Due to a drop, I'm looking for one player to join the ongoing Strixhaven game. We haven't gotten too far so you won't have missed too much! There are a couple of requirements:
Your character needs to plan to eventually join the Silverquill college. They are masters of words both spoken and written. They make great journalists (among many other things)!
We could use a melee oriented person, tanky is good. But certainly not required. We have a druid, rogue, artificer and sorcerer already.
Standard Array or Point buy for stats
Standard races please (i.e. no spelljammer creatures) but if you aren't sure just ask
Milestone leveling, standard starting equipment is fine.
If you want to know anything else just ask. I would like to find someone sooner rather than later, classes are about to begin! Thank you!
Backstory (I’m fine changing it to fit the campaign better, this is just my initial idea): Oguum, or Og, is from a tribe of half-orcs living in the wilderness. Og grew up learning to fight, but never enjoyed it as much as others. One night, a traveling bard stayed with the tribe. Using his pan flute, he told stories like Og had never heard before. This traveler left the pan flute with Og, seeing how enraptured he was by the tales that he told. From that point forward Og secretly desired to write his own tales, though no one in his tribe would have believed him. Accepted into Strixhaven, Og wishes to get into Silverquill college in order to tel others stories like the traveler did.
Name: Davis Race: Variant Human Class: Fighter (with plans to become a Rune Knight) Background: Scholar Alignment: Neutral Good Backstory: Davis hails from a family of scholars who have long been associated with the prestigious Strixhaven Academy. Raised in an environment where the pursuit of knowledge was a way of life, he developed a deep appreciation for the arcane arts and a thirst for understanding the mysteries of the multiverse. Davis's journey led him to enroll as a student at Strixhaven, where he hopes to hone his combat skills as a basic Fighter and embrace the life of a scholar. He eagerly loos forward to attending lectures, participating in magical duels, and explore the vast library's dusty archives, studying ancient tomes and deciphering cryptic runes.
Class: Artificer (perhaps dipping into wizard too)
Background: Inheritor
Description: a lithe black tabaxi, with bright amber eyes and distinctively tattered ears. Wears a broad-rimmed wizard's hat and high-collar robe, both cut from dark velvet and adorned with silver-seamed stars.
Very brief backstory: Tom Hoole once worked as a witch's assistant, but eventually grew tired of the occupation's meager pay and macabre rituals. One night, he packed his things and left, but made the unfortunate error of spitefully purloining his employer's spellbook - which was both marked with a tracking sigil and jinxed, cursing whoever stole it with perpetual bad luck (safe to say, things are not looking good in the resume). On the run and seeking refuge, Tom eventually stumbles across Strixhaven, and decides Silverquill college is the ideal place for a book-enthusiast such as himself to blend in. This way, he might evade his haggish pursuer... at least for a while.
A little about me: I am a musician and part time poet based in Canada, and have been playing 5e for around seven years. I have had experience with PbPs in the past and am ready to both post consistently and engage with the setting material.
Sounds interesting, and kinda fun to build into Silverquill specifically. My submission:
Name: Korba Muriz Race: Half-elf Class: Warlock (hexblade for melee), though will present himself more as a Paladin to the party Background: Silverquill student Quick backstory: Korba was raised in a drow household, though isn’t full drow. There, due to being bullied by the other drow children, learned to be quick with his wits, as well as his fists. Finally though, his mother realized that Korba couldn’t survive in the under dark, and decided to send him to Strixhaven to study. Giving him a sword for his travels. The first time Korba used the sword he had a vision of the raven queen who offered him power in exchange for his help when called upon. Knowing that he needed to be strong enough to return home someday, Korba agreed. First though he needs to study, and then he’ll be ready for whatever comes across his path.
