Question: Playing the Lost Mines of Phandelver scenario. My paladin took the defensive fighting style at level two, now he's at Level 4 andI saw I can take the Fighting Initiate Feat which allows me to take the defense fighting style again. The DND Beyond character creator allows me to do this but maybe I'm missing something. In my head it makes sense that different martial fighters may have different styles of defensive combat. So can I take defensive fighting style twice?
In the feat description it says directly in the text, "If you already have a style, the one you choose must be different." So the answer is no.
As a general rule, you cannot take the same fighting style twice. I would assume it is just an error the site allows due to something beyond my knowledge.
Thanks. I just checked by multi-tasking to fighter and it still shows the option to take defense again. Guessing back end logic doesn't cross check class specific choices.
