Hello all. I'm been playing and DMing PbP for a few months and I really enjoy it. As it is October, I'd like to run Curse of Strahd, darnit. Of course, it will take longer than a month, but I think it will be a lot of fun. I'm looking for 4-5 players. You will start at 1st level.

It is very easy to die in Barovia. There is a very good chance your character will die (having a back-up character is not a bad idea). But what is horror, if not the pitting of the weak against powerful forces of evil?

As a result of this dark pact, Chara was born with the appearance of a fiend but, contrary to her appearance, she was a kind soul. When her father was eventually killed fighting against Strahd, Chara cried out in anguish. As the young woman lay sobbing on her father's grave, she heard a kind voice call out to her. Looking up to the sky, she perceived a powerful celestial being. This being of light offered her a pact like the one her father had made. But unlike her father, she would not become an agent of darkness. She was being asked to become a beacon of light to push back the darkness consuming her home. With nothing left to lose and nowhere left to call home, Chara took the pact that the being offered her.
Trinket: I would like something specifically from Barovia, if possible. Something that belonged to Chara's father that she could keep to remember him by and remind herself what she's fighting for.

Her father is from a mysterious location named Laos, somewhere that not even his daughter knows about; How he came to Barovia remains unknown to this day onwards, but he is still in there somewhere. Mahina became an adventurer after both parents disappeared whilst waking up one day before her 5th birthday and coming into contact with a mysterious spirit in her head whilst searching for them. She bonded with the voice and harnessed her own powers to inflict damage and heal herself and others with the powers of her mother. One day, Mahina found blood in her house and a note that came from her mother telling her that she and her father had been intercepted by the Count and captured against their own will, causing her to set foot and hunt down the vampire with vengeance before her mother could be killed by him and her father be yet another victim turned into an undead... or worse, another vampire thirsting for blood.

This time he focused on Kristyl's family. Kristyl had already started to build up a rebellious side, so when he showed up, she naturally wanted to push back. This is something Count Von Zarovich could not allow and made an example out of her family. Before he left, he strung up her father, mother and her brother, leaving only her and her younger sister to be orphans. This created a hole in her heart, something that only one thing could fill. Vengeance on Count Von Zarovich.

Public Backstory: If asked, he was a guard for a major import/export company that fell apart when they unknowingly came across Barovian relics that brought froth a vestige of the great vampire sent to retrieve them, kill everyone from the company to take it back. While called crazy when question, he left to find the one who killed his friends.
If asked by authorities, Dustin was hired muscle of a smuggling operation that smuggled in all matter of illegal items. After a very bad deal that left almost everyone dead, the relics missing and Dustin only known survivor found at the scene, sufferings from disillusions. His whereabouts are unknown after he escaped custody and is on the run.

Public Backstory:
If asked, he was a guard for a major import/export company that fell apart when they unknowingly came across Barovian relics that brought froth a vestige of the great vampire sent to retrieve them, kill everyone from the company to take it back. While called crazy when question, he left to find the one who killed his friends.
If asked by authorities, Dustin was hired muscle of a smuggling operation that smuggled in all matter of illegal items. After a very bad deal that left almost everyone dead, the relics missing and Dustin only known survivor found at the scene, sufferings from disillusions. His whereabouts are unknown after he escaped custody and is on the run.
