Question: During downtime, I can spend time gaining proficiency in something, yes? So what can I become proficient in? Heavy armor? Rapiers? Or just a language or something? I’d like to know.
The Players Handbook outlines some rules for training in downtime, but only to learn a language or a tool proficiency (e.g. navigator's tools). Xanathar's Guide goes into a bit more detail, but still languages and tools only. Any other proficiency gains are outside the rules, so ask your DM and expect it to be very costly indeed.

Haven’t used this account in forever. Still a big fan of crawling claws.
