There's something I've wanted to try for a while now. I've done it as a DM a couple of times, but I would really, really like to try as a player.
I’ve run something like this as a DM before, but I’d really love to experience it from the player side. I’m curious how badly the game breaks, what still remains dangerous, and whether low-level PCs with absurd equipment can punch way above their weight against monsters they absolutely should not be fighting.
So I’m looking for a DM and some players who would be interested in a chaotic, experimental game built around that premise. This would not be a serious balance-tested campaign. It would be more of a “let’s poke the system with a stick and see what catches fire” kind of game.
Still looking for brave souls willing to help me break D&D.
The experiment: level 1 PCs, legendary magic items, and encounters they have no business surviving.
I’m curious whether absurd gear actually lets low-level characters punch wildly above their weight, or whether things like low HP, weak saves, and action economy still bring them crashing back to earth.
In other words: can Peanut the Dragon Slayer live up to the name, or is this how we discover that legendary items do not protect you from being extremely level 1?
Looking for both players and a DM who enjoy weird system experiments.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?

Fantastic! Looks like we have at least a DM and one player besides myself! I assume boss0tron3000 will take up the mantle of DM. Looking forward to this!

Are we going to do a campaign, or just a couple encounters?
I’d definitely prefer an actual campaign, personally.
That said, I think it could work well if the first arc is basically a stress test: level 1 characters with legendary items, starting with normal threats and escalating into much nastier monsters.
I’d still love RP and story around it rather than just arena fights. Part of the fun is treating the ridiculous premise seriously and seeing how the world reacts to low-level weirdos carrying artifacts of impossible power.
So my vote is: campaign, but with the chaos experiment as the core premise.

In any case, here's the character I have made up: Peanut the Dragon Slayer!
Anyway, I hope someone is down for this absolutely crazy idea!

Don't have time to commit to playing this out, but couldn't resist popping in to drop a very relevant Order of the Stick comic.
I would gladly DM this.
I’d love either dming or playing this!

Thank you so much for getting it up so fast!

I literally don't have anything to do.
How many players would you like to have for this game? It would be awesome if we can get a full four-person party :)

As many as possible, but I could do a one person party if need be.
I think Link already agreed to join us. So we should have a two-player party at bare minimum.
