, as usual, disappeared.
Looking around the room, you see a large pedestal desk dominating the space, with several neat stacks of paper and a small wooden box set out on its engraved leather top, and a large, comfortable looking chesterfield-style leather chair (the ones with all the buttons pulling the leather in all over the surface).
On the wall opposite you is a wooden panelled door. Beside the door is an umbrella stand, which appears to have been made from the foot of a Bulette, containing an assortment of walking sticks.
In the middle of the wall to your right, behind the desk & the chair, is a long, thin sword on a wooden plaque, above which hangs a painting of the room you're standing in, with a stern looking man wearing a hat and gentlemans clothes standing with his hand resting on the chair, glowering out at the room.
The most notable feature, however, is the wall on your left - or the lack thereof. Where the wall should have been, there is instead a huge window, and through it you look out onto a monstrously enormous version of the study you're stood in. Every detail appears the same, and on the opposite wall - the wall you're currently looking through - there are dozens of paintings, similar to the one behind you, but the characters have changed - instead of the stern looking man, you see people of every race and age - some sitting at the desk, some curled up on the floor, others hammering at the walls or painted as though they were pressing their hands ahainst the canvas from the other side. None of them are moving.
With creeping horror, you realise that you're looking out of a painting on the wall, right where the painting is behind you.
Oof, well that’s a… neat room. A person dressed in fancy clothes and wearing a crown appears, they look around the room then at you guys with a increasing expression of horror on there face. “Where am I?!?!” He starts gripping the crown on his head, apparently appalled by his surroundings.
Alexander gives the newcomer a sympathetic look. "I can't tell you much, as I am not entirely sure myself. I thought I died earlier, but something seems to be keeping me in this place." Then, realizing that this person must be some form of nobility he straightens himself, and inclines his head slightly, "Nevertheless, fear not my lord. I and my comrades will do what we can to keep you safe as we journey through these perilous chambers." He turns his attention back to the room around him, finding himself a bit disoriented by the window and unsettled by the various paintings, which he assumes are other poor souls who have been trapped in this place. Then he moves to investigate the pedestal with the papers and the wooden box.
Investigation check: 3
Edit: wow, he must be really distracted by the window and the other paintings
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Awww Great! You better not be as prissy as you look." Kay, who has a discussed expression, points a finger at the newcomer. "And don't you think for one moment that just because you wear fancy cloths, you can order me around." She moves closer to the newcomer. "And guess what! Your dead! So that means any privileges you got from being noble or whatever are gone!" She pauses for a moment. "At least i think we're all dead. That's the only explanation I can think of." She shrugs. "Plus if I'm dead and your all dead that means my criminal record, and your noble status means nothing here! Isn't it great!"
Kay looks around the room. "Well this is interesting isn't it?" She moves to examine the sword on the plaque.

“I like your attitude! Keep that up! We need to get you a promotion, hmmm where’s my scepter…?” They look around and seem not to find anything “well that’s not good, I can’t officially promote you without my scepter…”

“I DONT like your attitude, my patron will hear about this! And we can’t be dead silly, my patron is from the heavens and I would certainly end up there and I don’t see them! We’re obviously not dead. Now keep that attitude up and we can put you in jail! Do I still have a jail…? We’ll have to build one! Get to it! Chop chop!”
Kay briefly stops examining the sword and the plaque and snorts, "Ha! You wish!"
(What happened to Mendigo by the way? That was his name right?
Also what race is Angelino? Just Curious.)
Ha, he looks human, he’s aasimar though. Mendigo has either powered down, or they got killed in the blast with Jerry and didn’t revive. What ever makes most sense for the story.

Alexander, you look over the pedestal desk and find the papers are written in a largely unintelligable scrawl, as though a dentist was pen-pals with a doctor and writing in a hurry with the wrong hand, on a moving vehicle. The box on the desk is not locked, and opens to reveal several bottles of ink and a quill.
Pedestal desks are these ones, for improved imagery:
Then Harmony will examine the painting in our room. Investigation: 5 Perception: 27
The painting of the room exactly matches the room you're stood in, except for the figure stood by the desk. The figure is wearing a black hat with a feather in it, a black overcoat with floral patterns stitched into it, a gold monocle and a red bow tie. He is holding a cane, which has a ducks head for a handle. hanging from the pocket of the overcoat you can see a silver looking chain, which you might expect from a pocket watch. Clearly, the man was very wealthy, and perhaps a little eccentric!
You also notice that the wallpaper beside the painting is a little scuffed, as though the painting has been removed and put back on quite frequently.
Kay looks around the room. "Well this is interesting isn't it?" She moves to examine the sword on the plaque.
Investigation 18
Edit: I guess I should roll perception as well 19
The sword on the plaque is very thin and straight, and all told is about 3 feet long. The pommel (the weight behind the handle) is shaped like a ducks head. You feel like it could easily be an unsheathed sword-cane.
(What happened to Mendigo by the way? That was his name right?
Also what race is Angelino? Just Curious.)
Mendigo has disappeared along with Thoruk and the foxes. Perhaps he is even now carrying the shattered remains of his former master to the top of a mountain, that his funeral pyre can light the very skies themselves.
I like that end for Mendigo. “So, what are we doing in here? I still don’t get what’s going on. Is this a elaborate joke from my jester?!?! That would be well set up!”
Alexander stares at the scrawling for a moment, then picks them up and turns to Angelino. “I’m afraid not my lord, this is no joke. I have no idea how any of us got here, all I know is that it is some sort of test. We must find our way out of whatever room we are placed in.” He shows Angelino the papers with the writing, “Do you have any inkling as to what this says? The meaning eludes me.” Alexander is completely convinced that the writing must be some sort of shorthand or coded message.”

“I have absolutely no clue! That bit about us needing to get out off here is worrying, are there traps? Do I need to worry about dying? I guess that goes for you lot in here too… IS ANYONE GOING TO TRY TO KILL ME?!?!?!” Angelino shouts.
Who’s gonna dm next room?

Wow, that was weird variation. If we needed investigation, Harmony‘s in trouble.
