Jim’s Magic Missile states that you need to make an attack roll for each missile and the damage done etc, but no mention of interaction with the shield spell.
shield specifies that "you take no damage from magic missile"
Given that Jim’s Magic Missile is NOT the same spell as Magic Missile, I would expect that the shielddoes not automatically protect against Jim's spell in the same way that it negates the original.
That's not an official ruling, just my personal take on reading those spells.
I don't know how often this might come up, but the basic rules versions of other named spells do not have the names due to IP issues (trademark or copyright or whatnot, I'm not a lawyer). Will people get confused that Jim's Magic Missile and Magic Missile are not the same while Tasha's Hideous Laughter and Hideous Laughter are the same?
Jim's Magic Missile was "created by Jim Darkmagic III" and each time you cast it you have to also pay a 2gp royalty (deducted magically) to Jim Darkmagic.

It's a mechanically different spell than Magic Missile, so Shield would not automatically block it. The +5AC, however, means there's still a very good chance that Jim's MM can be mitigated.

Let's take a look at what the spells say.

In that shield raises AC, it may stop the missiles, but it does not automatically stop them like it does normal magic missiles.
Why did they give that spell such a stupid name?
The spell is from ACQUISITIONS INCORPORATED sourcebook and the name is part of the flavour of the setting.

It's gluten free. Acquisitions Incorporated is a goofy book.
Also known as CrafterB and DankMemer.
Here, have some homebrew classes! Subclasses to? Why not races. Feats, feats as well. I have a lot of magic items. Lastly I got monsters, fun, fun times.

Valid concern, certainly. The only way to avoid the confusion is to actually read the spells' descriptions. Tasha's Hideous Laughter and Hideous Laughter have the same descriptions, the same effects, etc., while Jim's Magic Missile and Magic Missile do not.
