The age of sigusmund takes place in the world of jörð. There once was a great King, King Sigusmund he was a fine and noble leader though he could also be cruel and cunning. He used diplomacy and warfare to conquer most of the lands of talamh maith. A fertile area off grasslands perfect for farming and to the north great mountain ranges with a few small ones to the south with countless forrests and rivers. But from the mountains came a army of hobgoblions led by a great and evil sorcerer using fiendish magic. Sigusmund led an army with his vassels and allies with him combatting the evil hobgoblins. In the fighting Sigusmund engaged the sorcerer in single combat. The fight was long and hard but adventuly using his suppeior swordsmanship he feinted a blow which the sorcerer went to block and cut off one of his left arm. The sorcerer fell back and Sigusmund raised his sword to finish the fight the sorcerer intercepted with his staff cuasing such and a explosion that all became blind and deaf for nearly several minutes. When they could see again they saw the charred and dismembered remains of the sorcerer and they begain to cheer. However as they turned to look around they saw their king lying on the ground a large wound coming from his chest a stomach. His head to was fractured. With a fury at seeing their king injured the soldiers turned on the hobgoblins with such a fury it is said that for each soldier at least 50 hobgoblins were killed. After they had chased off the hobgoblins they returned to their king placing him on their shoulders and carried him off the battlefield. From there they took him to the great wizard Murdock. Crossing nearly 300 miles on foot to save their king. Murdock who, using all of his magic sacrificed his magic and became nothing more then a hedge wizard. The king, while saved was incappcited he could not move he could barrely think he is forever in a paing so great that it could destroy the strongest of men and sits un moving upon his golden throne. After the battle the empire started to fall apart. Small Kingdoms began to rise up in its place. The dwarfes distenced them selfs slightly while the elfs did so almost entirley. They had never trusted Sigusmend, respected yes, but not trusted. They viewed him as a double edged sword. Due to all this the empire holds no real power but neither do the lords, or the other kings. It is not entirely uncommun to see warbands passing through and lords and kingdoms rise and fall like fruit flies. It has been 500 years since the day were Sigusmunds body was slain.

Hello! Definitely an interesting setting background. What do you need for submissions, and/or do you have any special requests or stipulations for applicants (limited source books, stat generation method, race/class limits, high/low magic setting, etc.)?

Exactly how low magic are we talking about here?
Like any restrictions on classes? No spells above third level? Only ritual casting? Something else?
Class(es): Rogue (1) (eventually multiclassing into Ranger as a Gloom Stalker)
Backstory: Born in the Feywild under the blue moon (a bad omen, as it were) to noble elvish parents, Faylen Keabanise was an outcast from the start. For, she was born without a voicebox, unable to utter a single word. Her parents, utterly ashamed of her, cast her off into the Shadowfell plane, never to be seen again. Growing up in the dark horrors of the Shadowfell, she soon came under the watchful eye of the Raven Queen, who gave her the name of Daewen Pell (Sindarin for Hushed Shadow Maiden). Her melancholic visage and aptitude for hiding in shadows were of great use to the Raven Queen, who often sent her on missions to other planes to watch and wait, looking for the tragedies her Queen wished to collect. Being a mute has its advantages among the Shadar-Kai, as she's learned to hear things her fellow missionaries never assumed were worth paying attention to. It's these nuggets of information that the Raven Queen desires the most, and Daewen has reaped the benefits of being an immortal servant for untold centuries.

Backstory: Grew up in the monastery due to being orphaned at a young age. My chores usually consisted of cleaning the bowls and sweeping the halls. Occasionally I also dusted the library. This was my favorite as I could take extra time to browse the books. Time to time Id sneek a book back to my room.
Eventually I didn't need to sneek anymore. I was allowed to read and explore the available knowledge. The elder was very kind and wise. Besides encouraging my learning he ensured I acquired all the skills I'd need to live alone traveling. I think he knew that some day I'd leave the monastery, and he was right.
It was a late in the evening after dinner. I was reading over a book on the healing properties of herbs. It must have been my 6th time reading it. The elder entered my chamber and handed me a book I had never seen before. A book that was not kept in the library.
He said, "Dorian, it is time for you to discover the world outside these walls. Here you've already learned the most important lesson, look within and connect to without. Take that with you, and take this." He handed me a thin leather bound book. It was a book I had not seen in all my time in the library. "This book does not belong here. Take it with you. I believe you will learn it's purpose."
I left the monastery in the morning with little more than a few days rations, a walking stick, and that book. I've been traveling for a few weeks before coming to this town. I don't know where I'm headed next but I'm sure I'll learn something.
Background: Hermit ( i am thinking that 'Feature: Discovery' from that background could be implemented as Angramarha discovery of Giant runes in last paragraph of his backstory, thus implementing his ranger nature magic in this low-magic setting, and removing the burden from you of coming up with some discovery)
Backstory:
Born as a kid of truce marriage between Orc tribe and human village. The marriage supposed to be between family members of leaders, but neither side was willing, and truce was important to both. Orc put up weakest of their female, and Humans managed to convince a man to volunteer in exchange of absolving him from family's debt. Both sides figureheads posing as related to leadership of each side were wed. They lived in the outskirts of human settlement. The human name was Battual and Orcish woman was called Gastarta. Battual was wise and emphatetic while Gastarta was Inteligent and patient. They both tried to live their live to the fullest so decided to lean in that new situation. With that mindset, they started to learn about each other and learning their languages. Soon after they fell in love and Gastarta became pregnant. Their presence in settlement was kind of problematic from the very beginning, but it was all low-key passive aggressive since everyone understood the need of that. After many nights of talking and praying, Batual and Gastarta decided it will be the best for their family to move a little further, near base of the mountainside, and live there in serenity and happiness. That life was hard, but fulfilling. Those were the circumstances of birth for Angramarha - little chubby half-orc baby. Living outside of civilisation, he learned ways of the wilds with his parents.
Some years after being considered adult Angramarha's parents fell ill, he cared for them and tried different medicinal plants, but after long and painful suffering they both died. While searching for appropriate place of burial for his parents - his whole lost world, found himself at place he had not know before. Moonlight shine led him to hidden grotto. This place looked like other world within the mountain, was vast and beautiful, lively with little game and plenty of colorful bugs. Upon first sight he knew that is the place of rest for his parents.
When he was done with the burial he noticed that at specific time when moonlight shined from hole in the grotto ceiling, some walls shine faintly with dwarven runes (his father knew dwarven and orc language also uses dwarven runes) He spent nearly a year in that cave trying to decipher the runes and living in that hidden piece of paradise. He learned secrets of nature and its hidden magic from these scripts which were of Giant nature and heritage. Inspired by that discovery he felt like now is the time to decide what his life is going to be. The same as his parents did when his mother was pregnant with him. He is going to utilize everything his parents taught him, when they lived and after death (discovery in the cavern) to travel and help those in need. He wants to be to others what his parents was to him. He believes he got what it takes and that is what it is for.
