Your every step echoes loudly as you tread on a rugged granite floor. Your head, like a bell underwater, rings with a muffled resonance. Lead by frail candle light through the turns and twists of a narrow path in the bowels of the earth, as if reeled in by a powerful desire that doesn't belong to you. The darkness around you gradually thickens and spreads, eventually making it's way into your nostrils and your mouth, filling your lungs and stomach. Reflexively trying to cough and vomit, your mind quickly races with claustrophobic terror. Shaking with spasms, scratching furiously your throat, panic is soon replaced by exhaustion and unnervingly quiet resignation. As your consciousness slowly fades, you can hear a deep and twisted voice whispering to your soul, it's language unknown to you. You soon become unable to differentiate this voice from your own thoughts.
A sudden and intense pain on your side frees you from the grip of death. Your whole mind is submerged by a wave of unbearable ache. As the pain slowly subside, reality progressively worms it's way into your skull. Opening you eyes, you recognize the cage you have been put in, like a rabid animal. In front of you, a towering figure looks at your plight with glee. Holding the blunt edge of the spear he just smashed into your kidney, he quickly goes back to his duties with satisfaction for his deed. As you move further inside, you get a glance at all your fellow prisoners, in rags, sleeping on the hard floor reeking of urine and feces. Touching your restraints, memories of who you are and what brought you here comes back as a strenuous stream of thoughts.
Continue by introducing your character and their reasons for being captive of the drow in the Underdark.
Z'ress Calathizan is or was a promising young priestess of Loth until her family lost the favor of the Spider Queen due to the actions of her brother Farthian. He was found out as a worshipper of Vhauraun and after he fled her mother had failed to capture and sacrifice him for such sacrilege. After the attack on her house, Z'ress had run and fled into the Underdark only to be captured by the other drow that now hold her hostage.
With little else to do and without the power to call upon the Spider Queen, Z'ress keeps to herself. She seems to be unsure and a lot less threatening then a drow noble normally would be. When she had been captured, her equipment was in disrepair but easy recognized as fine drow make, her fancy clothing now nothing more then rags that covered her modesty.
If one could hazard a guess she was only old enough to have possibly just entered the school of priestesses as she looked young even for someone of elven heritage.
Ree'lyn, of House Arken'ar, from the drow city of Ched Nasad, was born in the same day the city was razed.
The merchant noble House was nearly destroyed in the events that led to that catastrophe. In a dire move to being chaos and pulverise their enemies, the Matron Mother of House Arken'ar had her pregnancy turned into a focus of arcane powers into a conjuration ritual at the time the perpetrators and thralls of the city's doom worked on their goal. A demon would be used to increase the chaos triggered in the city.
Unbeknownst to the Matron Mother, and the other members of the House, the sixth child of the House and third son of the matron would be used by the demon as a vessel and sacrifice. Not even his father, the House Wizard, although suspicious of something would be able to stop it in time.
Tricking the demon, the priestesses and arcanists of the House, a powerful entity meddled with the ritual in a very peculiar manner, causing the failure of the intended goal and a breach which allowed another House to bind the demon for themselves. Another agenda would be fulfilled through Ree'lyn in the form of a pact.
He grew as a scout and scavenger with his own group around what was left of Ched Nasad to help rebuild his House, which was not wiped out because most of their structure was built into a side cave wall, allowing them to survive, albeit much weaker, and having to manage recruiting new soldiers to replace the ones that died, fled or died trying to flee.
Knowing the real power behind Ched Nasad's authorities, House Arken'ar always kept a low profile, while keeping close to them and making contacts to strengthen their position and network. One of them is a female drow agent, close to him since his childhood.
That endeavour led Ree'lyn to grow up with his own plans to thrive with his House. Under the tutelage of his father, the House Wizard and his only real sister among his two male and three female siblings. Searching for new places and trading contacts under his control to build power are part of his motivation to leave the city.
The other part has to do with episodes of what he would think of as hallucinations, seeing and sensing flora and fauna never before seen in the Underdark. Verdant, shinny and cacophonous like he had never known in his life.
That is the place he wants to find, and the seductive voice and presence that accompanies him some times he wants to meet.
Except his travels took him to unknown places of the Underdark following in an unfortunate caravan, which came across other Drow that care nothing for his noble origins in Ched Nasad or the consequences of their insolence.
She only goes by one name, Shava. She claims no House, and none claim her. She did not or would not follow the path of priestess nor the path of mage. Her fighting skills apparent at a young age, but it was her demeanor, her keen perception, her focus that caught their attention. She was taught a different kind of combat, how to perfect the body, how to use the darkness in a way even Drow did not suspect. In a world that treats secrets like currency, they are unknown to all but a few. Do they serve Lolth? The Matrons cannot say. She is here for a reason. She does not know why, only that it was required. A part of her trials and her purpose combined. She will know soon when the time is right.
Razak a kobold scavenger was separated from his tribe one day while they traveled through the underdark. Alone and hungry he came upon a very sparkling shiny. He went to investigate it and found it to be a strange book. It had strange symbols and when he picked it up to open it. He began to hear something speak to him it in a very ancient language. Unable to understand, the entity forced it's way into Razak's head. Causing great pain but it have given him a great understanding of magic! He began traveling the underdark in search of more artifacts but his pursuit was cut short when some drows out numbered him. A coward in nature he gave up and was knocked unconscious. Know waking up with big folk maybe he can use them to get himself out of this place and become the greatest kobold to ever live!
