1322 - Forgotten Realms - The Year of the Lurking Death
For the last three years, Rashemen has been under constant attack from the south by the land of Thay and from the North by the Tuigan Horde. Forces comprised of the dangerous witches The Wychlaran and the mighty Rashemaar berserkers have slowly pushed the invaders out of Rashemen and held the borders bringing some measure of peace to the land.
Due to the outer cities being attacked when forces slip through the border patrol, a new town is being built slightly south of the Ashenwood next to Lake Ashane to grow crops and fish to help supply food to the cities on the outskirts. As such Rashemen has sent posts for adventurers wanted to help defend the town since the bulk of their forces are kept on active border patrol.

Hi @Felgrimm, this sounds interesting. I’d love to join. Feel free to check out my recent posts to see if our play styles would gel. I hope so! :-)
I’m pretty chilled out about class and race. So if you’d prefer me to play anything in particular let me know. I like trying new things and can fill a party gap if you need that. Otherwise, here’s my character idea ((I’ll work on this over the next day or two, to flesh it out)):-
Name: Eve Darkshore Race: tiefling Class: warlock (classic Fiend I think!)
Portrait:
Background: criminal / spy Backstory: Eve left her home town when she was relatively young, around the time when her unusual powers began to manifest. She’d never been too content with the confines of village life anyway. Her lust for adventure was simply too great to ignore, often getting her into trouble with the law. She has wandered far and wide: through the wilds; and from village, to town, to city. And she's picked up a trick or two along the way. Getting by on her wits and cunning, she's equally at home hidden in the shadows or in a party in high society, relying on her natural charm and exotic background to navigate any scenario. Making as many enemies as friends though, she never stays in one place for very long. Although she always has a story for those who will listen (or for those who buy the drinks).
((I’m happy to tweak anything here to fit the world. And love developing deeper backstory as the game unfolds and in reaction to other party members)).
Name: Sanshevara Race: Human (variant) Class: Monk Way of the Elemental Bender Background: Urchin Backstory: Sanshevara, a female warrior monk who channels the elemental affinity of fire to her wishes, was an orphan till the orphanage was shut down, then an Urchin for quite some time, till she meets a wandering elemental bender by the name of Rama or the elemental lord Rama, as he saw potential and the need to spread the power of the elemental monk between the poor and powerless humans in the slum. He taught her the way of the Elemental Bender, finding that she has an affinity to fire, Sanshevara happy for once begun bidding her training, she manages to find a job as a cook in a local cook shop for a few years, before realizing her masters teachings which is to spread capability and true power amongst the helpless and needy, now travelling the world as a wondering elemental bender cook monk.
Name: Taelor Diamonddew Race: Wood Elf Class: Ranger (eventually Horizon Walker) Background: Folk Hero Backstory: Having been trained as a mapmaker as a youth, Taelor was born with a sense of wanderlust and a desire to see the world and help out, but living in a small village and needed to help his poor parents scrape together a living, Taelor never saw an opportunity to escape. At some point, however, his village came under the sway of a malevolent fey spirit who manipulated the residents of the town for its own amusement. Taelor alone was able to resist the fey's influence and attacked it, driving it away. Although celebrated for his bravery and his victory, Taelor saw his chance to escape, to become force for good around the Forgotten Realms. Hearing of the troubles in Rashemen, Taelor comes to help -- especially in hopes that he will have the opportunity to slay some witches, as his hatred for all fey has only deepened in the years since his first victory.
This sounds pretty interesting. I like the idea of a mystery set in a war torn country and the lawlessness of a new city. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Name: Edge of The World ("Edge") Race: Tabaxi Class: Rogue Background: Mercenary Veteran Backstory: Edge, a member of the Stormy Ridge Clan, comes from the high mountains in the northern parts of Maztica. An insatiable curiosity and love of oddities, antiquities, and beautiful objects lead him to become bored with life in the mountains and he quickly found himself on a ship to Faerun. Curiosity and adventure meant once there he fell in with The Chill, and traveled across the Sword Coast. But again the unknown beckoned, and he took passage across the Sea of Fallen Stars and finds himself in Rashemen in the middle of a war. What better spot is there to explore and find wonderful trinkets to study all while a new city is built around you. He is still learning the mannerisms of these people of Faerun. They smell odd, and seem to know nothing of personal space, but they are endless fascinating.
