This will be my first time DM'ing and am keen to try it out. I am looking for 4-5 players to play The Sunless Citadel. It’s really only been about 4 months since I have started playing D&D, so be patient and flexible; if I do something wrong, let me know and I will look into it.

- 5e rules apply.
- Create your character sheet and share it (D&D Beyond, preferably).
- I’m not familiar with Eberron or Ravnica, so try to keep it to Forgotten Realms.
- I’d prefer mostly beginners, with perhaps a vet in there somewhere (to keep me honest).
- 5 players maximum
- The style will hopefully be a mix of everything. I tend to write more than less. If you're not sure if something is "acceptable", ask!
- Start at Level 1.
- I am pretty regular at posting, probably at least 1x per day.
Put your ideas for your character below. Include the following:

Backstory: feel free to be as detailed as you like - it’s as long as it needs to be :)
As soon as I have enough, or choose the 5, I will let you know the story with link.
Backstory: Garnet comes from a Earth Genasi village in the mountains. Fairly isolated and mostly peaceful . The village itself allied to an underdark gnome settlement, offering trade from the surface and military might to their gnome friends below. An old gnome cleric a resident of Garnet's village teaches his faith and lends a hand in the education of the local children. Always ready with stories of far away adventures, heros and villains. As a child Garnet would always listen to the old man with stars in her eyes. As soon as she was able Garnet took the opportunity to serve in the gnome city as a part of their militant guard. She spent years beneath, serving loyalty and without complaint.Garnet genuinely cared for those she protected and found comradery in her fellow guard. For the most part the guard dealt with miscreants, the occasional aggressive creatures and upheld order. Long gone where the days Garnet sat starry eyed dreaming of adventures, and as she approached a more mature age she began to chafe in her role. Doing the same things day in and day out was starting to suffocate her. So she resigned from the guard and returned to her village. Garnet reunited with her mentor the cleric. She spent a time helping the old man with the children and lending her strength where it was needed in the village. Untill one night the old cleric brought a parcel to Garnet's home. Inside was a longsword simple but beautiful. The cleric told Garnet that his stories were true, he had lived them and the sword once belonged to his companion. Now it was a gift to aid Garnet on her own adventures. So in the mixed up fear and excitement of trying something new. Garnet bid her farewell's and set out.
(I am 100% a beginner at DND but it's something I have always wanted to do. I'm currently reading as much of the rules as I can.)
Backstory: Sorry it's a long one, will try and come up with a shorter version later.
Sandrina's was to begin and end as nothing more than a pet in the Seelie court. Stolen from her parents before she could even know them, the first thing she can remember is being presented as... something. She was never quite sure. All she knows about that part of her life was just, sitting. Sitting and doing nothing. As days became weeks, weeks became months, and months became years, Sandrina started to understand the patterns. When the fey who owned her came and left, and she was glade when they left. Things were better when they weren't there. She had more freedom, though it wasn't much. It was worse when the fey were there. The one that seemed to... be aware of her the most they called Oberon. When the fey were there, she wasn't noticed much except to make a comment on how she looked. She wasn't sure what they meant by it, but apparently it was a good thing. She learned to avoid their eyes, because when she didn't they took notice to her and that's when the fun for them happened. When they did take notice of her, they liked to play games that seemed to be more fun to them than they ever did to her. What was worse was when other people appeared at the court. People that seemed to be like her, but while she had long since entered a state of indifference, they were all terrified.
It finally clicked, not long after a man came to the court who was different from the rest. He came willingly, without any of the fear that other people came with. After he was done with his part, and long after Sandrina had been dismissed by Lord Oberon, he approached her in the middle of the night. His words were quiet, and when he was done Sandrina's eyes seemed to open completely for the first time ever. She had been taken, kidnapped, to be nothing more than a pretty thing to look at. And when she outlived her prettiness, or when the Arch-fey became bored, she'd be killed or worse. Seeing what the fey had done to the people who arrived here on accident, she didn't have to imagine what the 'or worse' could be. That same night, while the Seelie court was busy preparing to leave to allow the Unseelie courts arrival, Sandrina slipped out. Somehow not noticed by the members of the court, she ran, with only a small crystal and the pouch that carried it. She ran and ran and ran some more, until she reached the small outcropping of trees the man who saved her told her to go to. Only here could mortals enter and leave by themselves. As she took a step in, she felt the world around her begin to change. She couldn't tell what about it was changing, but things certainly were. That's when she came face to face with Oberon. Her stomach dropped, and for the first time she felt something other than the quiet emotional distance. Fear. She dropped her head, years of training herself to avoid their eyes too powerful for her to stop. He reached out lifted her head up, and she couldn't quiet tell his mood. "You really want to leave that badly?" he asked her. She didn't say anything, to terrified to respond. He laughed, "Well then, this should be fun..." he stops, as the air around her began to change. "A promise though," he says, eyes burning. "If you return to the Feywild, I can promise you will never leave them ever again."
He was gone. She was alone. Looking around, all she could see were trees. Spooked and remembering his promise, she darted through them, running long into the night. She finally came to the edge of the forest, where a small village resided. A village that seemed just as frightened of her as she was of them. No one trusted her. No one but the old wizard that lived far off from the rest of the village. He took her in, cared for her, and explained the things that made no sense. He seemed to understand what happened to her, though she never spoke of it except to ask him about the presence she felt. A leftover from her time there he explained. When she was taken they attached a part of their power to her, even if they didn't know it. She could use it, he said. It was her power to use if she wanted. When the old wizard died, she became a herbalist. While the village never opened her fully with open arms, they began to send their ill and injured to her. She helped them as best she could, and started paying the children of the village to bring her the herbs and plants she needed. She became terrified of the forest before long, because of what Oberon's promise. Even as the memories seemed to fade away to nothing more than a feeling, Sandrina remained horrified of the forest, and any wooded places she came across.

