Only a foolhardy adventurer would embark on such a perilous quest, without first finding out as much as possible about Firetop Mountain. That is why you have travelled to the village of Gilford. A sleepy village with a small population, Gilford is situated just 2 days travel from Firetop Mountain. When you arrive, you make your way to the local tavern, the Unicorn Run. The Unicorn Run is a well-kept establishment, providing good meals and fine ales. It is owned and run by Otto Stormcloud, a retired human adventurer who bought the tavern many years ago.
Most of the locals here are of a friendly nature and when they hear of your plan to visit Firetop Mountain, they offer you a pint of ale and a chat. Many rumours circulate about the Mountain. There seems to be some truth in the story of the Warlock's treasure being kept in a magnificent, ornate chest with two locks; the keys to these locks being guarded by creatures within the dungeon. The Warlock himself is a sorcerer of great power. Some describe him as young, others as a frail old man. Some say his power comes from an enchanted deck of cards, others from a silky black glove that he wears. The entrance to the Mountain is guarded by warty faced Goblins, stupid creatures, fond of their food and drink. Towards the inner chambers, the creatures become more fearsome. To reach the inner chambers you would have to cross a fast flowing river. The ferry service is regular, but the ferryman enjoys a good barter, so save a couple of gold for the trip. The locals also encourage you to keep a map of your wanderings, for without a map you may end up helplessly lost within the Mountain.
It seems that many adventurers have used Gilford as a starting point for their trek to Firetop Mountain. Not many have returned though, those that did spoke seldom and then only to warn others that they should stay away.
Rumours of your trip to the Mountain pass swiftly about the village. On the morning that you decide to head off to Firetop Mountain, Otto and several of the regulars from the Unicorn Run show up to wish you a fond farewell and good luck on your quest. Otto hands each adventurer a glass vial containing a glimmering red liquid . Otto explains that they are potions of healing. You shake Otto by the hand thanking him for his gift and promising him that you will soon return...

If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.
Virgil has never had a real home. His first memories are of the street. That was until he was taken in by the orphanage. Everyone was kind. There, he learn kindness. There he learned hard work paid off. So, he wanted to repay the town, so he learned to defend. He now seeks to help others.
Maloo was a kind and benevolent child all the other children liked him he won the favor of his oatron god - Moradin, the god of creation he was bestowed with divine favor at an early age and has been fighting in his gods name.
Born in the Darthian Forest just south of the Kilmar Moutains (the coldest part of the realm) and east of the Hemnor sea. My parents were killed at a young age by frost giants storming through the forest looking for food. I was sent to learn under and elder of my collective. While learning my skills of the forest I learned how to survive on my own. I have always be frugal almost to a fault and hate to waste resources. Once I reached the age of independence I went off on my own to find adventures unknown.
Carlthuzad (his few friends call him Carl) grew up in a library rather than walking the shafts of a mine or swinging a battle axe. He has a battle axe but it is notably without notches, evidence that it is not oft used. He had different skills than his brothers and sisters in his clan. He liked researching knowledge in the library, and looking through darker and deeper secrets. He gained an interest in the Bigtoe family history, and specifically their loss of status when a famed battle axe, an heirloom of their family was lost. There was a loss in status and prominence of their family, and Carl looked to set things aright.
After a dig that unearthed a lost stone city and library in the underdark, several books were brought back to the family library. No one else seemed to take an interest in them, but one day Carl took an interest and kept reading. In his mind, he kept thinking about the legendary battle axe and what he would do to recover it, to return his family’s status, to gain fame and notoriety among his kind. As he was pouring over the books (one he still has in his possession), after the many sleepless nights studying them, seeking hidden knowledge, it is almost as if he heard a reply in his mind, a voice that reached him, deep into his soul.
“REALLY?” the voice said, “YOU WOULD DO ANYTHING TO HAVE THIS KNOWLEDGE AND FIND THE AXE? REALLY? THAT CAN BE ARRANGED…”. He felt power grow in his hands, although with a dark foreboding feeling. He has no idea from who or where this power has come from, but he finds that he has powers now to achieve his goal, things that he doesn’t understand….
Carl has heard about Firetop Mountain and the Warlock’s treasure. He also feels that he might have knowledge about his ultimate goal, and perhaps the way through secret magics that would allow him to find it. Carl heads to Gilford to prepare himself to head to the mountain, hoping to join a group of adventurers to aid in his quest.
Class: Warlock 1 (The Fathomless)/Wizard 2 (School of Abjuration)
Alignment: ChaoticGood
Background: Entertainer
Backstory: Neil is an artist... known for feats of strength and a unique brand of magic! With big biceps and a bigger personality, Nelson is truly a special type of wizard!
