BACKGROUND: Noble. Renarg is the current heir of House Verduggo, an Amnian noble house responsible for carrying out executions, properly disposing of the dead, keeping graveyards, and hunting down undead and necromancers—crucial, but rather ignoble services that makes other houses look down upon them. Renarg became the house heir after the recent death of his older brother Ralcerr, under strange circumstances, which brought him closer to his younger sister Reuhina, and distanced both siblings from their father Renarg I and their stepmother Sibilla. His mother Flór died during Reuhina's birth, and his father quickly remarried to Sibilla, from an rising noble house, who quickly became pregnant and gave birth to Roderic—which caused whispers doubting either Renarg I's fidelity to Flór or his paternity. His wife also recently died after ingesting a poison meant to him, which led Renarg to hide away his son Renarg III and suspect a plot by his stepmother to take control of the house and make her son Roderic become the new heir. Renarg now distances himself from his family's estate and advised Reuhina to do the same after her husband fell ill, focusing on his family's responsibilities and taking time to sort out all this intrigue before acting.
YOUR TIME ZONE: GMT -3 Brazil YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: Used to play in the Giant in the Playground forums long ago, but had never managed to actually finish a PbP campaign/adventure until recently in a Discord server. That led me to try again in these forums as I've had more free time recently. I'm currently DMing two Icewind Dale based one-shots and playing an OotA campaign. Edit: Missed the D&D part. I've been playing since AD&D 2nd Edition, around 97. YOURSELF: I'm an Illustrator and forever DM for my group for more than two decades. VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS (YES/NO): No. Would actually be okay with it, but would rather like a group message (or another thread) here in the forums to keep it all in the same place.
Hi! I haven't played Curse of Strahd and would love to be involved.
- NAME (Your characters name) Slink
- CLASS (Lets keep it all approved content from any official sourcebook choices for now) Rogue
- BACKGROUND (Tell me about your character) Thesda’s parents fell ill and died while the family was traveling through Waterdeep. They were not traveling with any other friends or family and she was left to fend for herself in a very foreign place at the age of seven. The young halfling was found starving and half dead behind Madame D’Lang’s brothel by a street urchin named Benny. For some reason he could not leave her to die and brought her back to the small space he had in an abandoned building. He nursed her back to health and they were inseparable for years to come. Thesda learned the ways of living on the street and found that she had a knack for being stealthy and quick with her hands. Benny started calling her slinker and the moniker stuck, eventually being shortened to Slink. Now that she is older she feels the urge to see new things and often hangs out by the city’s taverns listening to the tales and stories told by the patrons. A life of adventuring has a strong appeal to her and she dreams of leaving Waterdeep in search of excitement and treasure.
- YOUR TIME ZONE (Where you from?) Colorado, MST
- YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE (Got experience?) I played 3.5 for quite awhile when it came out but have just recently gotten back into playing with 5e in some online campaigns. I haven't had a lot of experience with PbP but I did some with the DM of my current game and loved it.
- YOURSELF (Tell me something interesting about YOU, not your character.) My family and I have fostered over 200 dogs. We've been fostering for about 10 years, it's been a really great experience!
- VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS (YES/NO) Yes, I am on Discord quite a bit anyway but whatever is the consensus of the group is find with me.
I work from home so can definitely post daily and regularly. :)
- NAME Oricoril the Watcher - CLASS Half Elf (high) Twilight Domain Cleric - BACKGROUND I was a town sheriff of little renown. For years I watched over my community instilling peace and tranquility for those who feared crime and evil in our midst. I do so for those who cannot fight for themselves, the elderly, women and children who are often persecuted by society. I had a wife, a lover who I still hold dear, her name is Aelfled, a Human of great kindness and beauty. During an investigation my fellow colleagues and I encountered a mildly powerful gang and in the conflict I received several injuries. I am infertile due to this conflict and can have no children of my own and thus my wife has left me in seek of being able to start a family. I understood her reasoning and eventually, I began to have dreams of a higher calling and left in search of my next path in life. Perhaps by fate or by chance I stumbled upon the Noble Hand in Tsurlagol several days travel from my village. I have devoted my days to the god Helm and strive protect those in the dark and bring serenity to those who might suffer or have fear. I now serve those in need during my travels, healing the fallen and fighting the terrors of the night until light returns in the morning.
