Placeholder. I'm Interested but will be PMing questions. To get 2 out of the way, how do we roll stats in the thread? I thought that was at character creation? And in order rolled, or arrange as wanted?

If you are on an actual computer, when posting there is a bunch of icons at the top to format posts and such. On the far right on one that looks like a 6 sided die showing a 3. Click that and get a pop up window. The third tab will be Ability Scores. Click that and you have some options... And when you hit OK it'll put the dice roll data into your post.
DO NOT edit that post after posting, also best to not type anything above or in front of the dice roll text as those are both likely to cause the dreaded Manipulated Dice Roll warnings... Best practice is to do a single post of just the stats and then quote that post for the rest of the character details...
IF you are posting from a mobile phone it is more difficult but I believe most will still show the icons if you hold the phone in landscape mode (sideways) when posting...
Generally you can place rolls where you want but that's definitely a DM call thing so *shrug*
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
With ashen gray skin and dark soot colored hair, yet vibrant violet eyes, the young elf Klien is a striking sight to behold, yet few have. He was raised by his mother alongside two younger sisters, far from the edges of civilization. Forbidden to interact with the men and women of the village. "Run and hide, my little shadows, if anyone comes near!" She'd always chide. They lived in the wilds and foraged, his mother an herbalist, alchemist, and seer. They did what little commerce the needed through a trusted young human medicine woman named Abigail. They lived this way for what seemed an age, and Klien knew the passing of time more in this human woman his mother trusted than in himself or his sisters, and by the time he had matured into a young adult, the woman was already frail and elderly.
Klien had followed in his mothers footsteps, and learned the seeing ways, what herbs to pick and what potions to brew, how to survive on the land. But Abigail taught him too, about faith in gods, in spiritual matters. And eventually this divine power blossomed in Klien, too, though for him it took after his nature, of darkness, of shadow, of dusk.
Klien always yearned to meet others, to set out into the world, to be of use and to have friends. Yet it was forbidden. The dangers, his mother would say, were too great. And so he minded her warnings, until a time came when his youngest sister fell ill and took fever. Then the other sister, and then his mother. Klien desperately searched for the remedies that could cure these ills but came up empty handed, and so went to Abigail to get help. But she wasn't home, her house dark. In a panic, he broke the rule, to stay hidden, and ran to town, to find the market, to find a cure for his family. But in his haste he found a crime scene instead.
He didn't even see the body before he tripped over it. Realizing she wasn't yet dead, but had suffered a lot of blood loss he swallowed his fear and tried to help the mangled girl. So focused on saving her he didn't realize that the creature that had attacked her was still there, watching his futile struggle from the shadows. Klien normally sees everything in the dark, yet it had eluded his notice until it started laughing. It wasn't a happy laugh. It was hallow. It lacked humanity. Inhuman. Klien turned to see what manner of creature thought this situation so funny and felt a sharp pain at the back of his head and was out.
He nearly died that day. A month passed before he woke again, the trauma to his head that severe. He awoke in Abigail's small home, and she broke several hard truths to him. His mother and sister had been taken by a plague while he was recovering, that the villagers had burnt his secluded forest home to the ground to purify it. He stayed with Abigail for some time, for him it was brief, a period of mourning, but for the human woman who cared for him it was measured in her last years. In time, he buried her. And while standing there at her fresh grave, he swore he'd not hide any longer. He swore he would not stay isolated and alone. He swore the creature that had kept him from his family would pay for his crimes. Many of his memories were now muddled and disjointed, but he remembered that inhuman laugh, and he remembered a face. And he new it belonged to a name, Strahd.

Brief Public Backstory: My mother was attacked by Strahd while pregnant with me. In the womb, as she was transformed into a vampire, where I receive my Dhampir abilities. Raised by the Valkari, learned the fine art of fighting, becoming an adventurer and monster hunter. In time, when old enough he hunted down his vampire mother and ended her pain. Now he pursues Strahd and his minions, seeking revenge.
1. Why you have decided to become an adventurer-I use my special skills for the highest bidder, but dedicate myself in the hunting of Strahd's minions
2. Why, specifically, do you have a grudge against Count von Zarovich? As stated above, he turned my mother into a vampire. I seek vengeance Do you want an exclusive Barovian trinket? Yes 78 (Dagger size shark tooth)
I apologize for communicating poorly. You will get a secret if you are chosen for the game. However, go ahead and DM me with your backstory (secret or regular) and we will talk about figuring out how you fit in the campaign.
Brief Public Backstory: Onika has always been considered weak in Barovia, but she and her two oldest friends were never content with that life, so they tried to build a new one. Years of accumulating magic and preparing for the ritual came to a head on one starry night. The three of them were ready, Onika would be the first to transform into a hag. They began the ritual, but had evidently drawn the ire of Strahd during the collection of their materials. He interceded and stopped the ritual from succeeding. A partially transformed Onika awoke the following day, lacking much of her former power and both of her allies. She would search for them, find them somewhere in Barovia, then they'd go after the one truly at fault for all of this.
Barovian Trinket: 8 (A pocket watch that runs backward for an hour every midnight)
If you don't want to be a human or a dusk elf, then please write me and talk to me about what you want. I need to have a reason for you to be in Barovia. It isn't impossible, but it will require some discussion between you and me. Dhampirs are possible. Werewolves are tricky, but I can talk to you about it. Other werecreatures are possible, but you need to talk to me. Same for Reborn.
What if I want to be a half-fairy half-harengon Barbarian/Chronomancer, huh? what about that? Who is visiting Barovia to complete his guide The Eleven Most Depressing Places in the Multiverse?

Thanks for the clarification.
I think I sent a PM already on the subject, though I'm not entirely sure.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
I am a new dnd player so please tell me if I did anything wrong. I'm confused what a trinket roll is.
Name: Byron Strongarm
Race: Human
Class: Fighter (or maybe artificer)
Alignment: NG
Background: Guild Artisan
Brief Public Backstory: Byron grew up in Barovia. He worked as a blacksmith in Vallaki. There, along with his husband, Aster, the two lived peacefully. They became known through out the realm for their work. Aster especially was especially skilled in the creation of jewelry. One day, a man from Castle Ravenloft approached the smiths. He commissioned a beautiful necklace in the name of Strahd. However, despite Aster making his single best piece of jewelry, Strahd was not impressed. Several guards from the castle soon came to the smiths and took Aster away while Byron was out. Upon returning home, Byron grabbed his hammer and began to train, hoping to one day find his husband or avenge him.