But what few know is that he is not just a wizard... many years ago, he lived on the edge of a lake with his father. But he was strictly forbidden by his father from going into the water. He never knew why, but Neil was absolutely fascinated by that lake. So one night, when his father was passed out drunk on the couch, Neil snuck out to take a swim in the lake. And that was when it happened... as he swam, something took hold of him, dragging him into the depths. Neil tried to scream, begging for help... but all he could do was hasten the inevitable as his lungs rapidly filled with water. Then, a voice spoke to him, offering to let him live... but only if Neil would agree to one day do it a favor. Hours later, after striking a bargaining for his life, Neil emerged from the lake changed.
Over the years, he has done everything in his power to forget that nightmarish incident and the horrific creature that he met that dark night. He has used the thrill of performing to try to drown out those dark whispers that come to him in the night, and he has studied the magic art of abjuration to try and find a way to shield himself from the creature's influence. But in truth, he knows that he will never entirely escape that horrid thing from the depths...
Air genasi eldritch knight with thrown weapon style
As an air genasi, Brade is forever trying to live up to his djinni father's incredible expectations. Nothing is ever good enough to impress his wild and powerful force of nature of a father. Brade is always looking for more and more outrageous exploits for which he might finally earn approval, or at least catch his father's attention for more than a few moments.
Samuel Del Hanson - Once a poet, song writer, lute player of above average skill, son to a moderately successful merchant, educated with a small amount of magical skill, now somehow looks more like a vagabond and a trouble maker than a once semi-famous entertainer at court. His dashingly handsome good looks that made him as popular at court as his musical skills, are marred just slightly by a nose that has been broken in a bar fight and never healed quite right. A bar fight he had delighted in starting of course, along with many others. Some he had even won. Not many, but some. Samuel often wasn't too careful about who he picked his fights with. It wasn't like he wanted to lose fights of course, but he also didn't want to know for sure he was going to win. No fun in that. No fun at all. Those weren't the sort of antics however, that sat well with those stuffy, uptight patrons that he once sang and quoted poetry for. Samuel found quickly the palace life wasn't for him.
In his seedy clothes he now appears mostly suited to entertaining the questionable patrons of a grimy alehouse or house of ill repute, which suits Samuel just fine. That's were all the fun is anyways. He had traded his finely crafted, expensive lute for a serviceable, solidly built one that could be used to deliver a solid blow if Samuel felt it necessary to tip the scales a little more in his favor in an altercation that seemed a little to much of a fair fight for his liking. The plain, well worn rapier at his waist, he would never draw in a friendly little bar fight, but the dagger in his boot did make an appearance on more than one occasion.
Despite his slightly greasy and rough exterior, more often than not, Samuel is a friendly, outgoing guy, loved by everyone. Yeah, perhaps he has a little too much liking for strong drink, dangerous women, and occasionally, other peoples property, but he is a true entertainer, generous to the down trodden, and a loyal friend whose good points mostly overshadow his indiscretions. Mostly.
Samuel was raised right and taught that being a good person is important, but knows now that only gets you so far in life. The rest is up to good looks, good luck, and sometimes a well hidden dagger.
Naru is a young and extravagant man, very jovial the majority of the time, who used to be somewhat of a celebrity in his home village due to his personality and lack of shyness. He would perform both music and plays at anytime, anyday, and since he was pretty much the only entertainment in the village, the folks liked him for the distraction he offered.
So he got the brilliant idea to try and make it big in the city. Needless to say that without the connections or proper training, he was rejected from the major plays and venues, but he could still find work as an extra in some random plays, a small role in a basement somewhere in front of a few people, or playing music for the drunk patrons of dubious inns and taverns.
He loves to shove his knowledge of the entertainment industry down the throat of whoever dares to listen, more often than not comparing whatever the situation he's in to some play or another, most of which are completely unknown to everyone else.
Martha was a successful entrepreneur who build a thriving empire by teaching others how to cook and complete simple home improvement projects around their burrows. That is until crushing inflation and a run-in with the tax man brought the whole thing crumbling to the ground. Now she travels the land baking pies and other treats with extraordinary properties to warm the hearts adventures everywhere or to scald the tongues of her enemies.
Thank you! Loving the posts. I will message out to the chosen party as soon as I get home from work tonight. Very excited to get this show on the road.

I was born to a Githzerai Mother and a Kenku Father. Unfortunately, I do not know much about how they met. What I do know is that when they conceived me, they felt I would fit in best with the Feywild. They did their best to raise me as a young mixed race within a village of the fey. When they discovered that I developed my fathers mimicry, my mother helped teach me phrases she knew. She mostly spoke them in Sylvan or Common so that others could understand, but some she spoke in Gith.
Over time, while still in my youth, we came across some dryads. They did not initially trust us. However, we were able to befriend them as we used the forest for my training. The dryads became sociable with us and even agreed to help teach me more about nature here.
As I grew older, I spent less and less time with my family in the village. And more time in the forest with the dryads. They would train me as a ranger, taking me to missions and dungeons when we came across other traveling parties going to one. I never stuck with any group, always going back to the forest. The groups I came across didn't understand me anyway. Despite my mother's teachings, I was picking up more animal sounds and music to mimicry instead. Sounds of nature learned from their forest, and sounds of music learned from towns and adventuring parties.