Name: Kaseon Race: Changeling Class: Bard, College of Eloquence Background: Charlatan Backstory: Kaseon has spent his life swindling others for fun and profit, as befitted a changeling. He'd grown up being taught that his people were not welcome anywhere and they shouldn't feel bound by their societies. A year ago, he concluded a massive swindle with his mentor, cheating a priest out of hundreds of gold meant for a non-existent charity. When he learned the priest had been cast from his faith as a result, he questioned his actions for the first time ever. He ended up turning in his mentor and returning most of the gold, but, although he wanted to atone, he didn't think he could do that in prison so he fled. He eventually came to this fledgling border town in an attempt to find atonement and a place where he can belong as himself. Though he still feels the need for caution, and hides his true face until he is confidant of acceptance.
What level would we be starting at? Thank you for the quick response!
Well lets see if this one has the stuff of heroes :).
It doesnt say so im assuming this is lv 1 start.
Name: Senna Ashenvale Race: Source Aasimar Class: Sorcerer (Divine Soul) Background: Faction Agent (Order of the Gauntlet). Using this to base her personality off of and give her a reason to be in Rashemen. Will build her to be both healer and offensive. Backstory:
Born from elven parents Senna was always different. Even though she resembles her elven parents in beauty her skin was a tone of blueish grey and her hair white. Her birth was in the summer and started when the sun was still shining bright. The labor was long and difficult and stretched to the night. A calm night where the sky was clear of any clouds and the full moon lit the earth. Some say angels themselves cleared the skies of clouds that night to give their blessing on this child. Others believe her skin toned by the ashes of a phoenix fallen after a hot day. Whichever it is, it has marked Senna and always made her stand out.
Her unique appearance caused her to be somewhat of a loner and teased when she was young by other elves. But they soon learned she possesed magical powers most others of her age could only dream of. She was thought to contain her abilities, finding a line between right and wrong. But often there were times where she could not control her emotions and for this she was sent to the Order of the Gauntlet. Her parents felt it was the best way for Senna to learn how control her abilities.
At a very young age she was cared for by those related to the Gauntlet, as she was to young and not skilled enough to enter its service. But her caretakers followed the Orders teachings and tought her that her inner passion can be used for good. The passion that sometimes could be seen as hatred and anger exists in all beings, so say the teachings of the Order. It is here where she found peace and learned not to be ashamed but to feel blessed and to fit in. Senna started to show more interest in actually joining the Order and once the time came she participated in the tests. Finding her place in a group that would not shun her for being different.
As a first mission after her trails she was sent to Rashemen. To spread the influence of the Order and to serve its purpose. To protect the weak and strike back at evil.
Backstory: Shevara grew up with a desire to become a wychlaran, one of the magical protectors of Rashemen. Unfortunately she had no natural talent, and the structure of the hathran's magical education didn't suit her either. Finding a way to bypass the traditional journey to power, she made a pact with one of the realm's powerful fey protectors. Unfortunately her mentors didn't approve of this method and she was outcast to live among the sylvan denizens of the Urlingwood, forced to defend herself constantly against hostile elves and fey. She traded with villagers at the forest's edge, which is how she heard about the call for warriors and hopes she can use this as a chance to prove her worth to her fellow Rashemi.
Name: Kaseon Race: Changeling Class: Bard, College of Eloquence Background: Charlatan Backstory: Kaseon has spent his life swindling others for fun and profit, as befitted a changeling. acoolnamehere is correct, it's starting first level. I had that in the initial post and then I remember cutting it to paste to a different spot and forgot apparently. My bad folks.
