It's the start of a new school year and so what better way to kick it off with heading off to the magical school of Hogwarts Strixhaven! Come take new magical courses, meet new friends and make a name for yourself as you progress through 4 years of schooling fraught with daring escapades, meddling faculty and...exams. You did study, right?
For this particular campaign I'd like to have 5 players, one from each school: Lorehold, Prismari, Quandrix, Silverquill, and Witherbloom. Note that all students actually wait to choose their house at their second year, but it'll be good to plan ahead.
Please plan on being RP heavy, including forging relationships with other students.
Application Info:
Most races allowed (no homebrew)
Standard array or Point buy for stats
Highly recommended to pick the appropriate school background during character creation (as opposed to "Acolyte" for example)
Milestone leveling
Start with standard given equipment
You may add a short background story (but not necessary)
Remember any class can succeed in any of the schools! So feel free to be creative about why you plan on joining a particular house!
As always, remember PbP stories can take a while, so posting and checking regularly is really necessary. I will cancel the game if it just goes too long without responses.
But I look forward to see the next batch of students arrive!
Chara was born under a bad sign... the daughter of a warlock who made a dark pact with some infernal abomination. And because of her father's dark pact, she was born cursed, with the form of a fiend herself. No sooner was she born than her mother fled in terror from the "monster" that was her daughter.
Yet in spite of everything, Chara was a sweet, gentle girl. She wanted nothing more than to escape the infernal legacy that her father left her. She wanted to be able to bring some light and happiness into the world. And so she made a pact with a Celestial spirit, who saw that light in her soul and wanted to help her achieve her noble goals.
I have been wanting to play in a Strixhaven campaign again! I will say that I did play one that made it through the 2nd exam of the 1st year, so hopefully that's ok. (And another campaign that didn't make it through the first day!)
Myala learned to fight with sword and shield from a very young age. She has always had a little model hypercube carved from crystal but is not quite sure where it came from. Having a keen interest in learning however, she did everything she could to learn more about this strange item. Her curiosity combined with a natural ability to understand equations and patterns, led her to learning about the arcane. With only limited guidance, she learned a handful of wizard spells. Myala has devoted whatever spare time she could to studying everything she could find about Numeromancy, as she has become quite fascinated. Coming to Strixhaven and joining the Quandrix college would be a dream come true for her. She also hopes it will lead her to learning to be an Eldritch Knight down the road.
I will also say, as I noticed the other submission is Quandrix also, that I am more than willing to propose a different college. If the DM is willing of course to consider another character from the same person.
Hi, I'm a poet by trade and would really enjoy playing Dnd by post.
Nhap Shaka-Grassspear - a dreamy Druidic Satyr, skilled in the art of land and lingo, seeking to refine their craft as a Silverquill student at Strixhaven.
A to-be Circle of Dreams, Knap weaves together druidcraft and thaumaturgy to grant his words, gestures and environment extra-sensory and emphatic poetic finesse.
"Beyond the eyelid’s flickering light, strange how you teeter. Marsh frogs in their homes shake the shallow waters of these hours. Their song across space naked spills through an opened window."
Gus grew up realizing that everything had a story to tell, the living, the dead, and the places and things they interacted with. He wants to find their stories and secrets to find their rich history.
Name: Sabrina Ravencroft Race: Half-elf Class: Warlock (Archfey) Background: Witherbloom initiate Backstory: The daughter of the ancient night hag Grymelda Ravencroft, ruler of the demi-plane of dread Darkenwald, and an unknown elven prince, young Sabrina was brought up in solitude, her only real but brief company, the occasional young handsome unwitting man her mother had lured there to consume to prolong her evil existance. It was only recently that Sabrina realized to her dismay her fate was to be the same as all of those young men. Not content with such bleak prospects she swiftly left the demi-plane of Darkenwald together with enough of her mothers treasures to enter the prestigious univeristy of Strixhaven where she hopes to find a new life, with real friends, far away from her cruel mother.
