You wake up with a terrible headache to the loud clanking sound of what is apparently a spoon on a pot. "Breakfast! Wakey-wakey, rise and shine, heroes!" Somehow you get the impression that he was being sarcastic... It is a well built half-orc shouting in Common, wearing the green uniform of the Imperial Legion. Or is it the blue uniform of the Imperial Navy? You can't really make it out in the darkness. "Eat before it's all gone. You all look like you are hungry, and believe me, you need the food." Is it your stomach turning, or is it the room? You hear creaking sounds. And what is it with the smell of rotten fish? First you have no idea where you are, then slowly all the memories come back... The Sleeping Galleon Inn in the Port District of Randserport, the drinks, then more drinks, all the people, the promises of fame, women, and fortune... then the recruitment office, and that busty blonde, purring in your ear as you... sign the contract?!
Gods, did you sign up to the Imperial Legion? You look around in the dark room, and try to see who else is there with you.
Introduce yourself, who you are, how you look, and how you got here.

"You might be wondering what a respectable and galliant looking individual such as myself is doing in a filthy place as this. Your mind must be puzzled, your thoughts in awe. Well I will keep it from you no further "
" It is I, Reginald Maximillian Montero De Marchena, 3rd of his name.Protector of men, hero of the common folk, philanderer and debaucher of female innocence, and Heir, to .... Heir to.... Well, Heir to nothing really. Since this is an internal monologue and no one is here to witness my thoughts, I should probably be truthful for once. In truth my story isn't very glamorous. I was born to a peasant mother, who died when I was very young and I never knew my father. I was sent to an orphanage when she died, which I left when I was fast enough to nick a sweetroll from a merchants stall and outrun him on the rare occasions he noticed. I learned to defend for myself, to lie, to cheat and steal. I learned to adapt to my surroundings, be whatever I needed to be. A vicious cutthroat?, a traveling noble? or nobody at all, just a face in the crowd? I could be it all. I learned this rather quickly, and I do it rather well, If I may say so myself. Well, not quite well enough apparently. Not well enough to fool the Imperals I was trying to con at a game of dice. "Your hand, or your signature" they said. It was an easy choice, a man needs his hand. "
Reginald, stands up and places his right clenched fist on his chest and addresses the OrcSpeaks in Orcish "Ashdautas Vrasubatlat"which roughly translates to "Someday I will kill you" a standard Orcish greeting. Continues in Orcish " There seems to have been a terrible miscommunication, my green skinned brother. I am Reginald Maximillian Montero De Marchena, the 3rd of his name. I was sent here by my noble house, to train in the art of combat, and bring honor to my house. I was merely entertaining the recruits, and I seem to have dabbled in the drink a bit to much. Would you be so kind to escort me to your commanding officer so I may take my post by his side. "
Deception 17 (rolled twice in case advantage / disadvantage)
The half-orc snorts out a short chuckle, and replies in Orcish: "I don't think so, but we'll see, soft one." He continues in Common: "You, as well as all the other recruits, will be trained in the art of combat all right. After that, we'll see." He turns to the whole group: "Eat, drink, wash up, and report on deck in half an hour, when you hear the bell. Your you will get your orders, and your basic training begins today. This is a military ship, and you will either earn your keep or swim with the sharks." He softens up a little. Those of you with a Passive Insight over 10 realize that he is quite articulate for a half-orc, and seems surprisingly considerate: "I am Servius Sentius Zhorgok, quartermaster at the Septima Equites - well, I guess that would make me steward here aboard the Alphea. I will either be your best friend, or your worst enemy here. Your drill instructor will be Sextus Avidius Galaeron, commonly known a the Whipper. He will definitely be one of your worst enemies." He starts walking up the stairs, then turns back. "Next time an officer comes in, you will stand at attention, unless you want to be on latrine duty. Dismissed." And he leaves.
Everybody present, roll a History check. Reginald and those who speak Orcish, roll a general Intelligence check as well.
"just, perfect" Reginald whispers sarcastically under his breath. Though not until the orc is long gone and his footsteps no longer echo the room.
Reginald reaches into his side pocket and chumps down on some dried beef jerky, as he skims the room. He observes his new found brothers in arms, being the perceptive man that he is. He tries to see who seems strongest, the weakest, the most impressionable. But mostly he just observes them and their actions.
