I have been running a LMOP campaign for some friends who are new to D&D and/or 5e. Out of the 5 original players, I'm down to two. I need to breathe some new life into this campaign.
If you wish to join, you will NOT be creating characters. You will be taking over existing ones:
My two remaining players (A forest gnome Circle of the Moon Druid and an Elf Wizard (School of Divination)) are novices and are progressing well with the mechanical parts of D&D, but they are not really giving their characters any personality. They interact with the DM and not the NPC's, ie: "I want to ask this guy to give me directions to such and such a place."
I am open to taking on some experienced players who have played LMOP before, as long as you/they take a backseat when it comes to make decisions on where to go and what to do. (Just go with it.)
I am also OK taking on more novices. The catch is the module is almost half-way done. If you're OK with that, then feel free to apply.
Recruiting is OPEN until I have had the time to write up a summary of the module thus far, so you can step into the shoes of these characters and at least know a bit of the history. I will also give you what little background the characters have/had.
Because these have all been RL friends prior to this recruiting drive, I have been interacting and providing maps via email. Oh yeah, I run with maps, btw. I will give whoever I choose to join access to Roll20 (all free) so you can visualize maps during battles on your own time. You won't be getting emails, as you are strangers and I'm not going to ask for your personal emails to be able to play. You will not be moving your tokens in Roll20, rolling any dice there, or otherwise interacting with Roll20. Just use Roll20 to see a map and give me instructions, ie: Move from A1 to C3 and attack enemy at D4, etc... I expect whoever joins to try to post within 1 day (24 hours) if it is your turn.
If you are experienced and want to join, then I want someone who can breathe some life into the characters with some role playing. Hopefully with some examples, my two beginners will catch on and follow your lead.
Hopefully once this module is done, everyone willing, I will just launch into another.
I guess I can throw my hat into the ring. I would like to give this a shot. I have played the lost mine before but did not finish it, game fell apart. I have a fair understanding of 5th edition. I have been role playing for many years. My spelling is not the best, nor my use of my native language, which I am attempting to use here. I am willing to play any of the three characters offered. I have a roll 20 account.
I will be willing to play any of them.. id prefer the rouge but im up for whatever. Ive DM'd LMoP for my group already but promise not to ruin it.. i can help your hew players though. I already have a R20 account as I DM ToA on there.
Not sure if this is still open or not but I'd be interested. Particularly in the fighter or rogue but could do any as well. I've played for close to 15 years both IRL and on PbP settings.
Below in the spoiler tag is the campaign summary. If you have not played through the Lost Mines of Phandelver (LMOP) module yet, this is a massive SPOILER. You have been warned.
A dwarf by the name of Gundren Rockseeker hired a team consisting of Leek, Kitryn, Katerielle, Rindelk and Eren to escort a wagon load of mining supplies to a small village called Phandalin. Gundren left with a warrior friend ahead of the party to deal with business in the village.
The team traveled down the High Road for several days in peace and then turned east onto the Triboar Trail. Another half a day along the Triboar Trail, they rounded a corner and encountered an ambush site with a couple of dead horses on the road. Inspecting, the team found and battled four hidden goblins waiting to trigger another ambush. Once the goblins were defeated, the party inspected the dead horses and deduced that Gundren and his warrior escort were captured.
Searching the surrounding brush, the party found plenty of goblin tracks to follow and followed them in search of their employer. They eventually ended up at a cave that the goblin occupants called 'Cragmaw Hideout'. Cleaning out the caves, the party found Gundren's warrior friend, Sildar Hallwinter who told them they were ambushed. Gundren was taken to a place called 'Cragmaw Castle' and his precious map was confiscated. The location of 'Cragmaw Castle' is unknown and the party fails to find tracks, so they return to their wagon and finish escorting it to Phandalin.
In the village, the party completed their job of wagon escort. Sildar was adamant that the party stay together and find Grunden. However Eren took several beatings fighting the goblins at the ambush and 'Cragmaw Hidout' and decided adventuring life wasn't for him.
While at the local Inn, the remaining party listened to the gossip. The mayor wanted some orcs at Wyvern Tor dealt with. Sister Garaele was looking to hire people to seek out a banshee by the name of Agatha to answer a question about a lost spell book. News of undead at Old Owl Well needs investigation. Sildar Hallwinter was on his way to Phandalin to investigate the disappearance of a colleage of his, Iarno. But the most pressing issue for the people of Phandalin are the Redbrand Ruffians, who are terrorizing the village.
The party members decide that the village can deal with their own issues and finding Grunden as fast as possible was more important. However, the Redbrands had a bone to pick with the party and provoked a fight outside of the inn. At this time, Elila, a Goliath with a grievance with the Redbrands, busts out of the Inn and joins the party in battle with the Ruffians.
Once the Ruffians dealt with, a minor altercation with the town mayor that is anxious of the repercussions of the battle with the ruffians occurs. Then the party seeks out Halia Thornton who they hear may have knowledge about someone who could know where 'Cragmaw Castle' is found. (NOTE! If you are familiar with LMOP, I screwed up and mixed up Halia Thornton and Qelline Alterleaf. I just ran with it.) Halia says she knows a druid by the name of Reidoth who would be the best person to ask about the location of Cragmaw Castle, BUT wants the Redbrands dealt with. She offers a reward plus information about Reidoth if they can cut the head of the Redbrands by killing or capturing an individual by the name of 'Glasstaff' and bringing his papers and belongings to her. The party reluctantly agrees to deal with the Redbrands before they can get about their business of saving Gundren.