Fluin is renown among his clan as a great warrior and hero of his people. He is a warrior and has made a name for himself among his own kin in that regard. Recently he has traveled from his clan though, wishing to see more of the world at large.
Shara, a performer with a traveling caravan who obtained the skills of a thief, she has moved past dancing and engaging in petty acts of thievery and seeks to become an adventurer.
She is looking for a new family, whether she is aware of it or not. Her caravan was her home, but when it was beset by monsters on the road she set out to make herself stronger and focused on use of the crossbow to do so. She is a strong believer in teamwork.

Daemyar was orphaned as his legion was wiped out when he was very young. He’d survived by hiding. Hobgoblins don’t hide, and as such, he would not be welcome with another legion, for his cowardice. If he wants to try and get any sort of success, or glory: it’ll have to be on the terms of the rest of the world. For a hobgoblin, that means he’s going to have to come in with something good. And that means the sunless citadel. These are his first steps to glory.
I tend to build characters to fit what gaps a party has, I have been playing dnd for over 5 years but am new to 5e so I can help find rules that sound familiar or very wrong, but won't be rule lawyering or anything like that. I'll leave a pair of characters I have on standby but if a party wants a different role filled I can make someone to fit that.

Grew up in a large gnome town tinkering and building during the day, and sneaking out with her sisters to party at night. She and her sister fell for the same man but her sister got to him first, when she tried to introduce the young soldier to their dad, an important gnome in the city, he acted happy but the next day the soldier was reassigned across the continent. She feels terrible because introducing him was her idea and she has set off to try and find him and return him to her sister.
Growing up, Rose quickly tired of how strict and boring and uninteresting drow life was down in the underdark. On a night raid, they looked up and saw the beauty of the music the elves made and their dances. During the fight they pretended to be wounded and fell. The drow quickly left and they stood and began a new journey to explore this far more interesting world. They find this to be much more exciting than watching their back for a dagger from their younger siblings who want their rank in the family. They love taverns and especially tavern brawls.
I also have a volstrucker agent from wildemount built cause I got way too into that world after reading the book that came out. She is a wizard with a tragic backstory that forced her into the secret magic police, could be translated into another world pretty easily.
Name: Ithelion (In progress, still working out what can be done) Race: High Elf Class/Background: Wizard/Sage Backstory:
Originally sent to training in mystical/religious orders at her parents insistence, Ithelion could not contain her interest in magic. As time went by she did well in her studies but attracted the attention of the Master of the Library, who noticed her unusual reading habits, and -- contrary to his instructions -- indulged her interest. This only fueled her fascination with the mysteries of all things Arcane, and ultimately the Master Librarian sponsored her bid to exit from her order and train instead as a Wizard.
She feels a debt to her original order for allowing this, and to the Master Librarian in particular, for helping her to achieve her true potential.
Having lived in an elvish enclave for most of her life, her only understanding of other societies is though her study of history. She is now seeking to correct that limitation and perhaps further her arcane knowledge in the process.
[[ Sadly, I know nothing of the scenario...but hopefully her old order or -- more likely -- the Master Librarian -- has some connection that explain her presence ]]
About me: Played in one other PBP game; played a lot of tabletop RPGs years ago, and have starved since then. Very little experience of 5e.
Backstory: Family of potters, gambler in Teziir, relocation to Luskan, working as negotiator for Gundren and others
Rieta hails from Taziir on the southern shore of the Dragonmere. One of there siblings, she was born into a family of potters. Being born earlier than expected, it was a miracle that she survived. Even today she is physically weaker than most people. An artisan's life was not her piece of cake. From a young age she snuck out to browse the gambling establishments of the city. Once she gambled against a member of the Talondin Clan from Iriaebor and won a little bit of a fortune in ship, captain and crew. Yes, she had cheated a bit.
