My GF wants to try DMing. Of the pre-written adventures, I've only run Curse of Strahd before, and wouldn't recommend it for a first-time DM. Which adventures would you all recommend?
Hey, just a quick heads-up — this section of the forum is dedicated to play-by-post games, so questions like this might be better suited for the other section.
That said, since you asked: Lost Mine of Phandelveris definitely the go-to recommendation for new DMs — it’s straightforward, well-structured, and teaches the basics really well. Other good starter options would be:
Dragon of Icespire Peak (Essentials Kit) — very flexible, with quests you can run in any order.
Stormwreck Isle (Starter Set 2022) — short and beginner-friendly.
Candlekeep Mysteries (selecting a short adventure or two) — good if she wants to try out a one-shot rather than a longer campaign.
If she’s comfortable homebrewing a bit, Dragon of Icespire Peak gives a lot of room for that. For a straight beginner experience, Lost Mine is still the gold standard.