Option 2:
-NAME Antonius - CLASS Rogue (tabaxi) - BACKGROUND A former knife juggler and traveling circus performer, Antonius spent his youth learning stories and performing with his caravan after leaving his clan at a young age with a lust for renown and a fascination of culture. He does whatever it takes to fame and learn new tricks to keep the competition at bay, though not well known at all parts, he has been known to play underhanded tricks on his fellow performers so he can be the star: breaking into wagons, stealing instruments and implicating others who might be a threat in crimes. He does not mind being dishonorable, so long as he can put a smile on stranger's faces and HE gets the applause. Due to his unethical behavior he was eventually kicked out of his circus and travels alone, utilizing his other skills to seek fortune and fame while continuously satisfying his fascination of other peoples.
- YOUR TIME ZONE (Where you from?) NAME: Roland Hieronious - CLASS: Human Fighter - BACKGROUND: The nephew of Myrmeen Lhal, Roland had lived his previous life in Waterdeep, gaining riches from Undermountain and owning an inn. He never married and had children. By some circumstance, he found himself in modern-day Waterdeep, speaking with Durnan who provided insight on people who are brought back to life because of Undermountain. Roland decided to have a quiet life, got married, and had a daughter. After his wife fell in a battle in Icewind Dale, Roland worked as a bartender before becoming an assistant to famous author Lady Hera. He quickly learned Lady Hera was a 5,000-year-old red dragon who wrote about famous adventurers and solved crimes for the Waterdeep watch. Roland goes around the Sword Coast finding tales and leads for Hera, who's become a mentor for him and a motherly figure for his daughter. OOC: I know in D&D red dragons are evil, but in this case she's not. I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
- NAME: - Wilom "Wil" Bani - CLASS: - Druid, aiming for Circle of the Stars - BACKGROUND: Wilom's pa was a sailor, and his pa was a sailor, and while his pa's pa's pa wasn't actually a sailor, everyone knew he really wanted to be one. And so it was only natural that Wil became a sailor too. Not that he had much of a choice, since he was conditioned for it almost from the moment he learned how to walk. But Wilom wasn't cut out for tying ropes and pulling ropes and untangling ropes and doing a lot of other things with ropes(ships have too many ropes). He preferred to look at the sky above him rather than the water before him where the dock is approaching at rather dangerous speeds that threaten to tear the boat in half(his father never truly forgave him for that incident). But Wil's pa wasn't the type of fellow that just gave up, and there's a position on a boat for those that seem to have their necks stuck bent backwards. And so, Wil learned to become a navigator. Charting the stars, spending each night staring up into their infinite numbers, tracing out shapes from groupings, it was everything he could have asked for. And apparently they liked his attention too, because they began to speak to him. Luckily, they weren't the type of otherworldly beings that whispers in your ears to kill your family and eat human flesh and whatnot. That's reserved to the things that come from the place in between the stars. No, they just liked his attention, and he liked theirs. And as Wil got to know them better and better, he learned how to harness their light and power, and they let him, as long as he promised to keep admiring them for as long as he lived. But of course we can't have happy endings, and Wil's father ended up dying, leaving Wil with the realization that he still had no idea how to operate a ship. And so he began his journey traveling to wherever the skies led him. As long as he could see them, and they could see him, he was happy with wherever life brought him. - YOUR TIME ZONE: PST/GMT -8 - YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: I've been playing D&D for a decent few years now, probably at least maybe five, I'm sure I could eventually remember the number, but I can't right now. I started out playing first edition, and made the jump to 5e a few years later, after the group disbanded, and I've been on these forums almost since I started 5e. - YOURSELF: A few years ago I decided "screw it, I'm not gonna cut my hair ever again" because screw barbers. At this point it reaches a good third of the way down my back, a large difference from the previous measly couple of inches it was before I decided to avoid those cruel butchers of hair. - VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS (YES/NO): Yes please!
