you all arrive on the ship called the requiem and travel the day to the land of Chult to port nazaru at first glance you think the captain of the ship has got it wrong as the once open and welcoming port city now is fortified with walls and towers around the outskirts and the jungle it self seeming burnt away for a couple of hundred feet so that if an attack does happen theirs less cover than it would usually be
the ship docks and you are meet with a man 5,7 in height a spear in one hand and wearing a breastplate
“hello their you must be the adventurers that we were informed of my name is Jim varyis master of arms here whilst the conflict is happening, you are” gestures to the group he knows looks at
A large half orc strolls foward to meet the man. He gives off a look of having just crawled out of the woods. His kin has a greenish brown hue like he is covered in soil. His armor is tinted green with vines and moss interweaved in the chain and on his back is a helm with antlers on it.
Good Day and well met Noble Master of Arms. I am Sir Garmuk of Greensbrook, Warden of the Wood, Knight of Silvanus. I wish our meeting was under more peaceful conditions.
While the half-orc and the bugbear may seem strange, they have nothing on the next being to step off the ship. The being has roughly the shape of a human woman... but she is clearly anything but human. A huge yellow eye dominates most of her face, and her skin glistens with moisture. Ten huge tentacles protrude from beneath a mass of tangled black hair that goes all the way to her feet, and at the end of each tentacle is another yellow eye. All ten eyes sweep the area as she heads down the gangplank, leaving a thin trail of slime as she does so. The central eye in the middle of her face fixes on the armored man curiously. She smiles, revealing a set of sharp teeth that look like they might belong to a shark.
"Hello, humans and humanoid creatures,"she says, trying to sound friendly. "Adventurers? I suppose that is a nicer thing to call us than hired killers. My name is Violet, and I am... a magic-user. Oh, and a Beholder spawn, if my mentor told me truly."
She walks up to the others and uses several of her eye stalks to observe each of them closely at the same time... perhaps getting a little bit close for comfort as she does so.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Next up steps a very stately Dragonborn. “Good day to you and to my fellow warriors. My name is Xisrinn Daardendrian. A Twilight Priest of Paladine and a descendant of Sardior. I was instructed to join this very team by Paladine himself. “
In appearance he is light blue in color and is wearing priestly robes with armor underneath. He carrys a war hammer and cross bow with a shield across his back.
"Ah a fellow knight, well met Sir Gromedark. Good reach you have bet our enemies will have a hard time getting around you. We will have to spar and get to know each other better."
Garmuk turns to the others.
"What a fine hunting party are we! Ha ha ha Nature's bounty is grand this day!"
The sailor grinned and saluted the master at arms. "Greetings, sir!" he said in a deep, but jovial voice. "My name's Namor. Sailor. Fighter. Warlock. Adventurer. Glad to be of service!"
Violet takes a few more moments to observe all of her new travelling companions. Then, she stretches and yawns, blinking her many eyes a few times. Finally, she fixes all eleven of her eyes on the man who greeted them at the dock.
"I don't know about the others... but I just spent the past week confined below deck because the captain thought I was scary. So I'm ready to go get out and do something interesting... Mr. Jim Varyis, where should we go from here?"
Violet laughs as Gromedark stares at her and tries to apologize.
"And I don't think I've met... well... anyone of any of your races, actually,"Violet replies, turning her face to look at Gromdark while her other eyes remain on Varyis. "Excepting the humans... I actually saw quite a lot of humans at the temple where I was raised. And I can guarantee that I'll stare at all of you sometimes; it's hard not to when you have as many eyes as I do. So don't bother to apologize when your eyes wander in my direction."
"Ah last I've see one of your kind my friend was vaporized. Glad you fight on my side this time HA ha ha, but not to be rude... do we look at the big eye or one of the smaller ones when addressing you... and no death rays right? Can you do that or is that something only a true beholder can do cause that would be real useful"
Violet turns her attention away from the armored human to speak to Garmuk.
"Well... when you're talking to me I would prefer if you look at the big eye,"she says after a moment's consideration. "I can shoot several rays... most of them probably aren't as powerful as a true Beholder's, but they are still quite potent."
You see the master of arms seem great and happy with everyone’s introductions then hearing the vapourising story has a bit of horror on his face “right then follow me” he takes you to the city itself everything here has been change to fit the defence effort he explains “when this war started we have taken an approach of naturally only defending are self” he gets handed something and quickly signs it off “the scale guard holds the east side of the island whilst the forces of Tiamat holds the west side, we don’t know who leads them but they are formidable” you walk to the most northern gate then the bells ring
the of the guards yell “get to COVER” as a balister like bolt is fire roping the corner of the tower away you hear Jim yell “drop the gate” as it does just before it hits the ground a hand mad out bone holds it as zombies with a white command rush into the gate
War, hidden by the jungle but war still

Garmuk has true joy on his face. He turns to follow the others.