When she discovered that shaddy people were tailing her, she decided to not put her family in danger and ran off to the north, Luskan to be exact. There she fueled her gambling addiction in any way imaginable and got herself in a pinch more often than she could count. Consequently, she got indebted to a lieutenant of Ship Rethnor and nearly brought into servitude.
Luckily a dwarfen merchant had an eye on her and paid off her debt. Gundren also got her off gambling and suggested to work for him in case of upcoming negotiations and dealings with folks from inner Faerun. She tried to pay off her personal debt by assisting him on his endeavors and earned some pocket money with her pottery trinkets. As more and more missions came in, she decided to concentrate on the adventuring part of her life.
About me: I am rather new to 5e, but used to play cyberpunk2020 and am part of an ongoing fate core campaign. I am playing one of the characters in the pbp one shot "capricious kobolds and where to find them". My time zone is GMT+1 and I can post once or twice a day.
Backstory: Quozephyr, or Zeph, used to be a paladin in the service of Torm, the god of loyalty and duty. One day, she was sent with many others to quell a rebellion that had the potential to bring a city to ruin. She, along with her allies, fought every rebel until she found out something horrible. As her allies continued their slaughter, she learned that the cause of rebellion was the starvation of the poor. Unable to cope with what she had done, she fell to her knees and let out a horrible scream. A wave of darkness washed over and consumed all of her companions. Her beautiful white wings shot out of her back, catching fire, as she sat there for hours. When she finally moved, she realized the feathers of her wings had burned away and left nothing but bone. She stood up and threw her amulet on the ground before stabbing it with her sword. She never returned, allowing her order to believe that everyone had died.
Backstory: Haldos used to be a normal human, with human parents. But as he aged, his skin began to turn red and horns and a tail started to appear. It came as a surprise because no one could remember any of his ancestors making deals with fiends. At first, Haldos became fixated on finding the ancestor that cursed him to be a tiefling, and he studied ancient and modern history meticulously before turning to genealogy. When Haldos could not find any proof of meddlings of the infernal with his family, he turned to Lathander, the god of renewal, to try to reverse the curse upon him. However, he did not get what he expected. Instead, he was told to accept the curse. Haldos begrudgingly accepted, adding the virtue name "Honest." He kept turning to Lathander to seek answers, which he was eventually given -- it turns out that he did not become a tiefling of any fault of his parents; he was blatantly cursed by a devil at birth. Thankful to Lathander for being able to finally find closure, he pledged to serve the deity.
Race: Half Elf (drow heritage RP flavor, but not using racial variant)
Class/Background: Rogue (Criminal background)
Backstory: Fenriel was born to a human woman who never spoke of his father. All that he knows is that he was an elf, and that he was slain by former comrades before his son's birth. Fenriel's mother was poor, and the dislike directed at her for raising a half-drow child did not allow for much opportunity for legitimate employment and so became involved with the local thieves' guild. Growing up, Fenriel was practically adopted as the favored nephew by some of the members who taught him a few tricks of their own. He became quite adept at picking locks and sneaking into places, and began going on jobs as well.
After his mother's death at the hands of the guards during a heist gone wrong, Fenriel became more hesitant about going on the jobs, no longer seeing them as grand games like he had before. Now an adult, he still does the occasional job with his old Guild and keeps in touch with many of his mentors, but he wants to see more of the world than his mother had the opportunity to see during her own lifetime.
Disclosure: You stated that you preferred new players with possibly a veteran player. I have been playing D&D for about 10 years, and have been playing and DMing 5e since it was in playtest as D&D Next. However, I am new to Play By Post here on D&DBeyond (I have never played a PbP game here before, in fact), though I have experience with PbP on other sites.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to craft their characters! They were really awesome to read through - and really tough to choose from.
As of now, recruiting is closed, PMs have been sent to those selected. As you may or may not know, PbP games can change and evolve. If a change happens and we need a new player, I will re-open this thread.

Ability scores: 6 13 11 14 9 9
Name: Fenriel Waugh
Thanks again for your interest.
