No requirement to know the exact location, it even lets you point at someone behind a barrier. You do have to be familiar with the target, so others should not be able to intercept the message. I would let you point at a 50 ft area.
If I had to give it a limitation, I would say that you basically have a 120' Cone from your position, and as long as whoever you're trying to communicate with is in that area (and not behind the stuff that the spell overtly calls out as blocking the spell), then that's good enough. So basically as long as you can point in roughly the correct cardinal direction, that's good enough.
Does the Message cantrip need to know the exact location of the target of the message, or can it work within a general area?
For example, if the target of the Message is within a 50' circle that is 70' feet away can the message be received?