Name: Zemeia, Thirdborn of Vaulcroth (she/her) Race: Tiefling Class: Paladin (Oath of Conquest at 3rd) Background: Silverquill Student (or Noble if Strixhaven Initiate is available in another way at character creation) Quick backstory: Zemeia never wanted the life she had. She lived in opulence: grand palaces, fine clothing, the best tutors anyone could ask for. When your father is the greatest warlord in a millenia, luxury is a normality. As is brutality. Zemeia never fit in with the court of her father and her many siblings. What the warlord Vaulcroth's attendants could not claim with force, they blackmailed, betrayed, and deceived in order to get. Vaulcroth decided he would not leave his kingdom to the first born, but to the strongest and sharpest and brightest of his 17 offspring. So the various consorts and wives fell to trying to give their child the best advantages. Zemeia's mother was ahead of the curve, profaning the child in her womb to carry hellish blood. Zemeia was trained in leadership, warfare, sciences, and magic, but also in civics and the running of an empire. Her mother even secured entrance to Strixhaven, a feat no other child of Vaulcroth had attained. So Zemeia left, glad to be rid of her family and hoping to learn more about the wider multiverse. She plays the part of a good student and devoted daughter well, but her real plan is to master the skills of leadership and inspiration, and bring together a force to vanquish her terrible sire. Whether this alliance includes any of her siblings remains to be seen ...
I'd love to toss my name into the hat. Thank you for your consideration!
Name: Ethaniel
Race: Elf (Either Shadarkai if permitted or High if not)
Class: Wizard (To subclass into bladesinger for melee role)
Background: Charlatan
Backstory/Hooks:
He had harbored a deep desire for years to attend the prestigious Strixhaven Academy, though the reasons behind his previous rejections are a tale best left for another time. Resolute and unyielding, he patiently waited and, two decades later, resubmitted his application under a new identity: Ethaniel, a name that carried an air of respectability. While his recommendation letters may have been of questionable origin, his unwavering determination to succeed shone like pure gold.
"Ethaniel" melds together an eclectic mix of skills acquired during his tumultuous past – a dash of arcane knowledge imparted by elven mentors from his childhood, a touch of swordplay honed during adventurous escapades, and a few counterfeit monikers to evade the long arm of the law during those escapades. However, this chapter of his life was drawing to a close; upon graduating from Strixhaven, he would have authentic credentials to carve an honorable path for himself, even if the name on his diploma wasn't truly his own.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
Backstory: "Down in Yongardy they do things differently.
They respect the Law.
Every day there is a queue outside the courts to get a seat to see the latest up and coming barrister defend their case with a metre of steel. The people follow the careers of their favourite solicitors, watch all their cases, collect their portraits, and sneak into the court after hours to dab the patches of blood on white handkerchiefs.
In Yongardy, they love the Law."
-Troika and its people, 2nd edition
Cesare is an up-and-coming Yongardy lawyer. His brilliant career was tarnished when he lost an important case, so he swore to become the greatest lawyer Yongardi has ever seen and rehabilitate his reputation. To do so, he enrolled into Strixhaven, fitting perfectly in the Silverquill college.
Notes: I take no credit for the excerpt on Yongardi lawyers, it's from Troika Numinous Edition. I'm looking forward to roleplay Cesare!
Description: Sir Cedric stands at 6 feet tall with a well-built and athletic physique. He has short, jet-black hair, piercing blue eyes, and a chiseled jawline. His attire is always impeccable, befitting his noble background, favoring fine silks and polished armor. Despite his weak arcane powers, there's an aura of determination and a scholarly curiosity about him. He carries a leather-bound tome and a quill, which he uses to meticulously record his experiences and observations.
Backstory:
Sir Cedric Stormrider was born into the prestigious Stormrider family, renowned for their mastery of arcane magic. From a young age, it was clear that Cedric was an anomaly among his kin. While his siblings displayed prodigious talent in wielding magic, Cedric struggled even with the simplest of spells. His family was disappointed, and his father, Lord Alaric Stormrider, viewed Cedric as a blemish on the family's legacy.
Determined to prove himself, Cedric accepted his family's decision to send him to Strixhaven. He was determined to master the art and regain the respect of his family.
