I am getting into this DM thing more and more and I find that I enjoy it a lot. So, I have decided to take on the Lost Mines of Phandelver! Hope you can join me.
A few things that you'll have to know before joining:
- please be able to post consistently. If you are not able, please communicate. - roll stats here (4d6 drop lowest or standard set). - link your character sheet here please. - I enjoy a good mix of combat and roleplay. - I enjoy the darker, bloodier, misery-soaked side of adventuring as much as the happy, heroic stuff. ----> in regards to the above, this means there might very well be "mature themes" and "adult situations" (blood, gore, hinting of terribleness, etc...) - there is no bullying or other ******bag-like stuff - it will be safe for all. - while I tend to use the adventure as a guide, often I will go off-script. - start at level 1. - be sure to put "all the things" in your character sheet. I'll read them and they'll be part of my choice. ------> by "all the things" I mean all the options - flaws, ideals, backstory, alignment, etc... - in this game, death is a very real possibility. You have been warned ;)
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask and I will answer. I'll leave this open for a few days - or until a suitable number of acceptable PCs apply. If I need replacements, I'll come here so feel free to post, even if it's closed.
Name:Wolfe Oberon Race: Human (Variant) Class: Warlock (Celestial) Background: Noble Backstory: Wolfe was born into the wealthy patriar family of Oberon in Baldur's gate. He grew up to be a carousing scoundrel and an embarrassment to his family. Eventually he was sent away from the city and he has resented his father for that ever since. He travelled the Sword Coast spending his last gold, but in a cardgame at The Yawning Portal in Waterdeep one fateful evening he won a talisman that would set his life on a new destiny. That night the archangel Ezekiel appeared before him and ordered him to set out on a journey to find and protect one Evangeline "Rabbit" Sebrica and to save her soul from the darkness of the Shadowfell. He eventually found her in Neverwinter but it quickly became clear that she wasn't safe there. Together they are on adventure find a way to leave the struggle between light and darkness.

I've played PbP before, but first time here at DnDBeyond. I'll have to bone up on using the dice roller, and please correct me if I breach any etiquette!
This is a character I've been hoping for a chance to play for quite some time...
Edit: so, every time I edit the post to add more text, the rolls change... Sorry, I didn't know that would happen. I could either roll again in a different post or use standard array or point buy, as you see fit.
Mau was one of his clans protectors, a position of great respect. His prime roll was to protect his clans sacred artifact (a bright red dragon amulet) as it was greatly sought after by a mysterious dragon worshipping cult. Unbeknownst to Mau the cult had infiltrated his clan and had allowed the cult to take his young son hostage. This had the desired effect on Mau and he let his guard down on the amulet as he left to rescue his son. His plan ended up being fruitless as he was discovered before being able to reach his child who was then executed in front of him. With the cult now in possesion of the amulet, Mau has left his tribe in disgrace and his only desire is to find those ruined his life.
Edryd grew up the youngest of 7 children on farm not far from Baulder's Gate. As a child he was often forgotten and overlooked as he was quiet and introspective. He found himself looking for ways to avoid people and be left alone in his thoughts. It was in this quest for peace he discovered the glory of the night. He would spend hours and hours wondering the farmland staring at the stars. Eventually he avoided the day completely. His wanderings got further and further from home until he just stopped going back. He lived off the land embracing the darkness finding complete peace and comfort under the shroud of the night. Late one particularly dark night he was visited by a vision of the goddess Selune. Moved by his dedication to the night she asked him to go forward comfort those in fear of the night and the dangers that lurk in the darkness. His eyes opened to the power and glory of the darkness he began traveling and helping those he could in the name of the Moonmaiden. While not comfortable around people he has learned to function in society to further his goddesses goals. His minor accomplishments so far have garnered him a few meager possessions such as his poorly maintained armor and weapons.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"Losing to a master is nothing to be ashamed of, unless you learn nothing from the experience."
Name: Evangeline "Rabbit" Sebrica Race: Human (Variant) Class: Sorcerer (Shadow) Background: Criminal/Spy Backstory: working to update along with character sheet
Backstory:
Evangeline might be her given name, but it is one she never uses; everyone calls her "Rabbit". She grew up on the streets of Neverwinter and never really knew her parents. She has just always been on her own. To survive, she got involved with street gangs and as she got older, became caught up in more involved criminal activities.
Over time, she has come to recognize a few odd things about herself. First, was that she would hardly ever bleed when injured. Then she noticed over time being able to see better and better in the dark. And what began with just being able to spontaneously extinguish flames, grew into more and more ability to control flames. Eventually Rabbit discovered more and more to her abilities, with the help of a shady dealer in arcane items that learned of her ability. He was the one that got the crystal focus for her, so she still owes him for that. Plus he expects favors in return for his help, once what he believes will be powerful gifts grow stronger. He is really the only person that knows of her abilities; others on the streets just know her as a thief.
Recently, one of the robberies she was involved in went badly (a couple of people killed, guards alerted, they didn't get the loot). Promises had been made and the criminal syndicate that the job was for wants reimbursement which Rabbit doesn't have. As if that wasn't bad enough, one of the higher-ups in the gang seems to have gotten suspicious of Rabbit's abilities. She isn't sure what would happen if they did know, but she has always preferred to keep it to herself.
So just as Rabbit is trying to figure out how to perhaps get out of Neverwinter, some carousing nobleman named Wolfe Oberon shows up looking for her. By name - actually both her names! He has some crazy story and she has no idea who he is or what he's really up to. But given the danger she is in at the moment, he seems possibly be what will help her get out.
Thanks all - whew! That was quick. Some really hard choices but I think I have made my decisions. If you were picked, you'll get a message shortly.
Again, if you're reading this for the first time, or coming back to check on the status, don't fret; death is a real possibility in my game, and I've noticed that in PbP sometimes people disappear or get disinterested. So, chances are I'll need to come back to this thread for new sacrifices. new players. So keep posting your PCs! (plus I love reading your characters anyways!)
