My character playing through Avernus had some fun with Demon Ichor and consequently now has tentacles for both feet and arms.
As one of the mutations I had was "your feet and legs swap places making you only able to move by crawling" followed by another mutation of "your legs become tentacles with fingers on the end"
As understanding goes, and I'm not one to argue with the DM but am interested in how others would handle this. Would you rule that my character would still have to move around always prone, attacking at disadvantage and being melee attacked with advantage or would the replacement of feet with tentacles also circumnavigate the can only move by crawling?
For reference, my character is a Kenku who interacted with the demon Ichor 12 times in hopes to grow wings. Didn't get wings, no regrets.
I'm guessing you meant "The target’s arms and legs switch places, preventing the target from moving unless it crawls," and "The target’s arms become tentacles with fingers on the ends, increasing its reach by 5 feet."
No I would not say that tentacle legs are better for walking than arms.
There's a second mutation that replaces legs as tentacles too, I have 4 limbs that are tentacles.
I'm all down for the crawling, but in the text for legs being replaced by tentacles there's no mention of crawling. While in arms and legs being swapped there is.
The target’s arms become tentacles with fingers on the ends, increasing its reach by 5 feet.
The target’s arms (now tentacles) and legs switch places, preventing the target from moving unless it crawls.
The target’s arms become tentacles with fingers on the ends, increasing its reach by 5 feet (10 feet if this is allowed to stack, or 5 feet each if you can wield weapons with any of your tentacles).
I would say you don't need to crawl, but you need to ask your DM if you movement speed has changed (I don't think you'd get a swim speed, but your DM might give you advantage on checks or something), if you get a tentacle weapon attack, and if they grow back.

I don't see a leg tentacle option on the flesh warping table.
Hmm I can see that you're right, so I'll have to follow up with my DM.
Update:
Spoke to my DM, his ruling was that as I got the arms as tentacles again after my arms and legs were swapped my leggy arms are now tentacles.
So just learn to walk on your hands and you're good to go?
So you got:
