This game will be 60% roleplay, 33% exploration, and maybe only 7% combat (it can be higher if you pick your own fights).
It is mainly about a thieves' guild called the Night Ravens and the recent demise of their leader Biscotti.
No homebrew. No guns. (later on, cannons on ships may be allowed, we'll see)
Roll for stats, always reroll 1's. If you don't like your first set of numbers you get a second chance to roll but you MUST use the 2nd roll so be sure you really don't like the 1st roll.
If there are any early deaths or drop-outs I may replenish the party with applicants from here. So if you are not selected don't lose hope as you may be selected in a week, or in a month, etc. etc.

So what is the general vibe you are going for? Getting like Victorian (horror) / Jack the Ripper / Edgar Allan Poe vibes from the picture. Are there any restrictions in terms of race, class, background, or books used?

Name: Smithy Race: Vhuman (feat: Keen mind) Class: Artificer(Infiltrator Armorer) Might do a rogue multiclass Background: Clan crafter? Backstory: Smithy, not his real name of course, just his name in the guild, was one of Biscotti's right hands. He always knew about new heists, new plans as one of the first as Biscotti wanted his opinion on if they were possible. This interest wasn't necessarily for his thieving skills, but mostly because Smithy was the one that crafted the things needed. A little explosive to open a vault, a foldable ladder to get over the walls or just a new guild dagger for the newest members. He was the one that crafted them and was the one the others came to if they needed new gear or gear repaired. but he didn't only work in the workshop, often he went on jobs. His keen mind made sure he didn't forget any part of the plan, he was the one that knew the devices used by heart, and he always had had a neck for knowing what time it was, wherever he was, which were very useful skills. Lately he had also been working on a new kind of armor for himself, to become better at the stealthy part of the jobs. But than Biscotti died, and it came in hard for Smithy. He is now wondering what will become of the guild and how they will continue. Who will be the new leader, what will he or she change, will Smithy still be a confidant to that new leader, he doesn't know. This makes for interesting, but also a bit scarry, times but he is looking forward what will happen after Biscotti has been buried, and looking forward to finish his armor and show the rest of the guild what he, as the crafter, is capable of.

Could we get some more information on the area/city/world the campaign will be in? It'd help to know for the purposes of creating character backgrounds/backstories.
A hulking brute o' a man, Fist is no stranger to crime. His life's been one bloody skirmish to the next. Don't get it twisted, though! He likes it like that. Fightin', boozin', lovin' -- to him, the sore end o' life is the life fer him! An' anyone bruisin' to get in his way'll get what they got comin' to 'em. No two ways 'bout that.
Pirate, mercenary, pugilist, thief -- he's seen it all, a regular who's who on sinnin'. An' ya best hope ya do what yer s'posed to, boyo, lest ye get on his bad side. 'Tis 'nae a side ye wanna see. He may seem a tad slow and a might too wide 'round the middle, but the bruiser's still go' a mean left hook!
Though he's still rather new to the outfit, Fist's job hither to and until Biscotti's unfortunate end was a small-time protection racket -- namely, protection from him. He's not one fer them fancy pancy stealthin' types. If he steals, 'tis after bloodyin' some fool's nose an' knockin' em cold with an uppercut!
Steelclaw's story begins in the sprawling city of Southport, where he was born into a clan of proud and noble Tabaxi warriors. From a young age, Steelclaw showed a natural talent for combat, his movements fluid and graceful, yet deadly.
As he grew, Steelclaw's skills caught the attention of the city's thieves' guild, the Night Ravens. Impressed by his agility and prowess, they offered him a place among their ranks, seeing in him a valuable asset for their operations.
Steelclaw accepted, eager for the thrill of adventure and the chance to test his skills against new foes. Under the guild's tutelage, he honed his abilities, becoming a master of stealth and subterfuge, while never forgetting his roots as a warrior.
When Biscotti, the leader of the Night Ravens, met his demise, Steelclaw was devastated. The loss of his leader and mentor left him adrift, unsure of his place in the guild. But even in his grief, Steelclaw remained dedicated to protecting the Night Ravens, using his skills to ensure the guild's survival in honor of Biscotti's memory.
Starting level will be Level 1 but I use a modified/accelerated advancement scheme due to PbP so we're not waiting a year in real life to advance a level.
The only limits I've put on the game are no homebrew, no guns.
You can be whatever race or class that is from accepted published material. (Basically any and all except for homebrew.)
The name of the city where a large chunk of the game will take place is called Southport. It is the farthest southern port city on the continent and a major trading hub. Fishing, mining, and forestry are it's main staples.

If Fist gets in, his behavior's going to be very bombastic in taverns and around his party. Knowing how mature the story will be let's me control how crazy he'll act.

Are we using the term thieves loosely, or do you mean a rogues' gallery of literal rogues (no fighters, casters, rangers, etc)?
And what's the starting level? If we're members of this guild, are we established thieves at lvl 2 or 3, or are we just the newbies at lvl 1?
First try, let's see...