The dwarf half mumbles half yells "Shaddup wit yer noises there laddy, some of us be trying ta sleep here!" And grumbles to himself as he rolls back over to sleep with a pounding headache
Reginald, you don't know too much about military history, but you know that "Equites" means cavalry in Imperial, although these days many cavalry legions mostly function as infantry. You also realize that the half-orc probably hasn't used Orcish in a while. As you observe the gently rolling room, the first thing that hits you is the smell: rotten fish, sweat, and puke. As your eyes get adjusted to the darkness, you see that you are in a room that could easily fit a hundred people, but there are only about 30-40, slowly getting up from their straw beds. About half of them are humans, and you can also make out a couple of half-orcs, half-elves or elves, halflings, even someone who must be a tiefling, as well as that grumpy dwarf. Some of them look like they had a rough night, while others seem more relaxed. You figure that these must be the ones who didn't need any convincing to sign up, but registered on their own.
As you look in the direction of the aforementioned dwarf, who still seems to be sleeping, from the corner of your eye you see a nimble halfling tiptoe up to him. He notices that you are watching him, sushes you and winks at you as he reaches for the dwarf's purse.
Hurtrun, roll a Perception check with disadvantage, as you are asleep. Reginald, do you do anything?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Reginald is quite conflicted. " On one hand, the dwarf looks like he would make a great ally. Lord knows, I will need a strong one like that to hide behind. On the other hand, Im no rat"
I walk towards the half-ling and speak " I admire your courage half-man, but this is not the time to make enemies, the drunkard will start ripping everyone of us in shreds until he finds out which one of us stole from him. Look at the floorboards under that thing. I dont know whats more impressive, that he hasnt broke through to the hold of the ship or that we arent sinking " "Now be a good lad, and hand it over, I will make sure it finds its way back to his pockets"
Persuasion 21 , 12 (go by first roll if no disadvantage / advantage )
The halfling puts the pouch back , this time under the dwarf, and whispers to Reginald: "You do make some sense, but don't take me for a fool. No way in hell am I handing it over to you. If you want that pouch, take it yourself." Then he walks back towards his straw bed, sits down and starts to eat while watching the dwarf and Reginald attentively.
Reginald, make a Perception check!
One of the humans, a muscular, well-built man with shoulder-long blond hair and broad shoulders realizes that the dwarf is still asleep, walks up to him and tries to wake him up: "Hey Sleepy, time to wake up! We all need to be on deck in a few minutes, otherwise we will be licking the latrine clean for dinner every night for the rest of the trip." If Hurtrun doesn't wake up, he will shake him. If he still doesn't wake up, he will shake him harder until he does. He is aware that the dwarf might try to attack him if he wakes up, so he will go first.
Reginald, will be suspicious of the mans intentions, having no faith in acts of human kindness and sacrifice, "I will circle around the dwarf if needed and keep my eye's on the pouch"

Do you want us to roll twice always if we do something that might change the scenario? so incase you want to make it a disadvantage or advantage depending on our actions?
(This is gonna be all in one colour cause I’m on my phone)

"well ... That would be me"
A tall and bulky half elf stands up from the corner.
"I might not exactly be as you remember... we were pretty hammered... but i clearly remember a moment when we were playing 'What was for lunch' in your beard."
I then turn a warm smile toward Reginald.
"you did well talking to that gnome. I dont know how long we ll stay in here but one thing us for sure, it would have been even less comfortable with the wall and floor covered in Gnome's blood."
I then throw a stone cold stare at the Gnome. Intimidation 9
The human, confused, looks at the half-elf, and then answers Hurthrun: "My name is Frord Hrothtagg, my dwarven friend. I was a slave, but now I am a free man, and I joined the Legion because I want to become a citizen of the Empire when my tour ends. What brings you here? We should get ready and report on deck."
Reginald does not see anything, but the next time Hurthrun checks his pouch he will realize that he he has a (very small) handful of gold coins fewer than he remembers, he must have spent even more last night than he remembers.
The halfling that tried to steal from Hurthrun he quickly gets up, and as his straw bed is closest to the door, darts up the stairs.
