An ancient tome has been discovered in the vaults of House Kundarak, the property of the deceased Thurm Deepcandle, an eccentric gnome scholar. The book contains the location of a lost dwarven library buried in the Frostfell. Before his untimely death, Thurm was in the process of assembling an expedition to the Frostfell in search of the legendary library. His daughter, determined to continue her late father’s legacy, has picked up where he left off. Leading a company of scholars and adventurers, Thora Deepcandle ventures into the frozen north.
Welcome, adventurer! You are a member of the Frostfell expedition, whether as a bodyguard, scholar, or treasure hunter. Characters will begin at 3rd level, standard array or point buy ability scores, no UA or homebrew, milestone level advancement, dragonmarks and Eberron content encouraged.

Name Race (Subrace)/Class (Subclass) Home Nation Backstory (Including a reason for accompanying the expedition)
I will leave this thread up for a day or two, and then select 4-6 character applications to participate in the campaign.
Brocc is from Trolanport in Zilargo. He is a crafter and warrior, crafting armor, weapons, and other such items, both for himself and for others. His family is one of the primary crafters of such items in the capital city. He uses a mastiff-sized feline construct as a mount, wielding a lance from the constructs back. Unknown to others, Brocc is also an Agent of the Trust. They have asked him to accompany Thora on this journey, to be their eyes and ears on the ground as it were. The Trust managed to get Brocc onto the team with their influence. He is working as an expert in the crafting of armor and weapons, as well as working as a body guard and warrior.
G'nar Torrn that works for House Tharashk. He has a strong connection to his house, wanting to prove its value and expand its prosperity. His personnel contribution has been to expand the business into the Frostfells, one of the most remote and dangerous locations, but one that offers great reward to those willing to risk it.
G'nar would be contacted to serve as a guide, someone who has become familiar enough to the dangers of the Frostfells that he could guide people through or around them. He has also gotten used to the long nights of winter and is adept at dealing with creatures that prefer to hunt in the dark. Joining the expedition and helping it succeed will reflect positively on G'nar and the House.
Charleton only just recently retired from being a lawman and investigator
His hopes for a normal life there in town were minimal due to the local guilds so he decided to look for a life of adventure he was soon hired by Thora Deepcandle to help as a body guard and investigator.
Background: Dwal Fiercehammer seems like the normal Hill Dwarf, working as an assistant in the local smith and he frequents local bars. But, what few know, mostly the bar going crowd, he is known as "The Hammer" a hometown fighter in the end of the week bare knuckle fighting circuit. Dwal has a few passions. Fighting, Smithing and and all things dwarven. When he heard Deepcandle was looking for a few people to find a long lost dwarven library Dwal promptly signed up. Dwal works as a smith, repairing item and helping construct items needed during the expedition and as one of the guards.
Magic: Dwal has discovered his bloodline traces back to an great great great gandmother who is rumored to have had an affair with a Dragon. The rumor proved true when Dwal's magic surfaced. Dwal shaped some of his magic to compliment his fighting style.
Race (Subrace)/Class (Subclass) Halfling (Lightfoot)/ Sorcerer (Wild Magic) Home Nation Talenta Plains Backstory: Typical story of a wild mage - Livly was on a great mission to tame her magic. over Serious scholars assured her the task is impossible (that is when they paid any attention to an annoying little wildling) but Livly was not going to give up! She heard about expedition to Frostfell, and made her life goal (for the time required to do so) to convince Thora Deepcandle that she, Livly, is an essential and absolutely necessary part of the expedition - after all, was not Lord Boroman ir’Dayne a halfling? And the only living being who was there and returned?
Zenos was raised among raiders who utilized the dinosaurs of their home plains to carry out their strikes on caravans crossing the plains. A veteran fire ghetto skilled in combat and magic, he was sent to negotiate a truce with two bandit groups who seemed more neutral than aggressive towards them. Upon arrival, he walked straight into an ambush, and his magic is the only reason he lived that day. Upon his return, he found his tribe slaughtered, down to the frailest elder, and the youngest child. He swore vengeance, and became a sell sword, trying to track down those who slaughtered his tribe. He heard tales of the tribes being interested in Frostfell, and wants to investigate the site in case they show up.
Race: Earth Genasi Class: Barbarian/Totem Warrior (I reskinned the Bear to be Earth elemental for story sake)
Home Nation: Breland
Backstory: Brick was born from a smaller town within Breland that just happened to be associated briefly with a manifest zone. It was this planar touched area that seeped into his womb and created a boy who looks reddish and chalky. As all things in Eberron magic and the planes were a way of life but this was still a harsh reality for a growing boy. Knowing he never really fit in was hard on him as was being completely and pointedly different.
