For a group that will allow slight homebrew for a personal campaign. It's still in Forgotten Realms. I want this quest to take place at, at least level 10.
Two additional gods. One is a god of law, order, discipline and undeath. Strictly lawful evil. All of his paladins have the Oath of Conquest. Clerics are Death Domains. The other god, is a goddess of mercy, compassion, forgiveness, merriment and mischief. The goddess has lots of Trickery Clerics. The two went to war, with the god of undeath just absolutely flooding the continent with undead. In response, the Goddess allowed her angels(or whatever chaotic good outsiders there are), with the goddess winding up winning. It's been seven years since... the outsiders are still here. And starting to place themselves above the people they were meant to serve. The God of Undeath barely has a following anymore, while the goddess has gone blind and deaf to the continent. Concerned, she lifts her attention to Faerun, looking for a champion to go to the continent.
Are you DMing this or are you looking for a group with a DM? The DM is the one who defines the world you are living in and adventuring in. If that is you then great, what are the rules to get involved? If that is not you then you may find it difficult to define the world you want to adventure in when a DM is already defining it.
I am not DMing. It will be difficult. I know. But I have a personal story I wish to be told(to a degree, since the DM will be the one that has the major reigns) for a character of mine.
I might be interested in a game like this. I've never done PbP before but have been looking for a group to join.
I have a Death Domain Cleric that I built on a whim that may fit your story - Dame Ixtab. I've been slowly filling in her origin/etc but can modify to fit the campaign.
Let me know!

She won't be happy with what she finds.
