Looking for around 5 players to play a dragonlance inspired campaign.
Submission will be ending 21st Nov AEST
Available to share any resources from Dragonlance such as feats and background.
Somewhat new DM, first time creating a pbp or campaign on dndb.
What game what edition will be run (Original, Classic, Revised, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th, etc.)? D&D 5e
What 'type' or variant of game will it be (i.e. "Shadow Chasers" or "Agents of Psi" for d20 Modern)? What is the setting for the game (eg. historic period, published or homebrewed campaign setting, alternate reality, modern world, etc.)? The world of Krynn from Dragonlance
How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many? Around 5
What's the gaming medium (PbP, chat, e-mail etc.)? PbP on this forum.
What is the characters' starting level? Level 1.
How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with? However much they get from background and features.
By what method should Players generate their attributes/ability scores and Hit Points? For ability scores we will be using 4d6 and drop the lowest. Standard array, point buy, or roll on this thread.
Does your game use alignment? Alignment is used.
Do you allow multi-classing, or have any particular rules in regards to it? Yes, rules as per Players Hand Book.
Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game? Roll on here or in game log.
Are there any homebrewed or optional/variant rules that your Players should know about? If so, list and explain them, or provide relevant links to learn about these new rules. No new Homebrew rules or optional rules. If I make a mistake then it's a learning moment for everyone!
Is a character background required? If so, how big? Are you looking for anything in particular (i.e. the backgrounds all ending up with the characters in the same city)? Yes, but no need for War and Peace, a short paragraph will do, showing that the character is not just a set of numbers.
Are your Players restricted to particular rulebooks and supplements, or will you be allowing access to non-standard material? What sources can Players use for their characters? Players Hand book primarily but if you want something else let me know and I'll make a see about it.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask me here or in PMs. Thanks.
Sturma has the spark of the storm in her blood, like her father before her. Tempestuous, she knows the magic of the storm leads to the ruin of those who hold it. Not like those other rare sorcerers, gifted with magic of the planes, or shadows, or fey -- her power does not easily come or allow the building of a dynasty. This was the wisdom her Father taught her before he vanished, and her mother turned to drink. As Sturma grew, and the magic began to come more and more easily, she learned to leverage it to hide and to trick, to con and to steal. At the moment, her needs are simple. Gold, and a way to get it to her younger brothers and sisters. She doesn't target those who don't have much, but she doesn't mind that a fool and his money are soon parted. If they've more than they need, and she has a need, where's the harm in that?
She will find herself in over her head, long before she thinks to look up and check whether the hoard is worth the grift.
"A bright future awaits you," my parents told me when they sent me to the convent. I was still small, I must have been 8-9 years old, and I didn't really understand what they meant. For the next ten years I was to stay there, leaving only once a month to "pay my respects to my family." Life there was not unpleasant. I liked studying, but I hated the lessons given by the tutors. The thought of having to be hunched over books for five days a week (as the other two were devoted one to attending the day of prayer and one for chores to maintain the temple) made me sad and impatient. I then decided to sneak into town. I discovered that the people I had promised to help, along with my brothers and sisters, had been abandoned to their fate. I spent several months sneaking into the city at night to help anyone who asked me for help. Until I was discovered. I remained under close surveillance for another two months before regaining the trust of my guardians. One night I organized my own kidnapping. I left clues pointing to a struggle and left a note saying that I had kidnapped myself. They tried to follow me, but could not. I changed my name to protect my identity and changed my appearance. I remained faithful to my goddess, but I could no longer stand the hypocrisy of my order.
Backstory: Tandri Poggleteggle and her family lived in a boisterous and humdinger of a gnomish community in a dormant volcano call Mount Nevermind. A place where spectacular explosions and new inventions are as common as the seeing a flock of birds. Perhaps it was her rebel phase of life, but the incessant chatter and obsessive passions of her fellow gnomes grated on her nerves. In the wooded lands at the base of the volcano lives her kin the Forest gnomes. Ah how she envied their peaceful lives living in harmony with nature. Well, that is until she lived among them using research as an excuse to be away from her family. It was true that her kin were quieter and more meditative, but she kept on seeing ways to improve her kins life with inventions. She was halfway through changing a wagon to also be a boat in the event of floods when she was kindly asked to stop.
Tandri cannot deny it anymore she was bitten by the tinkerer's bug. Oh, how she loathed admitting that to her folks, but she did and learned much from her mother. Though a quiet workshop was a must for Tandri. Still when she came of age, she left home in search of new inspirations as she heard the Calamity may have unearthed new minerals. Oh, how smug she would be if she came back from such an adventure.
Background: Knight of Solamnia (current created in friends campaign but you mentioned having the background available)
Alignment: Lawfull Good
Backstory: Hrothgar was born into a noble family. His father is a commander in the Griffons Watch, a local group that is tasked to protect the region near the city of Kalaman. Living in the shadow of his father he was raised to follow in his footsteps but in his first big battle Hrothgar was wounded in the leg (lower dex ). Most of all his pride was hurt as he felt he failed in the eyes of his father. Trying to redeem himself he often accompanied members of the Griffons Watch on trips to negiotiate and public relations with nobles to keep their favor and support of the Griffons Watch. As his wound was healing he trained along with the watch to learn their strategies and to work as one. After a while Hrothgar grew restless, eager to prove himself he struggled with his purpose. He could not face another humiliation in front of his father and set out to find his own path, to learn and one day return to the Watch with enough experience to fullfill his expected role.
Basically there are dwarves, elves & humans. There are two different types of elves. There are a few humans, the knights, the plains people & the normal people.
There are three moons, one is a good moon called Solinari (white), a neutral moon called Lunitari (red) and an evil moon called Nuitari. The three moons each represent a good respective to the moon. There are wizards devoted to these moons taking on the robes of the moon to symbolise their alignment. The good, the evil and the neutral to keep the balance.
There are then the knights of solamnia, knight of the rose, knight of the crown and knight of the sword.
There are the two gods Paladine (Or Bahumat) and Takhisis (Or Tiamat)
