I'm very new to the game and aren't really sure how multiclassing works well with each other but I've heard this is the class for giant damage any tip and trick of this idea.
FYI I have never multi-classed before and have only played a handful of sessions a new campaign is coming up and I can build a lvl 20 for the one shot and a lvl 5 for the actual campaign pls any tips
I honestly wouldn't MC early in your D&D career. Multiclassing /can/ be good, but you really need to have clear goals as to what you're looking for out of your MC, otherwise you're more likley to end up with something weak. Assassin|Paladin is capable of decent damage, but it's a one trick pony, and it only does big damage 1/round (maybe).
It is not the direction I'd recommend if I were looking for big damage out of a multiclass.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