I have modified the initial post with more guidelines to help with any questions, as well as adding in a link to the campaign with content sharing enabled. All sourcebooks are available inside the campaign. https://ddb.ac/campaigns/join/14659401688283484
Name: Milo Copperfoot Race: Stout Halfling Class: Fighter Background: Far Traveler Backstory: Milo Copperfoot, so named for the thick patch of reddish brown hair on his feet, grew up in a small, isolated halfling village on the Sword Coast, south of Baldur's Gate. A quick and nimble lad, even from youth, Milo showed interested and skill in athletic pursuits, which eventually led him to be recruited into the local militia, who was tasked with protecting the village from the occasional troubles that wandered in. What he lacked in trained fighting skill, me made up for with a mix of tenacity, quick footwork, and luck. An ever curious fellow, Milo soon felt the draw to leave his village and see what lay beyond the border of his simple homeland.
Heading out with not much more than his swords and a simple rucksack, Milo began wandering and working his way west across the Western Heartlands, past The Dragon Coast, through Sembia, occasionally taking short term work as a caravan guard. From Sembia, he booked passage across The Sea of Fallen Stars to Thesk, walked the length of The Golden Way, through Two Stars, and eventually ending up in Rashemen, which he found to be quite an intriguing place.
Along the way, he collected small trinkets from the places he visited, listened to and told many stories, met many people and learned a great deal about the world. However, he still has not warmed up to foreign food, always longing for traditional halfling fare. In fact, for as much as he enjoys traveling and having new experiences, he has never forgotten his home. He caries a token and still faithfully holds to a few traditions that always give him that familiar feel of home, even being half a world away. A likable and insightful fellow, who is quick to defend his honor and the honor of others who he feels are being wronged, Milo is pretty easy to get along with, although he's well traveled enough to have a hearty amount of suspicious and mistrust when things don't feel right.
Class: Fighter for Gunslinger if allowed or BattleMaster
Background: Mercenary Veteran
Backstory: Garcis has few memories of his life before several years ago. The main memory he has is of waking up on a slab in the middle of a wizard's laboratory. The mad looking half elf who seemed to be the ruler of the tower explained that due to failing the agreed assignment, that Garcis had be contracted preform he was punished. Unsure of what the wizard meant, the Kobold looked around and found that he was covered in clothing and armor that was much to big for him, more akin to the size of a much larger humanoid. It would seem that he had been forcibly given a new smaller form.
In order to find out more, Garcis was forced to preform various menial tasks by the mad faster. Little details were given for each task done but never enough to be of any use in learning who or what he had once been. It was difficult for the first months as Garcis did not feel right in his body but overtime adapted, finding that being small as he was had many advantages despite the severe drawbacks being a kobold came with.
Eventually Garcis grew tired of being a servant to the wizard and in an act of bravery fueled by desperation for freedom he found weapons and fled the tower while the wizard was distracted with some of his various experiments. Since then he has kept running and made his way by fighting as it seemed that he still remembered the skills of combat from his previous but no longer important life.
Name: Verina Race: Half-Elf Class: Wizard Background: Criminal Backstory: Verina's mother was an elf with some magical capabilities who married a human thief. She died, leaving her daughter her spell book. Even while her father raised her to follow in his footsteps, Verina was fascinated by her mother's spell book and studied it often. As the years passed, Verina started to learn basic spells. No longer wanting to steal for a living, and longing to see distant places, Verina decided to leave her home and seek adventure and wealth with her magical abilities.
Backstory: The son of a skilled carpenter and builder, Ivor went into the family trade and made a name for himself as well. Though his affinity to magic and conjuration meant that he used his arcane skills to help him build, conjuring servants to save on paying for labourers. Heeding the call for adventurers and help building the new town, Ivor travelled far to aid the new town and hopefully build his name and reputation elsewhere.

Name: Ivor Bersk
Race: Human variant (Prodigy Feat)
Class: Wizard (Conjuration)
Background: Guild Merchant (Carpenter)
Backstory: The son of a skilled carpenter and builder, Ivor went into the family trade and made a name for himself as well. Though his affinity to magic and conjuration meant that he used his arcane skills to help him build, conjuring servants to save on paying for labourers.
Heeding the call for adventurers and help building the new town, Ivor travelled far to aid the new town and hopefully build his name and reputation elsewhere.
