The mage Alstroem has made many breack-throughs in the research of demi-planes. Just recently he has constructed a magical device that can manifest and anchor various planes and demi-planes to the material plane. But on his excursions the unfortunate happened: He bonked his head and lost most of his memory as well as his spellbook. Now he has tasked you, his servant/guard/cook/student/whatever with retrieving his precious collection of magical knowledge.
In this one-shot you will visit many curious places on the search for Augustus' Alstroems spellbook. Create a 4th level character using any official content. If you want to use UA or Homebrew, feel free to ask! Please include your Characters name, race, class and a few sentences worth of backstory in your comment. Oh, and a link to the Character sheet would also be appreciated.
I'm interested but is there anyway I could play as level 1 if my character is sufficiently meta? I'm new to dnd and don't want to skip the first part of the experience. I'd be a tiefling warlock with a fiend or homebrew patron.
Standart Array or Pointbuy to give all equal chances. I actually dont really see a way to play a 1st level character together with 4th level ones. So you can either do it or pass. Sorry friend
Backstory: Zerrick grew up in the woods, his parents were exiled from the plane of air. He grew up with his siblings, his best and only friends. When they grew up, their parents died. There wan an fight with his oldest brother, and his sisters took his brother's side. So Zerrik was kicked out, and then he found a town, its his first time in a social setting.
Backstory: Keg's family wandered through the mountains before stopping at the Spiced Pumpkin Fist monastery, home of dwarves, orcs, and goblins who specialized in brewing all kinds of pumpkin beers. Keg's parents left him in the care of Grandmaster Pye, who taught the tabaxi the way of the monk arts. Keg traveled through the mountains, helping travelers, finding trinkets and even slaying a couple of giants. He got a job as a bodyguard of Alstroem, who frequents the monastery, and has accepted the task of finding the spellbook.
This sounds like fun and i have had a character concept in mind which might fit well.
Name : Baran the Reeve
Race : Human
Class : Cleric (Knowledge Domain)
Backstory : Baran joined the watch because a man needs a job and it seemed like a respectable enough way to earn a living. Smart but not very athletic he most often found himself as helper to the watchouse investigator, looking into the problems and crimes more complicated than the latest tavern brawl. As his career progressed he became obsessed with finding the truth, even more than with his supposed job of bringing people to justice. He dug deep to learn everything about what was happening, sure that if he had the knowledge he could find the wrongdoers before they even struck. One day as he casually muttered a prayer to the Lord of Knowledge the god answered him. The next day he went to the god's temple and begged to be admitted for training as a priest. Now he does the work of a reeve, learning all he can, writing everything down in his notebook; while he waits for circumstance or his god to call him again. He is a patient man, he can wait for the call as long as it takes.
Gleam was only visiting. He is an assistant to another wizard who was looking to send some materials to Alstroem for his Demiplane research. But Alstroem told him he should stick around to see it finally happen, and soon after, Alstroem was in a pickle. Well, he couldn’t just leave his master’s friend helpless. So he’s sticking around and hoping he’s not the only one to stay and help.
Character Name: Boosandei 'Boo' Belfrye Race: Variant Human Feat: Weapon Master Class: Bard (-3-) / Sorcerer (-1-) Bard College: College of Whispers / Sorcerous Origin: Draconic Bloodline (Brass)
Background: Tavern Wench Feature: Feign Ignorance - People generally don't think to ask you what you know and even have a disadvantage attempting to find out what you know.
Backstory: Once upon a time a young peasant girl named Boosandei Belfrye (but many just call her Boo for short) became lost in the woods and eventually ended up at the cottage of the Hag Griselda who strangely enough adopted the girl. Though every night before going to bed the old hag would say to Boo, "sleep well for on the tomorrow I am going to cook you in a nice haggish stew and eat you." Over the years Boo grew up under the tutelage of the Griselda and through her learned a little about magic and other things better not to mention in mixed company. Eventually, the Hag sent Boo off to attend a finishing school called the Convent of Saint Ella of the Goddess Waukeen. Boo remained there learning from the nuns until graduating then she went to work as a Tavern Wench at an Inn known as the Screwed Dragon then later accepted a position as a Housekeeper for an infamous Wizard named Augustus' Alstroems.
Description: Boo is a petite and slender human female with light olive skin, pale-blue eyes, and a long thick mane of raven-black hair along with an assortment of tattoos and piercings. Her attire is stylish and elegant consisting of a colorful silken blue bodice with white lace trim and short red puffed sleeves while her frock is plain white.
Backstory: Bulwark was made by Alstroem in order to have an assistant of sorts. The Warforged was taught basic magic that later developed into him begining to show quite a skill for the arcane arts. Overtime he became one of the favored students of his creator and teacher, even giving new apprentices a few lessons. When his master lost his book he volunteered to go look for it.
Backstory : Cheshire was Alstroem‘s and had grown quite fond on the wizard. Cheshire petitioned the Archfey of familiars to allow letting him go to the aid of his master. To retrieve his memories and spell book so they could be together again. His request was granted.
Backstory: Elama’s tribe had a long-standing arrangement with a nearby city, and she served as part of a group of tribesmen irregulars in the army. After her term of enlistment ended, Alstroems found it useful to hire Elama’s services from time to time as extra muscle on his travels. Now that his spellbook (and mind!) have gone missing, he has once again called on Elama for a job.
