Some me people say that the spell deals half damage on a save, but the text that would say that appears to be missing from the description. Is this a typo in the spell, or is it supposed to be an all or nothing effect?
No, it does not deal half damage on a success. It is intended. It makes the spell a bit more balanced as it also causes exhaustion which can be detrimental as more levels are gained.
While I understand most of what this spell does. I am planning to use this spell for a Big Bad in my campaign who is an Evocation wizard. The one thing I wish to know is if I center this spell on himself and use spell sculpt to bend it around him, does it stay like that to where it cannot effect him or does the spell sculpt only work on instantaneous effects.
you can create pockets of relative safety within the effects of your evocation spells. When you cast an evocation spell that affects other creatures that you can see, you can choose a number of them equal to 1 + the spell’s level. The chosen creatures automatically succeed on their saving throws against the spell, and they take no damage if they would normally take half damage on a successful save.
It says Saving Throws (plural) which could easily mean that if the other creatures you want to protect make multiple saves, they succeed on all of them. But, it also says "other" creatures, so you might not be able to protect yourself, since while you can see yourself, you are not "other" from "you".
so I’ve got a bit of confusion with the spell Sickening Radiance

Okay that's what I thought, people were telling me it was typo, but I thought it sounded too strong.
