I was unaware of this option. But most cantrips already have really good range and I don't like the idea of a staff requiring 2 hands to be used as a focus.
I don't mind the idea of them, but only a cantrip range improvement isn't great. I might allow them in my games if someone asked and had a good reason for it, but only in eberron.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Indeed, it was removed in the final version (v3) of the Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron - I see it in v2 of WGtE (the version of WGtE from just before the content went through UA), but not in v3. The sidebar in v2 matches the UA playtest content, but it was removed in the final version.
(Also, technically WGtE can be a valid source in the Eberron AL campaign, but only where its content matches that of Eberron: Rising from the Last War.)

It was an interesting addition but now I cannot find it
It isn't in Eberron Rising from the Last War.

It was an idea presented in an Unearthed Arcana playtest, which has since completed:

As far as I know, the optional rule still exists in the Wayfinder’s Guide, which is still official (though not available in AL play).
I'm not aware of it being in that sourcebook - do you have a link, or page reference?

I think it may actually have been removed when WGtE was updated to the finalized rules. I couldn't find it when looking at the latest .pdf.
Definitely not in DDB's version of WGtE. I don't have a PDF.