Halia points the party to an abandoned estate as the real base of operations of the Redbrands and the party openly assaults it. There they discovered some slaves, prior members of the village, as well as a corpse of one of the village members that had tried to stand up to the Redbrands. They made an unlikely ally of a goblin by the name of Droop and they eventually killed Glasstaff after briefly questioning him. Digging into Glasstaff's papers, they discovered orders from named 'The Black Spider' to capture a dwarf fitting Gundren's description and especially obtaining his map. There were also orders to harass and scare off any adventurers that showed up in Phandalin.
Task completed, they returned to Halia for their reward. Halia told them that Reidoth left Phandalin some time ago to head to the ruined town of "Thundertree". The party also informed Sildar that Glasstaff was in fact Iarno. Sildar was dismayed at the betrayal, and beseeched the party to find Gundren and discover who 'The Black Spider' was.
The party travelled to Thundertree, defeating an Ogre on the way. Once at Tundertree, they discovered signs warning people to leave due to several dangers. They ignored the signs and made their way into the ruined town, where they were attacked by sentient humanlike vine creatures. The party proved to be lucky and found Reidoth quickly, avoiding most of the other dangers. Reidoth was less than pleased that the adventurers ignored his warnings and the party didn't find him very welcoming. Once they obtained directions to Cragmaw Castle from Reidoth, they were more than happy to leave him with his problems in Thundertree and hurry to make their way to Cragmaw Castle.
The party chose to time their arrival at Cragmaw Castle so it would be mid-day. Upon seeing the structure, Leek decided to transform into a giant spider and create a web-ladder for the rest of the party to climb up, so they could assault from the top. Once up there, they discovered a sleeping Owlbear imprisoned below as well as seeing a chest that would be near impossible to find from below. Worried about the owlbear raising an alarm, the druid Leek is contemplating trying to offer it food to keep it calm and quiet.
That is where the party currently finds themselves.
I will update later with brief backstories for the three characters available to choose from.
Elila: Outlander Background with the following character traits:
Personality Traits
I feel far more comfortable around animals than people. I once ran twenty-five miles without stopping to warn to my clan of an approaching orc horde. I’d do it again if I had to.
Ideals
Change. Life is like the seasons, in constant change, and we must change with it. (Chaotic)
Bonds
An injury to the unspoiled wilderness of my home is an injury to me.
Flaws
There’s no room for caution in a life lived to the fullest.
Backstory: Elila happened to be wandering through Phandalin in her journey and was ambushed by Redbrands, where she was easily overpowered, stripped of her gear and equipment and would probably have been raped and worse if a caravan hadn't spooked the Redbrands at the last minute. Furious at herself for being surprised, overpowered and robbed, she left to re-equip herself before showing up in Phandalin yet again, with a grievance. After her first night in the local Inn, she saw a party of adventurers get attacked by Redbrands and was more than happy to help them out.
I might fail, but I will never give up. I love a good puzzle or mystery.
Ideals
Danger. With every great discovery comes grave danger. The two walk hand in hand. (Any)
Bonds
I won’t sell an art object or other treasure that has historical significance or is one of a kind.
Flaws
I can’t leave a room without searching it for secret doors.
Katerielle was hired by Gundren to escort the wagon to Phandalin, but was told there would be a more relevant job afterwards pertaining to her interests. She has been filling the role of healer mostly in the party. Otherwise she's well versed in history and is part of the adventuring party because Gundren piqued her curiosity with his offer.
I was, in fact, raised by wolves. I feel far more comfortable around animals than people
Ideals
Change. Life is like the seasons, in constant change, and we must change with it. (Chaotic)
Bonds
I am the last of my tribe, and it is up to me to ensure their names enter legend.
Flaws
Don’t expect me to save those who can’t save themselves. It is nature’s way that the strong thrive and the weak perish.
Kitryn was in fact raised by wolves for a short period, after which she was raised by her tribe. She is an introvert that wants to socialize, but can only endure so much. She'll enter cities to look for jobs and get her fill of people before heading back out into the wilderness to do her work. She sticks with the party because it's a job that continues to pay well and the small group is more tolerable to be around than heading back into a city.
Thanks for the info. I assume I am added to the campaign since I can see/read it. (im reading up on the dice mechanic now) I typically do PBP games on TavernKeeper so im just converting over. Does DND Beyond have a character transfer mechanic or Do i need to recreate the same character on my list?
I haven't added anyone yet. I created links to view the character pages, which anyone can do.
The character sheets are still linked to their creators, and that is what is holding me up. If I can't get them to release their sheets in a timely manner, then I will just re-create them in the campaign and deassign the current ones.
Still working on getting Elila and Katerielle unassigned, but in the meantime I will simply choose the first three to apply. Mirilis and Giasrhen don't have a lot of posting history, so LMOP will be a good introduction for them. Wysperra is more experienced and will hopefully provide a good example to the other players.
Mirilis gets Kitryn Shroud
Giasrhen gets Katerielle
Wysperra gets Elila
I will PM the three of you the campaign link. In the campaign homepage, you will find the link for Roll20. Kitryn is available to claim right away. I'm working on the other two.
I will keep the other applicants in mind if things don't work out.

Sure, I'll jump in. I'll take whoever you decide to give me. I've been playing since forever but took time off during the 3.5-4 era.
How do we follow the game? Never used roll20 before. Where are the posts for the game?

I'm a fan of arcane trickster but if I get her can I swap one of her cantrips for mage hand
Arcane Tricksters get mage hand automatically.
Liarin: Against the Cult of the Reptile God
Adewild: Shadows and Light 2
Brother Thaddeus: Rime of the Frostmaiden.
I realize..they get 3.. Mage hand and 2 of thier choice.. im just saying that the rogue sheet has 3 cantrips and none of them are magehand
Not even sure why the website allowed that, but it's fixed now.