Nathan Coalborn mage working towards necromancer. Quandrix student (metamancer) ambition is to become Dean of Theory and beyond...
Nathan’s parents were both from shipping and lumber merchant families very influential, but Nathan is not the eldest and is trying to forge his own way.
Nathan is determined nothing will stop him from achieving his goals.
I couldn’t afford the materials for a pair of legs so I don’t have any, but I will make brews in order to make some money. I use to be a dwarf so I know how to make a good brew
"Loreholds are diligent researchers and daring adventurers. Passionate scholars obsessed with history, exploring the past by poring over archaeological artifacts and summoning long-dead spirits. For some students, the past is a rich tapestry worthy of disciplined study."
Darby is definately the black sheep of her family of weaponsmith's as a tinkerer of another kind. They are wholely consumed by the pursuit of knowledge, discovering artefacts, and adventuring to any/everywhere that might hold such treasures. Known to be a tad reckless Darby has a keen sense of self, a hearty sense of humor, and a need to prove to their family that weapons aren't the only way a dwarf can make a livihood that evokes prestegie and honor!
Prized possession: A dented brass compass with a red needle
Class: Rogue (Arcane Trickster seems too on the nose for a magic school and there'll be plenty of magic. I am thinking SoulKnife or maybe Phantom, depending)
Background: Prismari
Basic Backstory: Fianna got shoved / drafted/ shanghaied / sentenced to Strixhaven much to her chagrin. She wasn't one of those magical kids! Sure, ok, sometimes she could do a couple little of tricks but to be accepted into Strixhaven?? Sure, shooting Fire or Frost from her hands is... neat. As is being able to detect magic when others can't and tell what it is... And the familiar that hangs around her is really cool. But the most artistic thing about Fianna is... Well her diplomatic answer would be her skill playing the flute. Her scowly answer would be knife fighting... Truth is, she's been known to make stealing an art! She sees it, she wants it, she gots it... Still, this school thing could be interesting. Maybe she could learn a couple other neat tricks to help her get out of trouble on the rare occasion her true art lets her down...
Understood! Let's see if I can't come up with something and throw my hat in the ring then.
Name: Vokurith "Coldglare: Wildos
Race: Dragonborn (Blue)
Class: Fighter (The only one I really have an idea of how to play combat wise, and has Eldritch Knight as a subclass. Sounds about right for a magic school.)
Backstory: Vokurith was always a curious sort. Even as a child, when he'd find himself training in the yard at the behest of his elders, he'd find himself distracted by questions. Who had made the weapon he wielded? What was it made of? Who made it, and how had they shaped it and why? Questions such as these that left him with a stern look on his face as he pondered life and it's complications. Hence... "Coldglare." He was much more interested in pondering the world around him than spending his life on a battlefield anyhow.
So when the chance came to learn more about his world and himself; to go to Strixhaven... How could he resist? Sure, he didn't know much about Magic, or how to perform any at all in fact. But why let little details like that stop him? And hey, if this doesn't work out... maybe that scowl of his will help him look scary on the battlefield?
Totally Down to change things about the character if it might make for a more interesting story, or well balanced party etc. Good luck to everyone, looking forward to seeing it play out.
Poinsettia has dreamed of using necromancy to heal for years. It's become her obsession and she's spent her inheritance on training to become a witherbloom student. She usually carries herself with an erect posture and a chipper attitude. She enthusiastically chirps her speech in an upperclass accent with a beaming smile. She follows the latest fashion, in Poinsettia Red if possible, but Rocks the school uniform too.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?

Will the Sourcebook on DnD Beyond itself be strictly a required purchase to be eligible to join this Campaign?
High Hopes, Low Rolls. Timezone Is EST.
Surely THIS one will reach an ending...
No. It will help as a nice reference for things but it isn't strictly necessary.

I appreciate the applicants thus far. Will keep this open for a couple more days at most. Lots of Witherbloom wannabes! :D
