As a child, Throk was part of an orc tribe but was often kicked around by the full orc children and called weak. One day after taking a beating he left the tribe and never returned. He lived off hunting and and stealing until, when he was 15, he was caught. The local authority gave him the option to join the army instead of sitting in jail and he quickly agreed. He excelled as a soldier even though the rest of the army was scared of him. After his enlistment was up he headed into the more uncivilized parts of the world where there weren't as many people to look down upon him.
Name: Percival Spiderbane Race: High Half-Elf Background: Knight of an Order BackStory: Percival Spiderbane at your service. I am a full-fledged member of the Knights of the Unicorn. My father wanted me to be a baker but, I am having none of that. Once I heard of the Knights and the devotion to the magnificent Lurue, I ran right out and petitioned to join. I eventually was accepted, though there were a few fiascoes here and there, and became a Squire. I learned all the knightly duties from my Knight, Sir Bjorn Everspells, and after much hard work, toil, couple frightening encounters, toil again, I earned my title. After showing my father my accomplishment, and his feigned disinterest, I gathered my things, and have set out to make my name in this world. I heard Phandalin was seeking help so I, Sir Percival Spiderbane (not sure about that last part but, my Knight gave it to me after I squashed a villainous spider in my bedroll) have set out to help the people with their problem. Glory to the Knights of the Unicorn!
Darvin was born to a human couple living in Baldur's Gate. His father was a member of the Flaming Fist, acting as a guard for the city. Darvin was not happy with the injustices he saw in the city around him, and regularly caused problems for his father until he learned to pick his battles. He caught the attention of a Knight of the Unicorn who told the young paladin about his Order. That night, Darvin's dreams were filled with what he interpreted to be a message from his Guide encouraging him to join with the Knight.
A few years have passed, and Darvin is certain that he is on the correct path. He travels the Sword Coast, seeking adventure and giving aid to those who need it.
A dedicated guard, he worked hard to overcome prejudice and rise in the ranks, becoming decent at investigating crimes.
One day the criminal underground set a series of false clues that lead him and a full guard contingent to be ambushed. He was the only survivor. At once because of his background he was under suspicion. He decided to quit, and leave town, with little more than an old battle axe , his armour, shield, and a few basic supplies.
Disillusioned with the fruits of his efforts to be a good person, and in a fit of anger, he decided to enact a ritual he remembered seeing from his mother during his early childhood. The ritual worked, and he went from being a charismatic completely average guard to being stronger than any of his ex-comrades.
He hopes to make a name and fortune for himself as an adventurer, and possibly still help people along the way to atone for his guilt about the ritual.
Edit: oops, I rolled gold in the dndbeyond app and used it to buy a few basic equipment, is that ok? Or do I need to roll gold here?
Edit 2: for expediency purposes, in case I was supposed to roll gold here: 4D4 :
11 x 10 gold = 60 gold ack rolled much worse this time. Ugh. Okay, let’s not panic. Maybe I should have gone with standard equipment? Let’s see.. battleaxe + scale mail = 60 gold. Although I then don’t even have a backpack or rations. If you think this is a horrible idea based on the adventure, I guess we could go hide + shield + axe + backpack, rations n bedroll. I suppose it depends whether the campaign has us hover around a city and we can earn gold early to buy other adventuring supplies, including food? I prefer scale simply because buying or scavenging a shield later seems easier than buying new scale mail. But I’ll leave what I should buy up to you. The good thing is that pact weapon should allow me to conjure a great sword and use it as a spell focus at lvl 3 I think.
Gergwyn was a body snatcher for a doctor who then got into some nasty necromancy stuff. This has happened three times. Same job, same promises about “for medicine,” and the same zombies trying to eat Gergwyn’s flesh.
Gergwyn decided its time to separate himself from that life a bit, or he’s likely to be hung or chased down by Order of the Gauntlet types who group him in with his employers. So this time: he’s going legit. But he’s still looking for quick coin, so here’s hoping this life pans out... and without zombies.

Character Name: Thadalas Willowlake Character Race: Wood Elf Character Class: Rogue (Scout) Character Background: Folk Hero
Thadalas Willowlake is a Wood Elf born among an elvish tribe that resides in Ardeep Forest. The chieftain of the tribe is Rond Arrowhome. The forest is a few miles east of Waterdeep, on the south bank of the River Dessarin. Three clearings in the northwest corner closest to Waterdeep are favorite rendezvous spots for clandestine lovers and runaways. The interior of Ardeep Forest contains many ridges and steep gullies that are hidden beneath thick vines, dense shrubbery, and cloaking mists that present a danger to casual travelers. In addition, tunnels, cellars, and vaults constructed by dwarves during a time of alliance became pitfalls centuries later.
About a decade before the War of the Silver Marches, the inhabitants of the neighboring village of Nightstone, led by Lord Drezlin Nandar from Waterdeep, started making hunting expeditions into the forest in an attempt to reestablish the hunting lodge held there by House Nandar two centuries earlier. These incursions infuriated the few remaining elves. In the following years, the conflict escalated until the elves assaulted Nightstone and killed Drezlin. In the aftermath, his widow, Velrosa Nandar, made peace with the elves and pledged never to make any such expeditions into the forest again. She kept that promise until her death one year later when the cloud giants attacked Nightstone.
These events sparked an alliance between goblins and orcs that were residing in Ardeep Forest. The orc tribe are known as Ear Seekers. They gained this name from cutting off the ears of their enemies for trophies. Rond and the wood elves protect Ardeep Forest to the best of their ability, preserving the ruins and wildlife that remain. The wood elves had many hunters and gatherers, and they also had scouts and spies that would keep a watchful eye on foreign threats. Thadalas wasn’t a hunter or a gatherer; instead, he was a scout. His job was to search for orcish or goblin territory and report back to Rond so they can lead an assault.
Thadalas was captured by the Ear Seekers, and was doomed to be slain and eaten. Before that could happen, Thadalas had his right ear chopped off as a trophy. As he was waiting to be killed, a group of adventurers had invaded the orcish camp and saved Thadalas from his fate. The adventurers were on a mission to rescue the town of Nightstone and were searching for its missing citizens. Thadalas, in his gratitude, offered to assist the adventurers and in doing so, found the citizens in a goblin cave and rescued them all accordingly.
Thadalas returned to his family among the wood elves of Ardeep Forest, and had informed them of what had transpired. Rond led a charge of warriors to Nightstone to help the humans reclaim their town from the attacking orcs and goblins. Thadalas had joined this charge, and felt a rush of overwhelming joy from this magnanimous act. Rond could’ve left this alone but instead felt that the courteous act of rescuing Thadalas from being slaughtered warranted their aid. Inevitably, the goblins and orcs were defeated and Nightstone was reclaimed.
Thadalas had a revelation this day. He was inspired by these heroes to change his outlook of life. He’s spent his entire life within Ardeep Forest contending these foul creatures from tarnishing the ruins and wildlife that he never had a chance to venture out to see the rest of the world. When the wood elves returned to their forest, Thadalas made a vow that he wanted to leave the forest and become an adventurer, like the heroes that saved him. Rond and the rest of his family were understanding of this and wished him the best in his endeavors and is now leaving to explore. No destination in sight, just wanting to enjoy the journey, make some new friends, and find new stories to tell.