Thank you for offering to run Death House. I've never played it or Curse of Strahd, but have wanted to do something in the Shadowfell for a long time. Thanks for taking a look at my character below:
NAME: Galingal Stonefall CLASS: Cleric - War Domain BACKGROUND: Galingal, a Shadar-kai, knows little of his parents or childhood. He remembers fighting his siblings, cousins and other children for the scraps of food that was left over after the warriors had eaten. He remembers vague images of adolescence when it became clear he had been chosen by the Raven Queen for the gift of channeling her power. He was taken from his siblings and trained as a warrior cleric. Since then everyday feels like a repeat of the last. His life has been spent entirely on the edge of the Shadowfell perpetually ambushing orc raiding parties and collecting scalps, almost catching glimpses of the material plane. Everyday the same until one day that wasn't. Dense fog followed one orc regiment and it obscured the entire valley they and the ambush party Galingal was with. He was separated from the others, and suddenly found himself somewhere new. Sun shone on his pale gray skin. A new sensation. The warmth caused his mouth to turn upwards. His eyes crinkled. What was this? Then the sight and sound of wood elf children singing while their toes dipped in a small pond caused a short sound to escape Galingal's mouth. Then the children made similar sounds and asked why he was laughing. But then the fog was back and he was again on the border between the two planes, only now he knew there was something else and something was missing. He continually strives for a way to leave the Shadowfell but every time he does, he somehow gets dragged back in. YOUR TIME ZONE: West Coast - PST YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: It dates me, but I first learned to play D&D with the old Basic and Expert books then on to AD&D, then a long break before getting back into it with 5e. I've been doing PbP since last year. YOURSELF: My closest friends routinely try to categorize me as either autistic or a sociopath. I'm neither, but maybe it's why I finally want to take a shot at playing a Shadar-kai who is struggling with what emotion means and the depressing existence his life normally is. VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS: If I have to make a choice I will go with no. I would prefer a separate thread here for OOC, but I've no real issue with Discord except that I find it easier to organize my thoughts better with the large empty spaces on D&D Beyond.
Hi. I have played D&D a long time ago, and have been looking to get back into it again starting with 5th edition (so... newbie with past experience?).
-NAME: Balasar - CLASS: Gold Dragonborn monk - BACKGROUND: Balasar was orphaned very young. Left for dead, he was discovered by a lone traveling monk who brought him back to his monastery. There Balasar was raised by the monks while learning from them. When he was old enough, he decided to leave the monastery to discover the world beyond and to discover if he still has some family in the world beyond. - YOUR TIME ZONE: EST - YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: Played ages ago (back in the day when D&D was covered "evil" and "satanic" for some dumb reason). Coming back in with 5e (at the worst time with COVID) and want to play again. I'm in a solo play by post on another message board. - YOURSELF: I'm a long time player of other RPGs, though because of my schedule (I work nights), I run into a lot of problems getting into a regular in person game (the raging epidemic doesn't help much either). I'm also new to the message boards here (obviously). - VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS: Yes
Never played CoS or any part of it. The only published campaign I've played (still running) is Ghosts of Saltmarsh. Would love something darker to run through. I'll fill the basics below and have a think on a character.
- NAME Cordax Glenfellow
- CLASS Druid
- BACKGROUND Could a halfling be called a Noble? Apparently if you were born to the right family during the right season and on the right night - you could. Cordax was much more at home in the fields than in the Great Hall. Too many politics for his liking. So many laws and rules one had to know. Now, sowing the first seasons corn on the eve of the blue moon. That was something he understood. He took great pride in tending to the fields, watching them grow. Harvest was his favourite time of all. The revelry was contagious. Ale, wine and some weird chewing root that had a peculiar taste.
They were the good times, before the devastating insects came tearing through his village. With all hope lost the town put together a group of four strong willed farmers to seek answers. Better yet, solutions. Each farmer went the way of the compass. Cordax had been given North as his bearing.
And so he travelled for many moons. On the way losing his mind a little - or so he thought. He had began talking to the animals he met. To his surprise, they had started to talk back. Suddenly, politics in the Great Hall didn't seem too bad.
- YOUR TIME ZONE GMT+11 (Aust EDT)
- YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE Lots of 2.5e when it was a thing, but with 5e...****y the last year - here by PbP.
- YOURSELF Moved from the city (Melbourne) to a country town 4 years ago. If you had have told me 20 years ago that I'd be living on a farm I would've called you crazy.
- VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS (YES/NO) It's a no from me. I like the ability to sit and think about what I'm writing. The IM feel of Discord makes me feel rushed.
