Loyal servants of Dusk, rejoice, for you have been selected for a most important mission. The time has come to take the heretics of the upstart rebel groups that call themselves the Brazen Coalition, the Sun Empire, and the River Heralds well in hand, and you will have the privilege of being the first soldiers of the Legion to set foot on the continent of Ixalan since Saint Elenda. Godspeed, and may your faith preserve you.

The worlds of Magic: the Gathering are practically dripping with magic, so everyone gets a free cantrip or psionic talent. Your spellcasting ability for it is your choice of Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma. Calculate your spell attack bonus and/or spell save DC normally.
In place of Common is a crude Trade-Tongue, completely unusable for anything complicated. There are also two faction-specific languages--Itzocan for the Sun Empire and Coalition Pidgin for the Brazen Coalition--as described at the bottom of page 6 of Plane Shift Ixalan. You all know Trade-Tongue.
If you roll a 1 on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you automatically fail. If you would have failed anyway, you critically fail.
If you roll a 20 on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you automatically succeed. If you would have succeeded anyway, you critically succeed.
Inspiration stacks and functions as non-renewable Luck Points.
We'll be using the XGtE optional rules for tools.
Use standard array or point buy for stats.
Please, if you won't be able to post for a few days or longer, tell me so I can play your character for you until you get back.
I'm looking for 4-5 players, preferably at least moderately experienced.
Devious serpent folk devoid of compassion, yuan-ti manipulate other creatures by arousing their doubts, evoking their fears, and elevating and crushing their hopes. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.
Shouldn't you have a couple skills from class? And doesn't the Acolyte background give languages? And did you somehow manage to forget your racial stat bonuses?

Oh, I felt like I was forgetting something, I'll fix all of that later today.

"The hero sought to save the world.
"If I keep trying, I'll be able to win," the hero thought.
But the harder the hero fought, the further the world seemed to tumble away.
Drowning in doubt, the hero could not even save themselves.
Hero, if you still believe in a brighter future, hold in your heart a thorn that can pierce all doubt."
There are no elves on Ixalan. The available languages are Trade-Tongue (which you know instead of Common), Vampire (which you know because you're vampires), Merfolk, Orc, Siren, Goblin, Itzocan (the language of the Sun Empire), and Coalition Pidgin (the language of the Brazen Coalition).

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both" -- allegedly Benjamin Franklin
Yeah, I accidentally forgot all of the background features/skills, and happened to add insight and religion as my monk class skills. This should be good. What's our status on the other two?
I'd be interested in playing a College of Whispers Bard. I can type up a build after work. No problem posting during the day - just can't really build a character on my phone that easily.

Interesting, I'll play Monk, Way of Long Death. I'll get to creating him/her now, if I'm permitted that is.

I'll hop in on this. This will give my other character some insight on where he is from.
Dragonlance Chronicles - Xorn
Sail On, Sailor - Sebastian Blackhand
LMoP 20 - Tonk Thunderclaw

If theres still a spot open, Id love to try a some variation of a vampiric barbarian, sounds like a fun class to roleplay
