Everyone knows each other, and you all have just gotten off a ship coming to Toreds Island. You are in a small coastal town named Geomead, where there is a small tavern, a supplies shop, a smithery, and not much else. You see a few small groups of people coming off the ship, dispersing around the town.

Moka nods to his companions as they depart the boat.  "Don't like boats. Find rooms, or sleep outside?".  He speaks common fluently enough but prefers to be choppy and blunt, enjoying being underestimated as just another stupid half orc.

Moka is apprehensive about hanging out in town and enduring the looks he gets due to his visible heritage but glad to be with people who understand, perhaps more than even he does. This trio will never be truly accepted anywhere. He's also very glad to be off that damn boat. It wouldn't do for his image to be caught being sea sick but he had to throw up several times during their ride.

He shines a toothy grin at Akutril. "Maybe we go drink, and find lady for you to bite." Shaking his light purse he jokes further: "Could use some work. Maybe go dice and smash skulls!"

Akutril steps off of the boat, glad to be away from so much water. It doesn't hurt him like it would have his mother, but it still stings a little. He bares his pristinely white smile at Moka's jest. "I suppose we could seek some housing, though I'm not sure where one looks for work in a town as small as this. Either of you have any idea?"

"The tavern. Always things to hear in taverns."

"Ah, yes. To the tavern then?" Akutril looks back towards the boat. "Moonlit should be along any minute, and finding two people like us in a town as small as this ought to be incredibly easy."

Akutril starts walking in the direction of the tavern, taking note of the local's response to their small group as he goes.

 Not in particular. You mainly see people like you who are coming to the island to see family or to try their chances in the wilderness for whatever reason. There is also a merchant or two coming off the boat, but you can infer that that is how they get goods coming in.

Moka grunts in agreement and follows along beside Akutril, putting on a stern look as if to dare someone to say something to them.

Yes.

You go into the small local tavern. There is a small list of things around town, mostly quick jobs for adventurers to go to the next town, etc. There is also a small map of the surrounding area. There is a female orc talking to the bartender.

Moka raises an eyebrow at the sight of an orc being welcome here. He tries to find a spot at the bar so he can eavesdrop on the orc. Not wanting to interrupt the conversation he avoids making eye contact with the bartender and sits facing away from the bar to surveil the room.

Make a perception check to see if you can hear anything from their conversation.