NAME Felix - CLASS Fathomless Warlock - BACKGROUND - Felix grew up pampered in his noble house. Anything he ever could want was right at his finger tips. As a single child, his parents doted on him. Sometimes though, Felix saw them look worriedly at him when they were talking in whispers. He was also never allowed to go down to the ports or the beach. His parents always came up with some strange excuse at the moment but it became a pattern. One night, Felix slipped out the window and ran down to the pier. He had always watched the ships come and go and read books about pirates on the open seas. Upon arriving at the pier, it was surrounded by a thick fog. Felix quickly became lost and wandered to the edge of the docks. Looking down into the water, he saw his reflection looking back up at him, his arms reached up and wrapped around his throat. As he was dragged into the water, Felix saw three blue skinned humanoids with seaweed hair surrounding him. "You came early. The deal was on your 22nd birthday you would be given to us. Why have you come?" the three hags ask him. Seeing his confusion, one of them offered, "Perhaps he doesn't know the reason he has been kept from the sea or why he is an only child. We could use a new tool. Perhaps he could be our emissary instead of our meal." The coven whispered for a few moments, as they did Felix realized he could breath under the water. Turning around the coven asked, "Will you serve us for an equal time equal to the time we gifted you on this earth? You shall be freed after you are done. Or we can eat you right now...." Felix quickly agreed and as the three swam around him chanting in a strange tongue, his vision went black. When he awoke, he was on a strange shore far from home. In the back of his mind he hear the coven say, "Twenty years of servitude and you are free. Go now our pawn." - YOUR TIME ZONE - Mountain time - YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE - I am running WDH and have played in a few but still relatively new to this format. I can definitely post multiple times a day most days and at least once a day. I have a lot of DM experience in 5e but relatively little player experience. I have played a bunch of both Pathfinder editions. - YOURSELF - I am training to be a bartender and have a few good (according to friends) original recipes. I also play too much ffxiv - VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS - I don't really care either way

- YOURSELF: A few years ago I decided "screw it, I'm not gonna cut my hair ever again" because screw barbers. At this point it reaches a good third of the way down my back, a large difference from the previous measly couple of inches it was before I decided to avoid those cruel butchers of hair.

Bump
Thank you for offering to run Death House. I've never played it or Curse of Strahd, but have wanted to do something in the Shadowfell for a long time. Thanks for taking a look at my character below:
NAME: Galingal Stonefall
CLASS: Cleric - War Domain
BACKGROUND: Galingal, a Shadar-kai, knows little of his parents or childhood.
YOUR TIME ZONE: West Coast - PST
YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: It dates me, but I first learned to play D&D with the old Basic and Expert books then on to AD&D, then a long break before getting back into it with 5e.
Thanks again for the consideration.
Hi. I have played D&D a long time ago, and have been looking to get back into it again starting with 5th edition (so... newbie with past experience?).
-NAME: Balasar
- CLASS: Gold Dragonborn monk
- BACKGROUND: Balasar was orphaned very young. Left for dead, he was discovered by a lone traveling monk who brought him back to his monastery. There Balasar was raised by the monks while learning from them. When he was old enough, he decided to leave the monastery to discover the world beyond and to discover if he still has some family in the world beyond.
- YOUR TIME ZONE: EST
- YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE: Played ages ago (back in the day when D&D was covered "evil" and "satanic" for some dumb reason).

Very good applications so far. Keep em coming. I'll be making a choice on Monday.
One more day
NAME Felix
- CLASS Fathomless Warlock
- BACKGROUND - Felix grew up pampered in his noble house. Go now our pawn."
- YOUR TIME ZONE - Mountain time
- YOUR D&D/PbP EXPERIENCE - I am running WDH and have played in a few but still relatively new to this format. I can definitely post multiple times a day most days and at least once a day. I have a lot of DM experience in 5e but relatively little player experience. I have played a bunch of both Pathfinder editions.
- YOURSELF - I am training to be a bartender and have a few good (according to friends) original recipes. I also play too much ffxiv
- VOTE FOR TEXT DISCORD CHATROOM FOR OOC AND QUESTIONS - I don't really care either way
You name sounds familiar. Do I know you from another game?
Nope, I'm just getting started on pbps
My mistake. Welcome, then!
