Hi, i'm running a campaign for a party of 4 beginners ( with myself being a 5th) . i am having trouble with the fact that none of the adventurers can hit above the goblins AC. I have them first roll attack, then add strength or dexterity and then proficiency bonus. Am i doing something wrong? plz help
P.S. im so very sorry if i am being too vague with my request, but as i said, i am a beginner and i didnt know how to ask exactly.

Your PCs should be rolling roughly 1d20 + 3 (stat bonus) + 2 (prof) bonus = 1d20+5 to hit, or on average 15.5. That means they should be hitting AC 13 65% of the time. AC 13 is the recommended AC for CR 1 monsters. Does that... help you?
