This might belong in a homebrew forum, but I had an idea for a homebrew spell that plays back events in a certain area. The spell creates an illusory version of a specified event, so if the caster wants to see how a person died, the spell would produce an illusion in a 10-foot radius showing how the person died. Obviously, that would be a Divination spell, but what level should it be? And what classes should be able to cast it? Any feedback would be appreciated.
Depends on how far back in time it can see. If we start with a limit of a day and raise the limit (week, month, year, decade, century, unlimited) for each slot level, then level 3 would work.
You could also make it a ritual with a semipricey (50gp?) non-consumed material component.
I think it would be good for bards, clerics, warlocks, and wizards.
