No problem, same thing also applies for other creatures, for example an Iron Golem, but it only relates to the creature itself. If a Warforged or Iron Golem were holding a lead pipe, that lead pipe could be targetted as it is an object that is not part of the creature itself.
Note that a warforged that is using integrated protection to incorporate armor is probably vulnerable to heat metal, though that's a definite edge case.

Warforged are still considered creatures and thus not considered objects, as such they can not be targeted by Heat Metal.