While he cared for his family quite a bit this really stuck with him. The resentment toward his neighbors only grew. As he got older and learned quite a bit more he found that he was fascinated with what he saw as the ones who helped make him, the elementals. He soon left his home in search of furthering his connection to them, though the risks of leaving home soon caught up with him. His skill in combat soon became apparent, due to his thick skin and inherent strength. He fought with a stilled fury that others would comment on later, his wading through the fray as a stone faced juggernaut. His efforts were not in vain as he slowly came to grips with his elemental side and was able to soon call upon the traits of his forebears.
While working as a fighter in a competition he found a call for bodyguards, it was something he was skilled at and knew it was next for his journey. He came upon the expedition and applied for service.
Name: Non Race/Class (Subclass): Changeling/Rogue (Swashbuckler) Home Nation: Lhazaar Principalities Backstory: Non grew up in an orphanage located in Regalport. Despite the adults telling them they were no different from the other children, Non always felt like an outsider as they were the only changeling within the orphanage. It didn't help that the other children were so cruel to them as well. That was until Isra, a half elven urchin, arrived. Unlike the other children, Isra knew changelings were the norm and treated them as such. They became close friends and even ran away from the orphanage to live their own life in freedom. One night, however, Isra suddenly disappears for weeks, only to return beaten and bloodied and having suddenly developed an aberrant dragonmark. She refused to tell Non what had happened and continued to writhe in pain as her mark burned her skin. Years have passed since then and though Isra says she doesn't mind her mark as much anymore, it still causes her immense pain. Hearing of the expedition to Frostfell and the secret library, Non decided to join in hopes of discovering any information that may be able to rid Isra of her mark or at the very least lessen her pain.
Name: Qulenna "Q" Race: Elf (Valenar High Elf) | Warlock 3 (Hexblade) Home Nation: Breland (Sharn) Backstory (Including a reason for accompanying the expedition): Somewhere in the lower levels of Sharn, in a shady district rife with crime and disease, a blade flashed quick and a body hit the ground, then another blade and another sick thud. A young girl hid nearby as she watched both of her parents cut down by cutthroat degenerates. Anger swelled inside her, but she knew that if she revealed herself she'd be cut down too. That was the way of things here. So she waited till the way was clear, then on hands and knees she crawled to her parents side. Tears dripped down her face and silent anguish washed out of her like a tidal wave of grief. Her hand gripped the double scimitar that her mother had brandished against the cutthroats, she could feel it's leather wrapped haft grip her hand back and felt a warmth in it, as if was embracing her to comfort her.
Flash forward nearly 30 years now and Qulenna stood on the precipice of her greatest journey, the beginning of legacy. The blade still held in her hand, never leaving, the thought of her parents held in high regard alongside the Undying who communed with her through the blade, guided her, gave her the strength to raise herself out of poverty and slums to legend. This quest to the Frostfell would be like that Undying before her, she could feel it's adventurous spirit guiding her and she would honor it as her parents had, until she had proven that she was ready to return home to the sacred land and take her place amongst her people.
Name: Ulfgar Kundarak Race: Dwarf (Mark of Warding) Class: Wizard (School of Abjuration) Home Nation: Mror Holds Backstory:
Ulfgar is a young member of House Kundarak and lives by their headquarters at Korunda Gate in the Ironroot Mountains. He is young, trying to rise in station within the Kundarak house. Possessing the Mark of his House he has put his focus on abjuration magic - he aims to become a specialist in security, banking and protection. In response to the recent discovery of Thurm Deepcandle's tome in one of their vaults, House Kundarak wanted one of their own agents on the resulting expedition. Ulfgar volunteered thinking this would be a great opportunity to earn more positive reptutation and standing in his family.
Name: Piper Race (Subrace)/Class (Subclass): Warforged / Bard (College of Lore) Home Nation: Breland (Wroat) Backstory:
"This one understands what it must do." Piper said matter-of-factly to himself.
Piper looked intently upon the letter he held delicately in his metallic hands. The letter was starting to weaken due to it having been furled and unfurled multiple times.
Thurm had initially requested his assistance. As his mind drifted to thoughts of the dwarf he felt a pang in his chest. Shocked, he pulled back the panel on the left side of his chest, nothing appeared to be defective. "Upset? Grief? Loss?" Piper did not understand what the pang was but it occurred each time he thought of Thurm recently.
Thora, the daughter, had sent the letter. Piper glared at her signature. She was to pick up where Thurm had left off. "This one understands what it must do." Piper sounded more determined this time, at least that was what he thought the change in his voice's tone and volume had meant.
Piper knew duty, honour, integrity. If Thora required assistance then to North he must travel.
He neatly furled the letter and stashed it away before taking out his nights takings; a handful of sovereigns and crowns. Since gaining his freedom, Piper had naturally used the tools he had been created with to get by - a series of copper pipes adorned his back which when used created the most enchanting and enthralling music. Piper frequently plied his trade in the taverns and bars throughout Breland; "My function is piper. My name is Piper." he mused to himself. He added the coins to his pre-existing savings though he was unaware of how long, or expensive, the journey would be.