(Awesome! Also this seems you be a party of renegade drow. So I know I was thinking about having Z'ress as an Oath breaker paladin due to losing her connection with Lolth and wanted to know if that was ok?)

Warren grew up scrounging in the dark for food. He was constantly on the lookout for anything that could help him and his family survive. That ended when one of the many dangers in the Underdark attacked their village, slaughtering people left and right. Warren, watching in horror, could do nothing to protect his family, knowing they would all die, until a voice whispered in his ear. “If you want to protect them, I can give you power. Just say yes, and serve me, and you can save your family.” Of course he said yes. He’d do anything for them. When he said yes, he felt something by his hand. A weapon. One he hadn’t noticed before. As he picked it up, he was filled with power that he’d never felt, and using these powers he barely knew how to use, managed to scare off the horror from the village. But it was too late. His parents were slaughtered, and his daughter...
Warren was haunted by this, and by the voice that was always in his head now, telling him what he needed to do. Warren wanted this voice gone, and set off to find some way to get rid of it, where he was captured and put in a cage with drow of all people, most likely simply because he was a gnome.
Niaviida had been alone as far as she could remember, she did whatever she could to survive. She would fight tooth and nail to survive, using whatever she could to her own advantage. Over the years she became quite skilled in sneaking and using things to her advantage, although she still had much to learn. The only hint as to why she had been abandoned at such a young age is the words of others who had met her. Half-elf. With only those words and the tiniest memory of a woman's look of disdain and hatred, Niaviida wondered what was so bad about being a half-elf.
Even now, despite attacking a drow out of fear and having her hiding spot found, Naiviida is confused. Surely they could not blame her for lashing out when strangers suddenly find her home?
Darhan liked to explore and learn as much as he could, hes learned vast amounts of elf and dwarf history. But while searching for some old history of the Drow they thought he was searching for weaknesses for the elves and well know hes here sitting in a drows cell bored out of his mind. He just sits in the cell bored and relaxing, after the guard comes and attacks him he just yells "Hey dickhead, you gonna let me out. I'm sure you've looked through my notes by now, could you let me out by now ya pricks." He says then leans back and goes back to relaxing
Talike has survived in the wilderness with limited contact with civilization for as long as she can remember. For the last 30 years, she has lived with a small nomadic tribe, and developed a strong attunement with the natural world at a young age. However, even with this familiarity to the wild, it took forty years for Talike to notice the other occupant of her wilderness: the drow. Talike's first contact with the drow was after a particularly nasty fight with a brown bear. Just as she had finished skinning the beast, a piercing scream caught Talike's attention. When she reached the source of the scream, Talike found only a trail of blood leading to a cave. One of her tribemembers had been taken. The very next day, a member of Talike's family reported seeing three dark forms moving through the forest. A week later, another tribemember was taken. While she was used to members of her tribe being killed in hunting accidents, Talike was entirely unfamiliar with the idea of kidanpping. Because of her recklessness and disregard of the apparent danger, Talike became the third member of her tribe to be kidnapped by the drow. She has been a prisoner for only one day, but Talike has not taken well to her new environment. If Talike is presented with a chance to escape from the drow, she will take it.

Amnesty Snafu is a normally quiet tiefling. She prefers to dabble in the arcane but refuses to follow any gods until she determines which bestowed her arcane gifts. Her short temper is what got her into this mess in the first place. Her typically peaceful demeanor is quick to change when she feels threatened, especially when it comes to her precious familiar Ember. She often unintentionally takes charge and resorts to any means necessary to get what she wants. She is secretive about her past and where she came from. When the drows found her trying to sneak into their den to follow after Ember, they were quick to capture her. She spent a while lashing out and struggling against her bonds, having bamfed Ember into her pocket realm. Now she silently fumes as she glares at the drow in front of her, trying to determine the material of her bonds (metal, hemp, etc?).
Gwedoline Gearbright is a researcher and inventor. When she is not studying and reading books she is either in the lab tinkering or out exploring the worlds many wonders.
She finds herself now in an underdark cell all because her thirst for knowledge and her inherent wonder led her a bit too far. Of course she hadn’t thought that far along. She just was too curious about the underdark she heard is much about. She wanted to know more about the drow and Duergar that adventurers speak of. She wanted to know everything about them. How did they see, what could they see? What did they eat? Were they as ill intented as people made them out to be? How advanced were their societies?
She started by taking samples of earth near their tunnels but got too excited... a little deeper, a little further... until she startled one with one of her inventions now she is locked up without any good way to see. She just listens now. As she takes mental notes of the things she hears around her awaiting her fate.
Lysair Endemnos is one of those unfortunate Tieflings who let his lineage define him. As a child, scorned for the circumstances of his birth, he turned to them for comfort, and eventually they embraced him. This bond, a pact made between master and apprentice, drove Lysair to the greatest bodies of knowledge in Faerun, where he strove to learn all he could to empower himself, whilst carrying out the deeds his master requested of him with little compunction. Now, Lysair's master saw fit to reward him, whispering the secrets of powerful artifacts and arcane secrets in the depths of the Underdark. It was in making the expedition down that Lysair ran afoul of the servants of Lolth, and was unable to evade capture.
